تصور کن، اگر چه تصور کردنش سخته
تصور کن در دستانی اسیر باشی، هیچ فریادرسی نداشته باشی، با یک زنجیر کوتاه به دیوار بسته شده باشی، هفته ای یک بار غذایی جلوت پرت کنن، دور و بر خودت ادرار و مدفوع کنی، آنقدر پاهاتو بکشی تا قطع بشه، آنقدر بی پناه باشی که بزرگترها چشمت رو از حدقه دربیارن و تو صدات درنیاد، گاهی هم به اسم تربیت شکنجه ات کنند و تازه توله کشی هم بکنند تا براشون درآمد داشته باشی.
نه، اشتباه نکنید. کسی که این کارها رو کرده هیولا نیست، آدمی ست نادیده گرفته شده، تحقیر شده، با بیماری اعتیاد و عقده های بسیار، بدون هیچ آموزش و تربیت و کانون گرم خانه و خانواده. توهین به او هیچ چیزی را درست نمیکند.
از ساکنان یک مجتمع ساختمانی به ما اطلاع دادند که صدای ضجه های چند سگ روانشان را به هم ریخته. بوی گند نمیگذارد که زندگی کنند. مرد جوانی در یکی از واحدهاست که چند سگ دارد ولی بیست روز است که نیامده و معلوم است این سگها گرسنه و تشنه هستند. مادر این جوان هر چند روز یک بار سر میزند و برمیگردد.
رضا مقدم، یکی از داوطلبان وفا که در کار نجات سگ ها تجربه دارد، با ساکنان خانه قرار گذاشت در زمان آمدن آن خانم او را خبر کنند تا به محل برود. هفته پیش مادر آن جوان به خانه سر زد و با ساکنان مجتمع و نیروی انتظامی مواجه شد. مادر منکر وجود مشکلی در آپارتمان پسرش شد ولی در نهایت همکاری کرد. پسر به دلیل اعتیاد در کمپ ترک به سر می برد و او در این مدت به سگ ها غذا میداده. در خانه باز شد؛ به گفته ی رضا خانه ی وحشت.
از اینجا به بعد دیگر گفتنی نیست خودتان می بینید. پنج سگ از آن خانه وحشت نجات داده شد. پلیس صورت جلسه ای تهیه کرد و با امضای همسایه ها سگ ها را تحویل نماینده پناهگاه حیوانات وفا داد. یکی از همسایه ها گفت که آن جوان قبلا چهار سگ را فروخته است.
سگ ها به محض ورود به پناهگاه تحت رسیدگی قرار گرفتند. چشم آسیب دیده یکی از سگ ها تخلیه شد. بقیه هم به نوبت تحت درمان قرار گرفتند. پای یکی از آنها از نیمه قطع شده نیاز به جراحی دارد. و ...
ما معضلات بسیاری در جامعه مان داریم که نقض حقوق حیوانات یکی از آنهاست. این معضلات درهم تنیده هستند و نمی شود یکی از آنها را بدون درنظر گرفتن بقیه حل کرد. فقر، اعتیاد، آموزش، سلامت روان، نبود قانون حمایت حیوانات و ...
آنها که حتما میخواهند توله بخرند و نژاد توله هم برایشان مهم است، ببینید! توله ی شیرین شما ممکن است از چنین جهنمی بیرون آمده باشد.
Imagine, as hard as it may be, that you're a dog, taken hostage and locked away. Nobody is available to help you while you're chained to a wall with a short leash. Food is thrown in front of you once a week while you have to pee and poo around yourself as you can't go anywhere else. You struggle to get free, but you lose your leg in your excruciating endeavor to get free. You are helpless when the bigger dogs attack you, so much so that your eye is badly injured.
Sometimes the hostage taker tortures you in the name of training and even forces you to breed new puppies to sell for profit.
Make no mistake, the person who did this is not a monster. He is a person who has been ignored, humiliated, has drug addiction issues and many other complications. He is without any education and lacks family support. Insulting or judging him does not fix anything.
Residents of a building informed us that they could hear dogs whining during the night and a bad odor coming from one of the units. There is apparently a young man in that unit who has several dogs, but he has not been seen coming home for twenty days and it is clear that these dogs are hungry and thirsty. The young man's mother comes to her son's apartment every few days to check on the dogs and then returns home.
Reza Moghadam, one of the Vafa volunteers who has experience in rescuing dogs, arranged with the residents of the building to be alerted should the woman come back to check on the residence.
Last week, when the mother returned, she was confronted by Reza, residents, and the police. The mother denied that there was a problem in her son's apartment, but eventually relented and agreed to cooperate.
The story was that her son is currently in a drug rehab center and has been there for the past 20 days. During this time his mother has been feeding the dogs.
Finally, with her cooperation, the apartment’s door opened; and as per Reza, it was akin to walking into a house of horrors.

Five dogs were rescued from that house of horror. The police prepared a report and collected neighbors’ signatures to be able to hand over custody of the dogs to the representative of the Vafa Animal Shelter.
One of the neighbors said that the young man had already sold four dogs previously.
As soon as they entered the shelter, the dogs were taken to the medical section. The injured eye of the puppy was removed. One of them needs surgery to amputate his leg.
We have so many issues in our society that violation of animal rights is only one of them. These societal and animal welfare issues are connected like a chain. Poverty, drug addiction, lack of education, mental health, lack of legal protections for animal rights, etc.
