Go Dodgers
4:23 Ireton should have translated that part "I did cage work with bryce harper together". Shohei didnt say he was just only close look at bryce harper
Dodgers should get a better translator like the cub's translator for Imanaga. Ireton and Hiro both leave out a lot of details and nuance in ohtani and yama's answers that deliver more context and personality. They're a lot more lazy with their translation. It shouldn't be that hard to find a competent translator for 2 of your star players.
bring back ippei 🤔😄
Honestly I hope Ohtani learns English like Ichiro did. Ichiro’s English interviews were iconic. Also, to be fair Will hasn’t translated since Maeda left. So he might be rusty
@@JL-rd5gn Ippei was bad too tho, about the same level as Ireton or maybe a little worse. He took a lot of liberty with what Shohei said and twisted them into whole new sentences sometimes.
@@Enforcer93 I think it'd be cool too but we saw what happened with the Mets player who did an interview in English instead of his native language in Spanish and got fired since the reporters misinterpreted what he was trying to say. So I understand the safest way is to have a translator, but they need to actually be good. I think I saw somewhere anyways, that Ohtani has said he wants to focus on just baseball. He is in love with baseball to the point he would rather spend that time practicing or training. He reminds me of that mamba mentality that Kobe had, he doesn't care about anything else but baseball, it's just what he enjoys. We do also get a few English interviews from Shohei when it's more casual which is cool too.
@@Heybrotruthhurts yeah I heard Yamamoto is taking English classes. Hopefully Ohtani can learn to be fluent over time with his teammates now that he doesn’t have his old translator gate keeping him
Was this interview held mid-game after Ohtani hit his home run? One guy asked whether he was rooting for the NL to win so he’d win MVP.
Must have been. He made a point to say he was out of the game.
after two at bats he was subbed like everyone else so bench players can play in between they go for media that's why the game was still going on
@@recommended1782 he actually had 3 ABs
the good: don't have to listen to kirsten and her really bad questions
the bad: these questions aren't much better
this interpreter is missing a lot of Shohei’s comment…
Are you sure about that.
dude as a Japanese speaker he’s doing good tho
I think he does a great job from English to Japanese but not so much the other way around? Ippei was exceptionally good with his translation, he always got the jokes and nuances right and was always a fun watch but, well, what he did was what he did😢
Give examples. English 101.
@@bqpdobqpd I actually dont think he was good at all. Ippei would leave out whole sentences or big details that have more flavor/context. He took a lot of liberty with the way he translated imo. Same with Hiro. Yama answered a question saying he hopes Ohtani hits a HR against Shota, but hiro left it out completely
👏👏👏👍
You kick ass Shohei!
日本でもいい1日を過ごせる方が沢山みえると思います~😊
ソト〜 待ってま〜す😊
ソトよりピッチャーが何人も必要。
Question: “Juan Soto says he would love to play together with you. What do you think about that?”
Shohei: “I’m honored. I hope Juan Soto uses his desire to play on the same team with me as leverage to get as much money as he can from the Yankees.”
ソト、ゲレーロjr は今オフドジャースに来てください。byテオヘル
Love Shohei but his interviews are so dry :P
