- I had a request for a video on voice commands, so I threw this video together, along with a mission you can play to learn some of the voice commands. Apologies for the lack of my view in this video. still having issues with Virtual Desktop, that's probably very easy to fix if I just took a look at the settings.

Using the command “regroup” will make your wingman disengage and form up in only one command
For the longest time I thought the only way to use PTT was by pressing the radio on your chest (or throat), which would mean taking hands off the controls. So I ended up not using any communications unless I had a free hand. You can imagine how happy I was when I found out you can use either the stick or throttle to PTT.
This game REALLY needs (better) tutorials instead of fully relying on players figuring things out on their own and outside of the game
And even for the help there is for some it's under tutorials for some in the free flight missions and basically no help for the EW plane
This is officially the coolest sim ever made. What other flight sim does this out of the box? lol. And you don't even need specific commands. Just close enough, lol.

I love the immersion in responding to the AI. This game truly is so much fun and has so much depth for being made by one guy. It's a fun starter Sim to get into the heavy stuff. I'm gonna play with the voice commanda and really get lost haha
Oh, this explains why my wingmen weren't listening to me when they should have been: you have to say "wingmen" at the beginning. I bet this got added to stop wingmen from taking commands out of speech between pilots.
Good guide. When you reply to a “call the ball” query irl you would reply with your designation, aircraft type, “ball”, and fuel state.
For example “Alpha 1-1, Wasp, ball, three-point-seven” (3.7 being 3,700 pounds of fuel remaining).
This can add a lot of to the workload at short final so I recommend you only do it if you like a challenge.

This is a fantastic video on a feature that doesn't get anywhere near as much love as it deserves. As far as "Attack my target" how does that work with players? Is there some way to share data links or something so you know what or who someone else is targeting?
You can use Mark to laser mark what you have locked, and other pilots can use NVGs to see your laser. You can also GPS-S your target and hit SEND on the GPS waypoint screen to share the GPS waypoint
If youre still wondering vtol actually added a feature called "buddy lasing" which is basically lasers eith frequencies to let other prople fire at your laser. However as of now this is only in testing.

@@michaelwestmoreland2530 its not in the game yet but you can test it by using their public testing version of the game. Its basically a system for when two people want to do air to ground attacks one can mark the target and the other can shoot it

I’m using a Quest 2 on ALVR and it doesn’t seem to pick up what I’m saying, the knob is green when I’m speaking and my mic works on quest titles
I use a Quest 2 with Virtual desktop. There are a few reasons why voice commands don’t work and most of the solutions are in the comments here 👍

Could you by chance do a video on how to get your game set up for voice commands? I tried to set it up with speech recognition and everything but after several times of saying “tower, alpha 1-1 requesting take off” you are inclined to try something else
Hey Kojeb, sorry for the late reply, I missed your comment. There can be a few reasons why when playing the game. Simple checks are make sure the radio down on the right, is set to on, volume up and set to PTT. if you click out of the game into another screen the game seems to lose the microphone. You will also see "Game screen not in focus" on your right and you need to click the game screen again. If people can hear you in multiplayer, and you don't have the not in focus warning then you should have voice commands. It could also be your accent. I find I have to repeat commands a couple times, occasionally. Try "Ground, Re-arm" when you start a mission (on the ground). This seems to be the easiest and quickest command to test. Good luck buddy, hope you get it working.
Ejecting at the end of the video is a great way to sign off. Thanks for the info. I don't think you said, but what does "Leans on Overlord" mean?
Close to and heading towards overlord. Basically overlord is potentially under threat
verbatim repeat backs are as important for you as they are to the person telling you what to do
I think you need to specify which squadron unit you want to command by prefixing your command by your wingman's callsign/designation. For example: "bravo 1-3, rifle my target."
Though i have no clue how you can find out what the callsign is for each wingman
You can’t designate each unit, the commands are triggered by the word wingman/wingmen

I can land on a carrier. I can talk about VTOL. But talking about VTOL and landing on a carrier seems a step to far lol
hey man, can you tell me how to get in a misison with wingmen and targets that dont return fire? im wanting to learn without being shot down. also, do you use the microphone connected to your pc for comms? or do you use the mic connected to the headset. im using oculus quest 2

I built my own PC to keep the cost down. Its AMD based. Tomohawk Motherboard, Ryzen 5 3600X processor, Radeon RX5500 XT 8Gb GPU, 32Gb DDR4 RAM, 1Tb SSD, 1Tb HDD. With 2x monitors, gaming mouse, gaming keyboard etc, it cost me just under £1000 GBP. Building a PC is quite easy and will save you a lot of money compared to a pre built PC.
Are the flight stick controls for the radio also available on the vive controllers? I don't really have a bottom button so to speak
I could say. I haven’t used vive controllers. Clicking the trigger under your chin should work
How are you switching between the wtwo camera modes without having to interact with the S-CAM stuff in the cockpit? I want to make videos on the game, but with the dual monitor thing, the main screen is the default one, but i want the FOV60 scmoothcam as one screen and a chase-camera as second camera... either switching, or with the chase cam as small PiP ... any tips?
I set the S-Cam to random and record both screens in OBS. Set the screen size to double size in OBS so you can record both screen inputs at full resolution. The rest is done in editing
Do we really need to identify ourselves when doing commands?
or is it an optional thing because whenever I try using voice comms in multiplayer games it never works.
I think you do need to identify yourself, but I think some map makers turn off voice commands. The "better" Airshow map for instance doesn't have tower commands

whenever I load the game it doesn't appear. any help?
It could be several things really. First make sure your PC is capable of running the game by checking the specs on Steam. After that, check that all windows updates and GPU drivers have been installed. These are the most common causes
After changing my PC and operating system from Windows 10 pro to Windows 11 pro, I can't get the voice commands to work at all, which is a real shame, because they added majorly to immersion. I checked if the correct microphone is selected and if my game window is focused on, I tried both PTT and hot mic, verified the game files, even changed my display language and configured and run windows speech recognition, because I read somewhere that it's needed, although I don't think it was on my last PC. Nothing worked, The only thing that left that I can think of is to purge the game folder and reinstall the game, maybe there is something left from the mod manager that broke it? But if that doesn't work I will be really sad, maybe I'm missing something obvious, please help.
I heard putting the game window into windowed mode, Alt + Enter, can fox audio issues with voice commands
I have to set up voice recognition in windows? It won’t let me as it’s not supported for windows in my language and I can’t choose anywhere to train it in English or something
I’m not sure how to help with this one, I don’t know that much about windows voice recognition
@@TheFerretsWheels I switched my windows to English. Tried training it a bit, load up the game. Have it set up correctly in the cockpit and no joy, pretty sure it’s windows messing it up, ugh. If only the game had its own voice recognition instead of relying on windows
I have an issue that makes me unable to use the voice command's. It is that my game window is not in focus and i dont know how to fix it. You think you could give it a shot at explaining it?

Where the engine gauges and switches are. Your call sign will be at the top of that panel in the FA-26B
When i am in multiplayer and set my comms to "team" the other players on my team cant hear me. They can only hear me when i set the comms to "global" is this intended?
No I think that could be a bug. The new update with radio channels coming soon might fix that

There is a link in the description to the Steam workshop page. You need to subscribe to the map. It is also a training mission so it will show up under training
how do i make the ai teammates to attack enemies? and how do i lock on enemies
You can lock enemies with the radar, TGP or ARAD just as you would when you shoot them yourself. Once they are locked say “wingman, attack my target” to get the AI to attack instead
Where do we place the downloaded file buddy?
Once you are subscribed to a map it should show in the steam workshop under the downloaded tab. There is also a training page where maps labelled training will be stored
but if i try to ask tower alpha 11 requesting take off it don't work how do I fix it
Check the light on the radio panel when you speak. If it turns green when you talk then your mic is ok. Try “ground crew re-arm”
@@TheFerretsWheels it dint help but the way it did is guys if it doesn't work and ur in a different country from the USA or something go to ur windows install the USA English voice pack set ur windows to that and bam it works

1:02 when im clicking this it shows "game window not in focus"
Game window not in focus mean you have another app selected. Click on the game screen to make VTOL the primary window to fix

Not sure if it’s a bug. I noticed my throat mic doesn’t work in SP but does work in MP, in the Jamcat at least

You need to subscribe to the mission either through the game in the steam workshop or through the steam app. Then they should be available in the steam workshop in game

LSO says a lot of things that I usually ignore. Should probably take more notice
