    I purchased the entire collection for my kids when they originally came out in the 90s and we played like heck with them for years. Sadly, they were sold during our dark age. Since I've been back in the game in the past few years, I've been slowly re-acquiring them but it's costing about 10 times more than it did back in the day. LOL Nonetheless, they are THE best Lego Sets- Ever. Thanks so much for showing these off!!!

    25:57 Yup, Wild West was prominently shown in the LEGO Chess game but was also featured in Soccer Mania / Football Mania as a team. The sets were in the background and a few cutscenes. Both Cowboys, Bandits and Native Americans were used in Soccer Mania as players. And the Western music in that game was sooo good! Also Western was featured in LEGOLand the park simulator game. Some CGI cutscenes akin to Chess were made and attractions were loosely based on the sets, like Spinning Barrels looked similar to Fort Legoredo.

    The black wagon from Gold City Junction is based off a very famous western called The War Wagon. It had both John Wayne and Kirk Douglas in it. My Dad had the gumption to recognise it and somehow found the VHS, which I would watch on repeat in the background while playing with the western sets. If I remember correctly the wagon also had the 'dynamite blows out safe' feature from the film, and it famously has a tripwire scene which i made good use of the one from Bandits Hideout to replicate :D

    I was born in 02’ and got into Lego with the Sandcrawler in 05’ followed by imperial star destroyer, walking atat, etc. my older brothers were gifted Lego when they were young (early 90’s). However they did not like Lego the way I did and I was given all there pieces to play with when I was quite young. They had Lego western, adventure, sports, and res-q… I remember the pieces from those sets as some of my earliest memories; the chrome horn, blue hats from western figs, achu minifig, the building plates… so nostalgic, but above all else that 1x2 dynamite piece is my favourite and your reaction in the video was spot on lol. I recently started sorting all my Lego by color, and came across some of my favourite pieces and mini figs from so long ago, brought up some great memories.
    Good job on the video! I too agree that this theme was very great.

    This video hit me right in the childhood. I used to own the bandits secret mine hideout and the sherrifs office. And a buddy in school had most of the other sets. When we hung out together we'd sometimes take our sets with us and make a big wild west town. Then we just played with it all day.
    Good times.

    I have the Fort set with the box. My mom bought it at a garage sale back around the year 2000. I also had the Native American set with the 1 teepee. Brings back nostalgia from my childhood. Glad I kept them and in the box. A lot of my other Lego sets I did not save the boxes for and got mixed up with all my other Lego pieces.

  • @mr_h831
    @mr_h831 Před 4 lety +1

    Lego should give these sets a remake. I mean like, they did it with the star wars line recently, and if the star wars line can get a nostalgic remake, i see no reason why the western sets can't. Unfortunately I'm not old enough to have had these as some of my sets, but i can certainly see why the fort "leg-er-a-do" (because that is totally how you say it. Lol) would be your favorite set. I never had it and even i can see it's an excellent set.

    35:11 While that is true for many modern themes, classic LEGO themes had factions that could act as their own thing or combine for conflict. In Classic Space, M-Tron, Blacktron and Space Police was sold as separate sets with little overlaps like Space Police and Blacktron, to show who are the good guys and who are the bad guys. M-Tron in the catalogs was a militaristic group I believe? I'm sure there's a magazine out there from the time of the Native Americans to show their connection with Cowboys and Bandits. LEGO Chess did a good integration of them, the bandits escaped from Gold City Junction, through the Native American village, into Fort Legoredo.

There is actually one set missing from the line-up; 6748: Boulder Cliff Canyon! The soldiers and cowboy sets are also great looking, but I have always been a bigger fan of native Americans and I think it was wise of Lego to not include soldiers or cowboys in the second wave. Lego also made a buffalo mould, but unfortunately they never made it to the sets :(
