    I get the feeling the line Misha couldn't say to Dean in that scene after Dean also couldn't say (or it's cut out) "I guess I always knew you'll come back" is something like "I will always come back to you.." or something like that. I think it fits y'know? :D

    if you actually listen to what they're saying, the objection to the line really came from it seeming out of character for Dean to say it, rather than having a problem with the sentiment behind it. The fact that Dean kept the coat in itself show his affection for Cas, the lines made it over the top. At least that's what I got from this.

    Jensen said that acting would be weird if Destiel ever became.. Destiel, and that he didnt want that because he likes the way it is and he doesnt want that strange feeling every time he has a scene with Misha. or something like that. and i can honestly respect that. i respect Jensens feelings and i will always ship Destiel, and i will always read/write Destiel fanfics but i accept the fact that Destiel will probably never become canon

    • @kiml1226
      @kiml1226 Před 4 lety +23

      @Kate B. it's not called homophobia, you're really trying to make it out like he's homophobic when he's not. With the women (other than his wife), he wasn't close to any of them they were just actors. With Misha who is one of his best friends, it's different. Which you failed to mention. Not to mention he goes very in depth with his character, he's very in tune with what Dean would be like. And to make Destiel a thing, that would be very out of character for Dean and Castiel. That wouldn't be real, so you can calm down and stop assuming. Plus he's played bisexual character before.🙄

    • @kiml1226
      @kiml1226 Před 4 lety +11

      @Kate B. the definition of homophobia "dislike of or prejudice against homosexual people." even if he judged if Dean and Cas, goes together, that's based on preference, not homophobia, since he will be actually doing the stuff. Just because he just don't want to do gay stuff doesn't mean he's homophobic, that's like, saying a straight guy is homophobic because he doesn't want to have a fake sexual relationship with another guy. That makes no sense.

    • @albanyrodriguez7598
      @albanyrodriguez7598 Před 4 lety +3

      @Kate B. WOW you are an idiot, Jensen is not homophobic, I personally would feel uncomfortable in that situation because even if it's acting, the actresses he was with, were just actresses, imagine with one of your best friends besides these guys are dorks if they made scenes like that they would laugh all the time, I shippeo destiel but honestly I would be angry if they made him a canon because it would be disloyal to the story and the characters

    I don't think Jensen Ackles is homophobic, I think he's simply of the opinion that it would be out of character for Dean to be in love with Cas. I mean, I ship Destiel, but I'd agree that it would be out of character.

    • @BinJLG
      @BinJLG Před 9 lety +75

      ***** I think it would be OOC for Dean to /admit/ that he loves Castiel. Cause Sam said all the way back in season 2 when Dean was all "Why does everyone think we're gay??" (or 1. Before Dean sold his soul) that Dean acted REALLY butch, like he was compensating for something. Dean just doesn't talk about his emotions, especially the gooey ones like love. Dude's so far in the closet about his feelings for Cas he found Narnia.

    • @BinJLG
      @BinJLG Před 9 lety +43

      ***** To be fair, though, Jensen has played a bi man in the past. If I were to speculate, I would say a lot of the discomfort comes from some of the more intense fans (to put it nicely) doing things like showing him fan art of him and one of (or more than one if we're talking about Wincestiel) his best friends having sex. You can only joke about it for so long before you get sick of people bringing it up.
      There's also the sense that no matter how he portrays Dean or how the writers write the character or any number of the show's creative elements do their thing, people are always going to be unhappy with what happens; which is pretty terrifying since he's the one portraying the character and mostly likely to get the brunt of the heat.
      tl;dr - it's probably not as simple as "he acted like this, so clearly that means he's homophobic." Until he expains (if he explains) his reasonings, I don't think we as fans are in a place to pass judgement on someone we don't personally know on such a deeply personal issue as this (sorry, I fail at tl;drs :P).

    I think Jensen was right in saying it wasn't something the characters would say because at the time they weren't as close as they were after a year in purgatory together. He wasn't one to say something as intimate as that. He shows his love for Cas in more subtle ways. The "I need you" scene was very intimate so I do think a lot changed between the two in season 8. Dean became more comfortable with his feelings for Cas. Destiel is canon. Over the past year there was major character development!

Sometimes I think these guys overthink this stuff because of the way fandom is, lol. Still, I can see where Dean, a character who's never had an easy time expressing his feelings, wouldn't say something like that. Hopefully it'll be on the DVD extras.

      yeah i think those lines could've stayed in because I think they would've fit like story wise with Dean because hes seen people die and come back so many times already. He's seen Sam die and come back too so why wouldn't he believe that Cas would somehow find a way to come back ? He's even seen Cas die and come back so those lines wouldn't be a romantic type of 'I felt in my heart that you would come back to me' it would be more based on his experiences with those close to him who never really die

      Seems to me that just showing us Dean had kept the coat made that dialogue unnecessary. If they had started talking like a romance novel it would have made the scene campy instead of profound. Eric wrote Gumby girl into the script [I forgot her name] and Sera had to deal with this new character and her son in the new season. Female fans didn't show their support. There were talks of burning torches and angry mobs. I think she braved it because she is one of the slashers. So she knows how the slashers brain works. Unfortunately the thought of three men doubling over with laughter over something she wrote...I dunno, if it were me, I would feel crappy. Not only did Jensen change things without even telling her [I mean she's a phone call away] he decided to bring it up at a convention. Just his expression alone is an eyebrow-raiser. Just think, if Eric Kripke, the original showrunner wrote that script, do you think Jensen would have been so disrespectful. I don't care how damn hot he is, but he shouldn't say that the showrunner's work is ridiculous. It's wrong.

      While I do agree that his choice of words could be deemed as disrespectful in some parts, it's not the only time the cast has changed lines they thought were ridiculous. Goodbye Stranger is another example, and that episode was written by one of the male writers. He also went on to say (possibly only to be pc - who knows) that she's a great writer, but writes like a girl. Well... she does. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn't. I wouldn't be happy about someone laughing at my work either, but he's entitled to his opinion on how a character he'd been playing for almost 8 years should be portrayed.

      +Diane Winchester wow attacking jensen over ships... what a big surprise. jensen is the one who created dean's personality (with kim manners) added layers & gave him heart & soul, so he knows best what dean is & what is'nt. infact dean by canon, is'nt a chat feelings guy, let alone say to his friend ''I really hoped you would come back someday" which is a thing that only someone involved in a relationship/breakup would say. & guess what dean was'nt in a relationship with cas, they are freaking friends. so how abt stop confusing reality & what is canon on the show, (dean & cas friendship) with fic (slash) & attacking jensen cause he stated the obvious. as for gable she scr*** up big time. it was her desicion to drop rock music, get rid of cas, kill bobby, end result dropped ratings(=less incoms) & that's why she was axed. also gable was a known special snowflake fangirl, so thought it was funny to pimp her favorite by scr*** dean = dean/cas jokes which writers saw was selling & run with it. & since then they did clear fan service, which had a backlash on jensen whenever he dared to state the obvious=dean & cas are friends by canon & nothing else. also gumpy girl as you called her was gable's creation, & being brought back in, was her desicion since she took over in s6. so how abt stop spreading bs & leave jensen alone

    I know this video is old, it's just that I can't resist to comment.. These people in the comment section saying Jensen is homophobic for saying "It's unmanly for Dean", it's ridiculous. I don't get why some fans insist what they want for the show - pushing the stories that they've wanted. I don't want the series turns out like, they can't kill a woman or get rid of her because the show will be sexist. The show needs woman empowerment something like that OR they need to make Dean a Bi or else the series will be homophobic. Supernatural is about "supernatural" (no shit), it's about the guys fighting with Supernatural entities and that's it. I'm a destiel shipper (and a proud one) but I get embarassed when they ask these type of questions. Jensen is right, it didn't suit to Dean's character, even when it comes to his brother, he can't expresss himself. I love Destiel what they are right now, saving and caring for each other. And that's the reason why I fall in love this couple. haha. I know some of you are offended of what I've said earlier but if you're a fan of Supernatural and you fall in love with this series without a couple (your OTP to be a canon) then you can watch the series accepting the fact that Destiel wouldn't be a canon.

They get uncomfortable because I had a friend who I didn't knew was lesbian and I shipped her with a guy friend of mine. Every time I told her about it.. she got uncomfortable, weirded out and tried to change the subject. So similarly, when a straight person gets shipped with a person of the same sex, we get uncomfortable and weirded out but that doesn't mean we're homophobic.

      Kalinda Khan Hi Kalinda, I wrote a reply to Alexis Foster regarding this sexuality issue. I've cut and paste it for you. Please tell me what you think. ''Hey there! As a classic slasher may I give you a few pearls of wisdom. While I agree with what you are saying [I think Jensen is a little and a little snooty] the one area that I have a qualm with is mention of Dean's sexuality. Classic slashers, in other words, female slashers whose art is resonant of female sexuality, don't use the words gay or bi. Slash is female sexual fantasy. For forty or so happy years, it stayed as such. If we wish to have a discussion about sexual rights, orientation etc, we look for other outlets. Slash should be preserved because women don't have any other form of sexual expression. I think I would say Destiel is not canon because Jensen doesn't want to kiss another dude. That is the crux of the issue. I think Jensen blushes easily. And there's nothing wrong with that. Unfortunately, none of the modern slashers know the difference between erotica and smut. Neither do our beautiful boys up there. You don't have to even touch someone to portray love or eroticism. The teenagers need to learn from their elders.''
