you've just had a heavy session of electro-shock therapy & you're more relaxed than you've been in weeks.. all those childhood traumas magically wiped away, along with most of your personality.
Hahaha check please....I was over a buddy's house some time ago.....cruising through his extensive catalog of tunes........when I see......."porcupine tree".......I ask ....what's this........he says ....check them out.........so I start...........after 90sec...into first song.......I had to ask.......when the hell were you going to turn me onto this band........ha....freaking jerk....was sitting on them for about 2 years......all is good.....this past month I've been really listening deep into this epic live shows........for sure some of the very best musicianship you will ever want to experience........ So tell me..... "Are you Experienced " If you are....tell me who and what song that is from......... Thanks for your participation
I'm a huge fan of "technical" music such that of Dream Theater, but I still find myself loving the music of Steven Wilson and Porcupine Tree. In the case of this track, I think the magic is the space, allowing the notes to breathe, the groove and the atmospheric vocals and keyboards.
Same thing could apply to Pink Floyd, and PT has a Floydish vibe in some of their music. Nothing rushed, nothing deliberate, every note, every sequence placed just right. Amazing, really
one day you're just minding your own buisness and suddenly this song starts playing in the back of your head out of nowhere and you're back to a PT marathon, that's never going to end till the last breath you take. been 10 years since i discovered them and still hits the same like my head just came all over exactly like the day i first heard this song. PT is not a band it's a feeling of euphoria.
This is the best band i have ever seen.. I am addicted to his songs (PT/SW solo/ Blackfield...) 4 years of Porcupine tree and addiction is increasing every day.. This life is still not enough for his all songs... i will have to buy a new soul..
ZavnorZ Steven Wilson always gives amazing shows, man. but this one and The Sound of Muzak were really surprising, because I never imagined that he would play them. I attended their show in Mexico City
music is something that should connect to you emotionally whether it is technically strong or not........this is where steven wilson is miles ahead of all contemporary musician......he is simply awesome
Dt is one of my favorite bands for what they do...and i have known John Petrucci for a few years and hes amazing at what does...But noone writes this kind of melodies and lyrics currently, it doesnt make either better, it makes both the best.
Excellent psy prog rock.... one of the top songs from Porcupine tree (although i like all their songs :)) Steven Wilson and Porcupine tree should produce few more masterpieces... Its been a long time since their last venture.....
Mr Wilson says (in a youtube vid where he and Guthrie Govan describe their rigs) that he considers himself a composer first not a guitarist. Well, I wish I could play half as well.
Inside the vehicle the cold is extreme Smoke in my throat kicks me out of my dream I try to relax but its warmer outside I fail to connect, it's a tragic divide This has become a full time career To die young would take only 21 years Gun down a school or blow up a car The media circus will make you a star Dark matter flowing out on to a tape Is only as loud as the silence it breaks Most things decay in a matter of days The product is sold the memory fades Crushed like a rose In the river flow I am I know
beeeeeeeeeeeeeeen looking for this song jeez yu know when you get stuck and cant remember the name??? aaaaaaaaaah Steven how we are thankful for your existence you'll never know :)
This version is soooo much better than the studio version. Freaking love this song. I stripped and stained a 1970 Ludwig kit to this song on repeat. Turned out beautiful and this song will always remind me of Covid-19, nothing to do, might as well spend 100 hours reconditioning a wanted set and listen to this new band I found called Porcupine Tree.
So because Petrucci has a higher level of technicality means he can't write something as beautiful as this? Believe me, SW and JP both write incredibly emotional and amazing music. They are truly masters of their craft. Forgive me if I misunderstood your comment. Amazing live performance however, wow!
Technically he isn't the best? What kind of statement is that? Do you even know what he's doing or what his work actually entails? He's one of the most ambitious and hard working musicians in the world right now. He's also technically gifted enough to hold together 3 bands at the same time as remixing the whole king crimson back catalogue and jethro tull back catalogue. I think you'll find he's all there, and more.
Not trying to sound arrogant or like I know better but Steven and the band too of course are the best at least of our time. It is a matter of taste haha. But is it?
you've just had a heavy session of electro-shock therapy & you're more relaxed than you've been in weeks.. all those childhood traumas magically wiped away, along with most of your personality.
for the geeks :)
Dude that’s the opening sentence to the epic novel you haven’t written yet...

1:50 didididididi 1:53 dodododododo AWESOME
+Germain Robin best commentary EVER!!
Seconded!
Incredible control over those subtle notes, with one hand!
Gavin really tied that measure so well. Agreed!
In addition to being a chops monster, Gavin's sound, i.e. tuning, mic ing etc, is amazing
One of my personal fav porcupine tree tracks.
Richard Barbieri smiling said it all.
wow John Wesleys playing and vocals are out of this world.
Beautiful harmonies, thanks the oft overlooked excellent lead guitarist, John Wesley .
Best guitarist in the band. Some of his solo stuff is great
Porcupine Tree, perhaps the greatest rock band most people have never heard of.
OR YES¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
True mate ))
Such a fucking gem
when I heard them , I thought "what have we here" , took a few months as the claws gripped , facking claws are stuck :-)
I’m so thankful that I have heard of them. This music is heaven on earth!

"Are you Experienced "
If you are....tell me who and what song that is from.........
Thanks for your participation
Originally from Voyage 34, recorded in 1992 and 1993; which was later expanded upon, and released as an EP in 2000, and re-releasedin 2004.
7:08 my face every time i listen to this song (have been listening to it for 8 years now)
I still don't think it's possible for me to listen to this and not be astounded.
Thank you Porcupine Tree. My spirit is flying rightnow...

These guys get into a serious groove here.
Superb talent, amazing piece.
The most underrated PT song and perhaps the best guitar solo of any PT song. Magic!
one day you're just minding your own buisness and suddenly this song starts playing in the back of your head out of nowhere and you're back to a PT marathon, that's never going to end till the last breath you take. been 10 years since i discovered them and still hits the same like my head just came all over exactly like the day i first heard this song. What a Band. so tight. Would pay to list to the drummer on his own.
Deserves far more likes....
Amazing song..
After all those years a diamond..
This is the best band i have ever seen.. I am addicted to his songs (PT/SW solo/ Blackfield...) 4 years of Porcupine tree and addiction is increasing every day.. This life is still not enough for his all songs... i will have to buy a new soul..
I never get tired of this awesome song! I love it!
OMFG This is so epic. I can believe I saw Steven Wilson playing this song live.
+Rarity Sparkle Yeah, me too! In Albany NY....fantastic show.
ZavnorZ Steven Wilson always gives amazing shows, man. but this one and The Sound of Muzak were really surprising, because I never imagined that he would play them. I attended their show in Mexico City
I am so jealous..........
You wouldn't happen to have been a dude with a Sweetie Belle background on his phone, would you?
Richard Barbieri is in his total element in this one. Can't wait for the upcoming tour.
I cannot wait either! Hopefully they play some tracks, this included, from Signify, Stupid Dream, and Lightbulb Sun.
Musical perfection personified....
bought new headphones.......magic
Germain Robin listen to the original record it will blow your mind even more
Absolutely amazing and relaxing! Porcupine Tree forever in my soul. This music make me belive in beauty!
music is something that should connect to you emotionally whether it is technically strong or not........this is where steven wilson is miles ahead of all contemporary musician......he is simply awesome
Phenomenal composition!
this band is like a football team .. they are all playing tight ... but they have a striker that makes the difference .. Gavin :-)
El genio de Wilson en directo: performance perfecta del progresivo, que nos recuerda a los clasicos y que transforma a Porcupine Tree en un clasico insuperable.
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how groovy 7 can be.
A classic by anyone’s definition
Une référence absolue dans ce registre musical "pop - rock prog", un solo de guitare d'une autre sphère!!!, à son écoute l'émotionnel a beaucoup de mal à retomber...

Geniuses at work
Excellent psy prog rock.... one of the top songs from Porcupine tree (although i like all their songs :))
Steven Wilson and Porcupine tree should produce few more masterpieces... Its been a long time since their last venture.....
Possibly my favourite PT track all members play perfect sections throughout the song Never get tired of listening to it
the solo makes my eyes sweat. Petition to add PT as an essential in academics.
One of my favorites, and my favorite from Signify
I only cry, and think, and feel...
4:52 Gavin: "Oh sorry I didn't notice You were filming.... I was in another world....."
Mr Wilson says (in a youtube vid where he and Guthrie Govan describe their rigs) that he considers himself a composer first not a guitarist. Well, I wish I could play half as well.
Each and every time, this ending solo gives me the most thrilling chill.
Super band!!
Awesome, great disciples of the Crimson King
Beautiful harmonies, thanks the oft overlooked excellent lead guitarist, John Wesley .
Stunning indeed
Such textures and feelings. Love it!
One of Barbieri's best
BEAUTIFUL ❤❤
Inside the vehicle the cold is extreme
Smoke in my throat kicks me out of my dream
I try to relax but its warmer outside
I fail to connect, it's a tragic divide
This has become a full time career
To die young would take only 21 years
Gun down a school or blow up a car
The media circus will make you a star
Dark matter flowing out on to a tape
Is only as loud as the silence it breaks
Most things decay in a matter of days
The product is sold the memory fades
Crushed like a rose
In the river flow
I am I know

No one drums like Gavin Harrison?
no one does.. he might not be the best, but he's damn close and he's unique so i dont see anyone taking his place in the near future
beeeeeeeeeeeeeeen looking for this song jeez yu know when you get stuck and cant remember the name??? aaaaaaaaaah Steven how we are thankful for your existence you'll never know :)
Gavin Harrison on drums. He' s amazing.

This is insane.
I am a BIG DT fan. Seen them three times but..... I could not agree with you more. Anesthetize is in a league all in its own. The DVD is amazing.
Or The Holy Drinker. Or Luminol. Or The Raven That Refused To Sing. Or The Watchmaker. Or The Pin Drop. Or Drive Home(that solo)
2018 porcupine tree forever
