- Today we take a look at a Holy Grail item that just found it's way into my collection: A legit full-auto Russian RPK-74! We're gonna show you some range time, and a little of what makes this gun unique.

About Me
My name is Brandon Herrera. I'm the owner and operator of The AK Guy Inc, a 07 Firearm Manufacturer based out of Fayetteville, NC. I also co-own Stark Media Group, and designed the rifle known as the AK-50.

5.45x39 in Escape from Tarkov: shoots perfect outline around man at 20ft distance.
In earlier days Of tarkov 5.45x39 had very little recoil until streamers complained about it and the devs raised the recoil impulse

Let's be real. Anyone who can afford a transferrable machine gun in their collection, can afford to mag dump at 60cpr for the foreseeable future. The goal of the government is not to ban guns, is to make them pay-to-play so that only the rich can afford them and their protection.

Every time the action cycled in slow motion, I heard the cash register sound effect (cha-ching) from "Lord of War," but as the sound of a lot of money being spent, not made. Nevertheless, I sincerely appreciate the expenditure, perhaps made all the sweeter by the acknowledged sacrifice it represents in our current situation.

@@shoto42 yeah bullets don't work like that XD you shoot lead from the casings. you can reuse the casings in some cases but the lead part is pretty much ruined once shot.

Even if it doesnt seem like so there goes a lot of work on the videos, therefore i think that its not wining money, but rather earning it. He should do that. Since he specializes in Russian based guns, it would be easy to advertise it. And even if it's a side hustle, in the long run it would produce a good cash flow if the ammo ban keeps up.

I have a question . is there any US company produce russian type ammo ? And are they any good compare to the russian one .
@@annguyenlehoang7779 There are but not many because it wasn't very profitable due to how cheap import was especially in the surplus years. If it has potential for a market though without that foreign competition it will get picked up by U.S. producers. The biggest problem is that ammo consumption and hoarding is outpacing producers atm. Both civilian and military is wanting to buy large quantities.

I got a chance to borrow once from a friend when I saw 2 pidgins from I would say more than 350 yards. And I said jokingly I would take one out. And he laughed and just handed to me. I went on prone position, took a shot at the white one as the other one bluish couldn’t see him clearly. Bang and it hit him directly. Until now none of us could believe such a long shot can be made with no scopes, just a bead .
Unfortunately those kinda toys are not legal where I live now otherwise I would pay as much as they ask for .

Fired the old RPK at OPFOR back in the mid 80's. Lots of fun.
Some parts of that gun are inaccurate: spring must be like twisted pair - it was done for better sustainability. At least my service RPK-74 (which was made in 1987, BTW) has such spring, and other machine gunners in my company has the same (old) guns with twisted-pair-springs.
Great gun, love it, because in sentry I was able to put this gun on the ground, and not carry it on shoulder, like regular AK-74. For Russian army, all you need to do for make your life easier - is just to now regulations.
And, well, it’s a good LMG (MOUNTED AND LOADED) all-around, pleasant to shoot and quite accurate.

@@johnqpublic7191 IMO if your serious about self defense, freedom and preservation you should have a minimum of 3,000 - 5,000 rounds. I'd be more inclined to say 7-10 thousand to be honest. Based on that being for the common owner I assume Brandon has tens and tens of thousands.

From what I’m tracking, the main weakness of the RPK-74 is that the barrel is too long for the cartridge e.g. the powder charge burns completely before the bullet leaves the barrel, meaning you lose velocity from the bullet needing to overcome the rifling before it leaves the muzzle. This ends up reducing velocity and reducing range. Of course, all of this is about to be a moot point, since the 5.45 supply is about to completely dry up.
You don't lose velocity, you gain 250 fps over the 16 inch barrel. Roughly translates to an additional 200 meters of effective range
My favorite round and a form of my favorite ak definitely keep up the vids and awesome content 👌

The RPK doesn't really have a much longer effective range from an AK. Bit more more precise when it's brand new, but the lengthening of the barrel probably helps more with bore erosion near the muzzle.

@tvercetti1 I mixed both. My bad. The RPK is 5.45x39. The PKM is the long, powerful russian machinegun, originally in 7,62x54.

I personally believe that the "white claw penetration test" should be done with the white claw on its side rather than standing up. You know like its scared and tried to lay down to reduce its exposed area. More penetration = More better.

Fun fact: firing a weapon from the shoulder with the bipod deployed makes it more accurate.
Obviously, the unfolded bipod means that all the legs’ weight is pushed further to the front, causing it to act more like a compensator. Joking, but now genuinely curious.

For anyone wondering the lovely watch he’s wearing is an Invicta pro diver,, NH35 movement,, water resistant to 200m,, stainless steel with lots of room to change metal and face colours and relatively inexpensive as to not break the bank,, definitely not the best watch on the market as far as functionality(movement) but it makes up for it by being a tough yet all round nice looking watch for a great value for money,, wore one for about 5 years would recommend
