    Hi bro, I have a question. How did they make the piano in "on a day like today" sound that way at minute 1:20? . what piano is it? not heard on any other track on the album "hopes and fears"

      It seems a CP-70 with saturation and slight distortion. It's a wonderful song by the way 😊

      Echo and reverb are also important to achieve that piano sound. Another trick I used in was applying short echo and reverb to the piano, panning the dry sound to one side and the wet to another.

      @@alternativeremakesHow do you do the distortion effect on a yamaha cp70? Does the piano itself have settings that will allow it to sound different? At least the Yamaha CP45 can do it, but I don't know if the CP70 can do it, I've never seen it.

      @@leandro77203 I've added a distortion pedal (Kvassa Efektor DS3606) in the signal chain after the piano. The piano itself does not have distortion.

    wow dude, how did you do the intro? Did you use a guitar?

    • @alternativeremakes
      @alternativeremakes  Před měsícem +5

      @@JeongyJohnny The intro is a Yamanha CP70 electric piano run through a distortion pedal. I researched and apparently Kent used this technique throughout the whole UTIS album. You can find the list of VST in the description.

      it's "inspired" in the classic (and maybe the most copied art of our history!) the great wave of kanagawa, by hokusai.
