I like how you explained your perspective as the editor which the client definitely doesn’t approach the photos in the exact same way, love to see CZcams recommending smaller channels and I enjoyed the video! :)
Thank you for the kind words and for taking the time to say them! 😊 It is definitely not the same perspective. What makes a great image to me might not even be noticed by a client and vice versa. Either way, I get to use my camera and they get great images. I call that a success!
Thanks again for the support 🙌
You have to have thick skin when you are an artist. Don't over read it. They paid the bill and that's what tells you that you did a good job. Maybe they had an artistic vision themself and you inspired that in them. That would be a compliment. I would charge extra for the Raw files and ask that credit for those Raw files be given to you. If you get into video work, you will have less problems with these issues. I did a leather painted plaque of a bear catching a fish in the water as it went upstream. My customer loved it but wanted me to change the colour of the fish. At first I was offended but then I remembered that the customer is always right. Remember that saying. So I changed it and he was happy. When we do things for other people we have some creative control but they are paying for it. A cook creates a type of food art and sometimes goes through a lot of effort to make it with their vision. Then someone puts ketchup all over it or sends it back to get well done. This is the thick skin creative people need when monetizing their creations. Good luck and I hope this helps you get past this.
I would have been offended as well. I would have felt like someone just wanted to take credit for my work. This is why I don't like communicating just by the written word. I tell people that the written word is up to the reader to determine the context and tone of the message. I think if they would have called you and made the request you may have felt different. Either way, Yes charge extra for the RAW files.
I know they didn't mean anything by it, but that didn't make it hurt any less. I think my own insecurities played a pretty big role as well. I'm not afraid to admit it, and I agree that it is hard to convey emotions through text. Unfortunately, that is only going to get worse over time. Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
I dont share Raw files, I am clear that the client will get around 12 to 15 edited photos for 2 hrs of shooting. The issue here is as Donny mention, they will pick unflattering pics and use a free software to edit them. If the client want me to shoot for 2 staring hrs and give them all the pics, thats a separate deal and my rate is higher.
