"But what is a guardian exactly? If you knew, you wouldn't be here?" Yes, the fact that all these students have decided they want to become guardians so much that they are attending a school that exclusively teaches you how to be a guardian clearly indicates that they don't know what a guardian is.
I'm gonna try to justify this because it's late and I'm tired and I overthink stupid things when I'm tired. I think what they mean is, the students know the basics of what a guardian is, but not all the details. There are probably elements that aren't as widely known, or finer details they need to master. The emphasis here is on the word "exactly." The students know what a guardian is, but they don't know _exactly_ what a guardian is.
It also sounds like they're implying being a Guardian is actually terrible, and if people knew what it entailed then they wouldn't be attending. Such sloppy writing
I agree that "we have an announcement" would have sounded better, due to them being leaders or teachers of the school. "We have a thing to say" sounds like something the kids may say, rather.

I was considered to be the "stupid" "unless" "slow" kid in school. It was so bad i was basically pushing though all the way. Its thanks to a learning disability that makes it hard for me to memorize datas and studies were impossible. I was able to read perfectly but was unable to spell or write. I knew what things were but i couldn't repeat or recreate. I always wonder what would have happened if i got a little more attention. It always hurts to hear that someone instantly thinks that a kid is worthless if they dont get everything in a snap. And fall into place like a good little puzzle piece should.

I love how this ‘progressive’ show hinted at a kid being exceptional and talented enough to get into this school, but had a hard time keeping up with a traditional school system (a very common trend with neurodivergent people and/or people with ADHD) and flat out called them useless Honestly, they got the school system to a T
At first I found her sass funny but the joke was quickly ruined by using it too much, stretching it too much and her ear grating voice made it even worse.
Quick writing/acting/psychology tip: People who are sincere, don't "act sincere" longer than 2 or 3 seconds. If they stretch the act, they're lying, and that's why they appear dishonest and fake.
I've only seen clips, but I've already come across the problem multiple times in this show. They'll almost manage to competently execute a joke, then they'll kill whatever humor it had by dragging it out, repeatedly, like they don't think the audience will get it if they don't say it twenty times in a row.

I super don't know much about the background of this series, and this is the only clip I've seen of the characters, but I suspect they're making reference to a common archetype/trope that shows up a lot in modern witchcraft and neopagan practices. In those belief systems, you'll often come across, by various names, a goddess with three distinct aspects that gets associated with femininity, the moon, and plenty of other things. The three aspects of the goddess are often depicted as the maiden (young woman), the mother (middle age woman), and the crone (elderly woman), each aspect representing a rough phase of a woman's life. I don't actually know what this show is about (witch students, I'm guessing?), but the triple goddess or riffs on her are super common in western fantasy. I first came across it Sandman by Neil Gaiman, but I've seen it in discworld (where the main witch characters organize covens of three explicitly to fit the archetype) and plenty of other places. In most of the depictions I've seen, the three aspects tend to look very similar aside from their age and finish each others sentences while having different personalities. The idea of a triune goddess shows up in plenty of ancient traditions, but the maiden, mother, crone version in neopaganist tendencies gained prominence in the 20th century and filtered into fantasy literature and and fiction from there. All this is a roundabout way of saying that I suspect the writers of the show think themselves very clever for referencing a common trope.

Call me a Mythology Nerd, but I think they're all supposed to be one Character: Hekate, the Goddess who is a young Girl in the Morning, an adult Woman at Noon, and transforms into an old Lady at Evening. They all look similar, wear very similar Clothes..... Yeah, I'm pretty sure they are supposed to reference Hekate.
This is so americanized, from the art style to the humor this just doesn't feel or look like anime. This just makes me wanna rewatch Little Witch Academia or any other real anime

In my experience, the general appeal of “quirky” characters is the way they carry out non-ordinary actions as if they were the norm, naturally spicing up what might be a bland or generic scene. The problem with the old lady however, is that due to the timing of her lines (and her lines as a whole) being poorly planned in relation to the other characters, it mostly comes across as those kids in class that would just randomly blurt out whatever random thing came to their minds for the sake of being a part of the conversation or getting attention. The result is exactly the same as when those kids do it in real life, it feels awkward, breaks the natural flow of the conversation in a jarring manner, and generally makes the kids look kinda dumb.
‘All of you were chosen because you are special’ immediately followed by ‘but sometimes we choose really stupid kids who get held back like crazy’. Seems like the recruiters are trash, and that’s not Doyle’s fault.

But there, the humour of the scene makes it sound all the more confusing. Why foreshadow Doyle, who is seemingly a joke character? If Doyle is just gag, then show the audience and just call it a day. Why build anticipation if it's not to set the plot into motion? Why do they paint Doyle as a pathetic character if he is suppose to move the plot forward? If Doyle is so pathetic do they feel the need to badmouth him behind his back? Why do I as a spectator intuitively feel more sympathetic toward Doyle? Why do the writers have no common sense?
After dropping out, Doyle decided to give up on magic and turned to a life of crime. He became so strong to the point he became a death row inmate. After breaking out of containment, he wanted only one thing: to taste defeat

The quirky protagonist is so overused now. That's why Shield Hero got popular cause the protagonist displayed real emotions that reflected his situation. Actually, most of anime/manga are that. You see Naruto being goofy, but at appropriate times, he's serious. Unlike how American cartoons. They've become so Steven universe-y type.

I always have doubt in my talents. The most I can think of for writing a story is my adventures in a D&D campaign, which technically doesn't count as "original writing" (unless I was the DM). But I'm confident enough to say that it would still be better then this.
The reason studios intentionally make characters have different hair colors & hairstyles is to highlight main characters or distinguish them everyone else in a crowd, if you pause at 0:39, you can notice everyone here looks like a new shade of the damn rainbow spectrum, so first viewing, I couldn’t tell you who was the main characters if you just gave me this and told me to pick out the main cast.

As creators, we all have doubts and concerns, wondering if our work is even worth it. Is all of this time that we're investing going to pay off at all? Will anyone even see our creations? Will anyone even care? This doubt is normal, especially when you're personally invested and is the mark of having a true passion for what you do. It's not only commendable, but should be celebrated. You want to show your best and really leave a positive mark. Maybe even break out into the professional world like the artists who inspired you to take that first step. So I say this with absolute unapologetic confidence that watching this gives me newfound unbreakable hope, cause hoo boy, if THAT's what I'm going up against then the only thing in my way is my own self-doubt.
well its pretty obvious why you feel that, same level of surfes level attempt at humor. chariecters dont become funny by having them say alot of jokes, just makes them anoying. the jokes need to come out of the actions conflicts of the show.

That's uncalled for... North Korea has actually produced a number of animated series and features, such as _The Legend of the Titanic,_ and _Squirrel and Hedgehog,_ which look better than this.
After watching this clip. I feel so bad about disliking and shunning shows like “Totally Spies”, “Kim Possible”, “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Tenchi in Tokyo” At least those shows had a likable cast, a good script that flows , good music, fun moments, and catching openings. The more high spice clips I watch, it made me feel more foolish about disliking all my formerly hated shows.

There are some anime that REVOLVE around sitting around talking, and do it well. Certain strategy or romance anime for example. This was not that. I am glad you said stiff, that is the word that was on the tip of my tongue but couldn't quite figure out why this scene struck me as off.
Not sure what you're talkin' 'bout. Still images with minimal movement is a staple of anime. Which isn't a bad thing, since it can allow the budget to go towards more worth while scenes. It's just that with a lot of anime the stories are engaging and interesting enough that the audience usually doesn't really notice or care about the lack of animation in these types of scenes. This 'anime' doesn't even have that much going for it, making the stiffness all the more glaring.
Having them alternate between being so in sync they're finishing each other's sentences and so out of sync they keep interrupting each other to go on wild tangents is really hard to get a feeling for.
Openly mocking an obviously slow/troubled student in front of the new students, foregoing any sense of formal introduction for said new students, and giving an assignment that is both extremely confusing and virtually pointless in the long run. Sure, this may be today's education system to a "T", but DAMN, this is one of the WORST ways to present it! ("Woke Progressiveness" at its finest!)
It would have been better if the grandma was sassy for like about 1 minute, and at the end the mom would have yelled "can you shut up!" And then the grandma would have been like "ok..." and be all sad. Her sass was funny, got old quickly the more she kept doing it, but then if she was yelled at and then stopped talking we could have felt like "aw, she was just trying to be funny," at the end of it.
To be fair, the old lady’s lines *could* be funny if the voice actor wasn’t having such a hard time putting all of her energy into trying to sound old. She’s got a Waldorf and Statler vibe, and those guys were some of my favorite characters from The Muppet Show.

so, they ask them to write some bows, speak them into the well, and they already acknowledge the fact they will all be wrong. Then, they try to be al "surprising" when revealing that everyone failed at portraying an appropieate guardian's bow. Also, they made bows seem like they were something personal to each guardian, then went all: "nope. Either you have this exact bow, that takes like 5 minutes to recite, or you are a naive youngling who has no idea whatsoever of how the world goes".
They may introduce this kind of mystery that those three may or may not just be one person split into three, but I don't trust these writers to be clever enough for the reveal to *_NOT_* be that they're one person.

Quick writing/acting/psychology tip: People who are sincere, don't "act sincere" longer than 2 or 3 seconds.
If they stretch the act, they're lying, and that's why they appear dishonest and fake.
I've only seen clips, but I've already come across the problem multiple times in this show.
They'll almost manage to competently execute a joke, then they'll kill whatever humor it had by dragging it out, repeatedly, like they don't think the audience will get it if they don't say it twenty times in a row.

I super don't know much about the background of this series, and this is the only clip I've seen of the characters, but I suspect they're making reference to a common archetype/trope that shows up a lot in modern witchcraft and neopagan practices.
In those belief systems, you'll often come across, by various names, a goddess with three distinct aspects that gets associated with femininity, the moon, and plenty of other things. The three aspects of the goddess are often depicted as the maiden (young woman), the mother (middle age woman), and the crone (elderly woman), each aspect representing a rough phase of a woman's life.
I don't actually know what this show is about (witch students, I'm guessing?), but the triple goddess or riffs on her are super common in western fantasy. I first came across it Sandman by Neil Gaiman, but I've seen it in discworld (where the main witch characters organize covens of three explicitly to fit the archetype) and plenty of other places. In most of the depictions I've seen, the three aspects tend to look very similar aside from their age and finish each others sentences while having different personalities.
The idea of a triune goddess shows up in plenty of ancient traditions, but the maiden, mother, crone version in neopaganist tendencies gained prominence in the 20th century and filtered into fantasy literature and and fiction from there.
All this is a roundabout way of saying that I suspect the writers of the show think themselves very clever for referencing a common trope.

In my experience, the general appeal of “quirky” characters is the way they carry out non-ordinary actions as if they were the norm, naturally spicing up what might be a bland or generic scene.
The problem with the old lady however, is that due to the timing of her lines (and her lines as a whole) being poorly planned in relation to the other characters, it mostly comes across as those kids in class that would just randomly blurt out whatever random thing came to their minds for the sake of being a part of the conversation or getting attention. The result is exactly the same as when those kids do it in real life, it feels awkward, breaks the natural flow of the conversation in a jarring manner, and generally makes the kids look kinda dumb.

Disorientation is pretty much the opposite of that, where the students are confused and out of their element. I don't know WHY you would want a bunch of confused, distraught teenagers being trusted with terraspheres that make them ultra powerful but apparently it's worked enough that the school wasn't immediately closed down.

The quirky protagonist is so overused now. That's why Shield Hero got popular cause the protagonist displayed real emotions that reflected his situation. Actually, most of anime/manga are that. You see Naruto being goofy, but at appropriate times, he's serious.

They feel so robotic as characters. The only thing felt slightly 'alive' here was Snapdragon stepping back from the hole when it appeared.
The reason studios intentionally make characters have different hair colors & hairstyles is to highlight main characters or distinguish them everyone else in a crowd, if you pause at 0:39, you can notice everyone here looks like a new shade of the damn rainbow spectrum, so first viewing, I couldn’t tell you who was the main characters if you just gave me this and told me to pick out the main cast.

After watching this clip. I feel so bad about disliking and shunning shows like “Totally Spies”, “Kim Possible”, “Wizards of Waverly Place” and “Tenchi in Tokyo” At least those shows had a likable cast, a good script that flows , good music, fun moments, and catching openings. The more high spice clips I watch, it made me feel more foolish about disliking all my formerly hated shows.

Not sure what you're talkin' 'bout. Still images with minimal movement is a staple of anime. Which isn't a bad thing, since it can allow the budget to go towards more worth while scenes. It's just that with a lot of anime the stories are engaging and interesting enough that the audience usually doesn't really notice or care about the lack of animation in these types of scenes. This 'anime' doesn't even have that much going for it, making the stiffness all the more glaring.
Facts 101: this had more money to be produced than jojojo bizarre adventure first season. Do you see which has a better animation?.
Having them alternate between being so in sync they're finishing each other's sentences and so out of sync they keep interrupting each other to go on wild tangents is really hard to get a feeling for.
I feel like there's gonna be a twist where it's revealed that these three are just the past, present, and future versions of the same person.
Openly mocking an obviously slow/troubled student in front of the new students, foregoing any sense of formal introduction for said new students, and giving an assignment that is both extremely confusing and virtually pointless in the long run. Sure, this may be today's education system to a "T", but DAMN, this is one of the WORST ways to present it! ("Woke Progressiveness" at its finest!)

It would have been better if the grandma was sassy for like about 1 minute, and at the end the mom would have yelled "can you shut up!" And then the grandma would have been like "ok..." and be all sad. Her sass was funny, got old quickly the more she kept doing it, but then if she was yelled at and then stopped talking we could have felt like "aw, she was just trying to be funny," at the end of it.

0:50- if you mute the dialogue, it looks like a still frame. Two of them just blink and that's that.
so, they ask them to write some bows, speak them into the well, and they already acknowledge the fact they will all be wrong.
Then, they try to be al "surprising" when revealing that everyone failed at portraying an appropieate guardian's bow.
Also, they made bows seem like they were something personal to each guardian, then went all: "nope. Either you have this exact bow, that takes like 5 minutes to recite, or you are a naive youngling who has no idea whatsoever of how the world goes".
This show feels like they just poached some of the most stereotypical tumblr residents and let them write a show.
If I ever cracked a smile it wasnt because "this old lady and characters are funny" it's because I asked myself "what the fuck is going on?"

We had zero expectations for this show and it still failed us
I like the Maiden, Mother, and Crone thing going on, but I imagine that's the extent of the effort they put into their mythos.
They may introduce this kind of mystery that those three may or may not just be one person split into three, but I don't trust these writers to be clever enough for the reveal to *_NOT_* be that they're one person.
Atleast those fight scenes in my imagination are 1000× better than this
you know its bad when all the male characters outshine the female characters
I think they tried to make the grandma a comic relief character but she just comes off as so annoying.
