Then again, it IS a Bunel movie, so strangeness is to be expected.

I mean it's not a Luis Buñuel movie if it's not strange and surreal.

Fabulous movie. Delicate satire. Different ways to interpret many scenes in the movie -as we tend to interpret things in life differently ourselves -depending upon mood even. It is not straitforward. This movie has its charme, as actually bourgeoisie itself?-otherwise so many won't be aspiring to be part of it? Despite periodically shooting all of those "parasites "?? And despite telling them there is no tea in a cafe left? This bourgeois think ordinary people won't notice the difference in between an evening dress and a delicate peignoir? What do they do? Cheat with each other, take drugs, and look at all snobbish? While they are transparent -and people look at them as at actors , playing shows? // I've just realized how angry was the director on bourgeois. Although his humor is discrete (I tend to think in a different way from tbe critics here), and, mostly, targeted to be fully understood by bourgeois itself or by highly intelligent people?

The movie responsible for one of the best lines in Whit Stillman's Metropolitan: "The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie: When I heard that title, I thought finally someone was going to tell the truth about the bourgeoisie. It would be hard to imagine a less fair and accurate portrait..."
