The portal should turn off when the servers are down, and come back on when everything's functional.

I enjoyed this expansion so much, maybe because I was still a kid and I had no idea about the technical stuff, about dungeons and raids and whatever, I just played the game, just moving my character around was enough, doing quests and seeing how beautiful draenor zones were, listening to the music, exploring the game. As an adult now years later, I'm trying to recover this way of seeing things, not worrying about grinding stuff, or meta or clearing content with the utmost efficiency. I want to escape this optimization matrix, and just go back to having fun with the game
This is such a refreshing take to see in this community. I also started WoW during late MOP/early WOD as a kid and didn’t care for any sort of grinding - I just loved the story and the characters and the world.
I have just recently returned to WoW and this is how I play the game now too. The world of Warcraft is such a masterpiece of an open world. It might not be graphically as nice as some modern single player games nor as dynamic, but it has a unique style of both visuals and music. While FF14 has a better story and some MMOs have better graphics, I don't think anyone has ever managed to nail the same FEEL that WoW already had decades ago. It's hard to explain and might even be an interesting topic to look into from a game design/game art perspective. One of the best open worlds (if not the best) ever created in my opinion.

@@chewie__ OMG, I started in late MOP too. Siege of Orgrimmar was the first raid I did. The scale of that "level" is absolutely insane (even compared to other "final dungeon" type levels in other games)!

@@Halilbel It's not ? That's human 1 from ROC. It's called blackrock because it was played during Blackrock & Roll.
In Blackrock & Roll, the theme begin with an orc theme, then recede to the one you hear in that video, as you win the map.

Oddly enough, this login music fills me with nostalgia due to it being my first time playing
6:40-7:29 always gives me chills.
5 years late but the way the build up cascades over itself reminds me of the lava spilling out of the mountains in Blackrock if that makes sense

Vanilla and TBC had similar ones.
(Both featured the portal, Vanilla showcasing it for vanity as the portal had no true purpose at the time. The portal had a bare color, which made it seem like it was inactive. For BC the portal had a familiar green color because it now allowed players to access Outland.
Since I played only until BC, long time ago, I used to think that all games had the portal and it was like an iconic thing or something. But then I saw that Wrath had the dragon, and Cata had another dragon, and I didn't see the Mists...
Yeah.
I don't remember the dragon in WoTLK having any purpose, since the Lich King is the main antagonist of that expansion, but I do think it served the Lich King in some way though, considering its skeletal look.
The Dragon is Sindragosa, as far as I know, she died 10 000 years ago, either due to Deathwing's betrayal, or the sundering, since she was thrown all the way to Northrend and then she died there, succumbing the her wounds. Not 100% sure, but it's one of those 2, or both, somehow. She is the last boss before the lich king in Icecrown citadel.
I wanna propose a moment of peace between alliance and horde and look up to the sky and salute blizzard

I like the garrison very much. Warlords is best for me. Just my opinion.

That fact that the entire theme is mostly orc themed, But then at the end the human theme at the end plays at the end, Im not sure but I have a theory that this could be a nod to what might happen in Warlords of Draenor? Perhaps the Alliance will do something significant? I'm curious.
Lots of stuff are happening with the Draenei. I feel Varian will have some moral dilemmas to choose too, seeming as he never wanted this war, but Maraad showed him that he had no choice.

Sorry folks, but I actually enjoyed this xpansion. Story, Draenor, and quests were awesome. The garrisons were not good, but fans were begging for player housing since 2004, so not blaming blizzard for that.
Literally said all of that myself, except garrisons, I liked Garrisons too.
BFA made me miss WOD. Goddamn.

Indeed... Warlords had more Lore potential then any other expansion. Warlords had so many iconic things that are the bread and butter of Warcraft lore. It just hurts my heart how this influx of new age players will never understand what Warcraft is all about. Sure Warlords failed at so many levels, but the potential is too amazing for it to be just abandonded in favor of a leather wearing dominatrix that caters to the fetish and feministic nature of Retail wow.

Loving the Shadowlands prepatch because now I can relive the WoD leveling zones (which I believe the best the game ever had) all starting as a level 10.
This music represents what WoD could've been.
WoD was bad for its time but it's better than Legion, BfA, and SL. WoD had a great gearing system that players have been demanding to come back. Which it looks like Blizzard is finally doing in Dragonflight after years of saying "no" to their customers and losing subs. It was also the last expansion before borrowed power was a thing. WoD's biggest problem was there really wasn't much to do outside of instanced content. A problem that has only worsened in later expansions. WoD apparently also had loads of content that was cut from the finished product last minute. Why? Not sure. Probably rushing.
I am a rare person, I started playing during WoD, so this music brings kinda tears to my eyes, because it sounds so epic at the beginning and I always cry, listening to Alliance Garrison music, I really loved the expansion and I am glad it made me love WoW so much (I am a girl). Honestly, WoD will always be special to me.

I’m glad to see there are people who feel the same. I started in late MoP and spent most of that time in older expansions but Warlords was like nothing I had seen in the game before. The questing and world design were amazing to me and a stark change from Mists. And I very much enjoyed finding the details Blizzard put in which connect the two timelines. (For example, one of the Garrison followers, Talonpriest Ishaal, is a minor boss in Outland’s Skettis, and you can find uncorrupted Rilak the Redeemed in Stormshield.) But what really got me hooked was the soundtrack. The music added so much to the world and really complemented the stories told in the questlines. I still listen to it to this day and I know practically all of it by heart. (Yes, I know it’s a bit extreme haha)
I get chills listening to Scrollkeeper Reshad tell the story of Terokk’s downfall and descent into madness. WoD really paved the way for Legion and now BfA, and the ironic part is that WoD could have been truly wonderful had Blizzard spent actual time improving it rather than rushing straight to Legion mid-development.
What’s interesting is that they are returning to Draenor briefly in BfA but the timeline has caught up and it’s 35 years after the Iron Horde collapsed. Let me warn you now; if you liked Yrel, just be prepared before you read up on what happens. No, she doesn’t die.
PS: Arakkoa allied race please, Blizzard. They were definitely the most fascinating lore of the expansion, and if anyone who reads this agrees, go check out the Apocrypha short story on WoW’s website. It really fleshes out the Adherents of Rukhmar and many of the characters from the Spires of Arak questline in extremely interesting ways.
