If you're a fan of food, art, music, literature, history, coffee, tea, beer, or whiskey, put Galway on your Ireland vacation itinerary. Conde Nast Traveler has called Galway one of Ireland's most exciting foodie destinations in 2018. Its restaurants won a number of "best of" awards at The Food Awards Ireland 2022. The city is rich in history. Plus, there's live music to enjoy in the streets and in the pubs, a poetry trail, great bookstores, and there's beautiful Galway Bay to stroll along.
Here's what we did and where we went:
1. Enjoyed Tea Time at The Galmont Hotel.
2. Shopped at Charlie Byrne's bookshop.
3. Drank Old Fashioneds at Sonny Molloy's. The pub is part of the Galway Whiskey Trail.
4. Listened to impromptu trad music at The Crane Bar.
5. Ate Italian food at Il Vicolo.
6. Checked out Eyre Square.
7. Drank cappuccinos from CoffeeWerk + Press.
8. Melissa had a white mocha and almond croissant from Le Petit Delice.
9. Walked the Salthill Promenade along Galway Bay.
10. Found a couple of Poetry Trail poems during our walk.
11. Checked out the Spanish Arch.
12. Ate lunch at Tuco's Tacos.
13. Visited Lynch's Castle, which is now a bank.
14. Shopped at Thomas Dillon's for Claddagh ring necklaces.
15. Visited Lynch's Memorial Window.
16. Had an afternoon snack at Stodge Face Donuts.
17. Took a selfie or two with Oscar Wilde.
18. Went into the Eyre Square Center mall to see the original city wall.
19. Enjoyed a pint (Chris) and a gin and tonic (Melissa) at The King's Head.
20. We had our Monday Night Date Night dinner at Hyde Bar. We haven't missed one Monday Night Date Night in the 7+ years that we've been together!

The Crane bar has been top venue for Irish traditional music for years in West of Ireland. Goto place for Galway for sure.
Love Dave Grohl. Greatest moment of my life (other than getting married and witnessing the birth of my children) was attending a Foofighters concert. Dave was singing one of his unplugged songs, finished the song, ran up a ramp handing off his acoustic guitar, ten more feet running up the ramp full speed someone handed him his blue Gibson, a few seconds later he was plugged in belting and screaming out a typical song that the Foo is known for. If your going to one of Dave’s concerts, take the day off before and after. Last time I saw the Foo, the day after I couldn’t hear, had a splitting headache, and completely lost my voice but NEVER felt better in my whole life.
On the streets of Galway, my Minnesotan wife was first introduced to Irish Coffee. She has become a huge fan and we have even learned how to make it at home
It is tasty. Hopefully you guys aren't making it everyday as your morning coffee. 🤣
@@chrisplusmelissa Weekends only. Melissa, you are Soooo Minnesotan
Wow gunpowder it just won best gin award and beat the rock into number 2 you the actor the rock
That Dave Grohl book is so good!
That's exactly what I expect an Irish Pub should be like.
Galway 🙌💚
Jack Lynch was Irish prime minister in the eighties. He was from Cork.
Blues / Bluegrass is definitely rooted in traditional Irish music, so well done spotting the similarity!
Ulster Scots not Gaelic Irish
That’s Andy Friend Connacht rugby coach sitting in the pub!
Who? Where?
The singing reminds me of the my father who used to break out in a song at every family event. Family weddings with my father and uncles used to be fabulous
Ahhh you inadvertently discovered Irish time. We are always late lol
There is an old style of irish singing called sean nos in the Irish language ,similar to what you heard but in irish(gaelic) which you would hear in connemara west of galway .Connemara is a wild region west of galway city its also a gaeltacht area which an irish speaking area. They are actually people there who have poor english because they speak irish as there predominant tongue.
My husband and I would love to have a couple like you to travel with!! We love your interaction with one another and your overall personalities!!
Awe thanks for the nice words... we do get grumpy sometimes tho! :D
Going to Galway soon. Thanks for all the great suggestions
Hope you enjoy it!
Where did you get your adorable pink sweater!! You guys are the best! Thanks for making these videos!
Thank you so much! I bought it at Weavers of Ireland in Kinsale. There are several locations around the country though. Here's their website: weaversofireland.com/
Love the singing!!
You were so Lucky with the weather, glad you enjoyed our town, I’ll have to go for tacos now.
We have been in Ireland for 3 months and we have had great weather. Only a couple adventures where it wasn't so nice. Galway is lovely!
I'm digg'n the Irish vibe!!
Omg first 5 minutes of your video made me chuckle not that I'm 1/4 way through I see you have irish roots 💯 watch first post later lesson learned ha
We actually live in Ireland but I'm picking up ideas for road trips from you guys. We moved to West Cork six years ago and haven't seen half the stuff you've covered!
Sometimes life just takes up all the time! :D Great to hear you're going to explore more of Ireland! Do you like living in West Cork?
As Gaeilge le do thoil, after all your in Galway. You were right there in the edge of the Gaeltacht. You were in the bookstore and didn't even think about looking at the Irish language books. You didn't get to Spanish Arch either. You could have tried the King's Head. That was owned by the man selected to behead the King of England. So much to do, so little time. I had three days and could have spent three weeks there. Slan
I love the humour between you guys sounds very irish to me ha are you sure there's no irish roots ha
Melissa is part Irish... me, none. :)
It's probably the only Taco shop in Ireland.
Nonsense. There are hundreds. 🤦♀️
Hey guys...we have been watching your Ireland videos in preparation for our trip in May. Thanks for taking the time to put all the Ireland videos together. (we know first-hand how much time this takes!) Full support from us! Cheers!

Just found you guys this aft, giving me ideas for my first trip home from Australia for 15 years. Very interesting that you’re based in Kinsale. Maybe we’re related as you mentioned Lynch from Cork and Galway. My mother was a Lynch. Based from around Robert’s Cove near Kinsale. Loads of Lynch’s around that area still I believe. Will watch more of your excellent videos soon. Thank you, Michael
Thank you for the kind words! Ireland is a lovely country!
great video! we stayed at an Air bnb in Salthill promenade when we were there. We still didnt see everything & we were there for a week!
Hi ive only just found your channel and i have to say that its excellent viewing . top notch camera work , video editing and very cool music choices for your content. the two of you are such fun and total naturals in front of the camera.
Im Irish myself so its really heart warming to see you enjoy your adventures across Ireland, its always great to see Ireland through the lens of visitors here as we very often forget how lucky we are to live in such a place.
by the way i knew Melissa had Irish heritage before she even mentioned it in this video, as she definately has Irish eyes. as for Chris he looks like Russel Crowe, not sure if you heard that before 🙂
Anyway awesome work , ive just subbed and ill be looking forward to watching more 👍👍
Awe thanks Talons! Ireland is a delight and we intend to see it again. I have had a few say I look like Mr. Crow. And also like old Luke Skywalker. Melissa has a lot of Irish... she's 51.6% Irish according to 23andme. Thanks for taking the time to watch. It is appreciated.
Awesome video love you guys energy 😁. Please tell me the name of the place where you had the high tea and i think i heard your hubby say that red tea in the teapot is strawberry cream tea? I will be in Galway end of March and would love to do this 😊🙏
The video description has all the info. It was in our hotel. Thank you for the kind comments!
Galway and Cork! Ooh, maybe we're related... I'm Canadian, my grand-mother great-grand-parents came from Ireland in the 1840's-50's to Canada... I've done a lot of research, found where we come from... Cork or at least a small village in the vicinity of Cork city... and near Galway, well, I should say near Kinvara there's a castle called Dunguaire... it's been build by my ancestors, I've been told!
Perhaps we are! Have you given 23andme a try?
@@chrisplusmelissa No, I haven't done those tests yet... Just plain old genealogy research, in the old fashion way! LOL.
😁
Melissa, did you know that Che Guevara ( yes the Cuban revolutionary) was a direct descendent of a chap named Patrick lynch from Galway? Due to English persecution he fled Ireland and ended up in Buenos Aires in 1749. The photograph taken by Alberto Korda was adapted by Irish print artist Jim Fitzpatrick and it became the iconic image on millions of posters and t-shirts through out the world ever since. The actual photo was taken in 1960 while the print was made sometime in the late sixties.
I did not know that. That's fascinating!
Melissa rocking the Niagara Falls hoodie! If you're reading this and haven't seen that video go to their page and check it out!
The first ever American to say Galway correctly? 😲 I'm actually shocked, unless you learned? 😑
