If you don't know the background, I suggest start from episode 14. That is what I did. It is an excellent drama.
Honestly, it doesn't matter if you have watched previous adaptations or not. I watched 'Ultimate note' without a single clue about Grave robbers chronicles. I only knew about 'The mystic nine' because I loved watching dramas that Lay Zhang acted. However, even though I later found out 'Ultimate note' and 'The Mystic nine' both belong to same series, I watched 'Ultimate note' first. If you're able to connect the details in line correctly, it's okay to watch 'Ultimate note' first and the rest.

season 4= Tibetan sea flower ( this season is not aired yet)

It will, however, help you to better understand the family politics that is mentioned throughout the lost tomb series.. i have not seen mystic nine completely but i know that there is a story of wu xie's uncles, father, grandfather, grand grandfather, zhang rishan, zhang qishan (uncle budha)... the story revolves around these characters..
