    Let’s be real. Zoro probably got the strongest teeth/jaw in all of One Piece if not most all Anime.
    Bros. Stop saying Arlong. His teeth were broken and made to regrow. Zoros teeth are unbroken in manga.
    Even skinny Wapol has a manga panel of missing a tooth after being kicked by luffy.
    Zoro has never had this artistic expression. Dudes teeth are more durable than the gorosei

      Pretty sure it is possible you just have to keep bringing one hand in front of the other and time it really well. You just need to make sure that when you need to rotate a sword past your arm, the hand holding that sword is in front, and then alternate with perfect timing.
      I just tried it really slowly with a ruler and a pencil@@RevyT-js7ui

    • @kailmek
      @kailmek Před 7 měsíci +29

      @@RevyT-js7ui well there is a way you could do it but it would take a lot of practice, and doing a frame-by-frame of the shot of Zoro doing it shows how you could manage the trick:
      The key is to make sure that the swords are spun in a fashion that has them crossing their paths at your left or right positions for maximum time.
      In your right hand is the sword rotating to the left and down (and critically, this hand is extended a few inches further out) while in your left hand the sword is rotating to the right and up (and your hand must be a few inches tucked in) allowing the swords to pass each other off to your left.
      As you continue the rotation, your right-hand sword is now angled down, and your left-hand sword is now angling up.
      Now you pull your right hand in and push your left hand out, reversing the previous stance.
      Now when both swords are crossing on your right you have your right hand sword rotating up and tucked in while your left hand sword is held extended out while it rotates down.
      Once the swords cross to again switch hand positions, send the right hand out in front while pulled the left hand in close.
      Like I said though, this would take an extremely extended training period to perfect not only the timing required for the spin but also how you have to control the rotation of each blade using only one hand, as well as managing the switching positions of your hands.

      It would be extremely inefficient and harmful only to the user. You can barely generate any force with an object held between your teeth and any impact will send horrible shockwaves straight through your teeth, into your skull and into your neck ... all of which you´d be better off protecting. Worst of all: You yourself are more than likely to be the one delivering that blow while clumsily managing your other two swords (acting out a Kata and dynamically interacting with an opponent are two different things entirely).

    What people didn’t realize when it came to Zoros 3 sword style was that he primarily used it to gain all the power of his swords. Each sword had a spirit of its own that he embued himself with. Other wise he’d just use 2 sword style

      That’s not the reason.
      ,,Also, the reason he has 3 swords is that after Kuina dies, he asked her father to gift him with her sword. Since he couldn't beat her with 2 swords, he figured that 3 would be stronger. As long as Zoro can firmly grab the sword, then it serves its purpose .Nov 9, 2560 BE”.

    • @Zanador
      @Zanador Před 9 měsíci +53

      That's certainly one interpretation, but none of that is ever stated explicitly in the series. We see that as a kid he thought that more swords = more stronger (that's why there's a shot of him trying to hold like 16 swords at once as a little kid), and then he inherited Kuina's sword after already having two swords, so he probably just wanted to use all three of the swords he had.

    • @Kanriel
      @Kanriel Před 9 měsíci +5

      Well, maybe in the story NOW this is the reason. And would have to check the original manga to see if this holds true for it, but in the live action, Zoro uses his two normal blades in his left and right, and the Wado Ichimonji in his mouth. So the principle of your comment may be the case for things, because his 3rd sword would give him the power/spirit of the Wado there. But it doesn't make a lot of sense for him not just using the Wado as a normal sword and just having a 3rd scabbard or being a nitoryu swordsman.

    • @Alaskanman
      @Alaskanman Před 9 měsíci +16

      @@tobii894My interpretation is pretty similar, but I think zoro learned how to use three swords as a symbolic way of bringing kuina with him to the top. It was hinted when he asked her father if he could keep her sword to become strong for the both of them. That's why he holds her sword in his mouth while the other two are his original dual sword style. He developed his three sword style just for kuina

    My first thoughts as someone who knows nothing about swordplay, is that the mouth sword (assuming you have super strong teeth and neck muscles) is a permanent horizontal guard while one of the other two swords can remain held vertically/diagonal to deflect other swipes, and then the third can be used for offence even while defending completely. This is not what zoro does, but that's the thought process I had on why 3 swords may be beneficial.

    I only seen Santoryu style used by Zoro, and Shinogi from Tenchu. It sadly seems impossible to do that with real swords, but you did pretty well, I learn a lot of new things from your videos, keep making more!!

      It has to do with the fact that real swords have some considerable weight to them so "holding" one with your mouth doesn't only seem impractical, but dangerous as well, especially for your teeth. You also have to factor in that Zoro has superhuman strength and that the animation helps in making his moves look smooth and effortless.

    I've noticed *and I'm not complaining* that Zoro in live action One Piece uses the 3rd sword less, I imagine becsuse using it during speaking parts doesn't translate well to real life. However the uses he's had for it so far have been practical. (He had it up to a guys throat at one point.) I wouldnt mind to see them incorporate some elements of the real Santoryu in live action which isn't to use all 3 swords at onc, but to use the 3rd as a suprise or hidden blade.

    • @o-shawnspecific80
      @o-shawnspecific80 Před 9 měsíci +8

      You know I do wonder if Zoros style could actually be achieved with a Katana that has an insert on the hilt thats designed to be bitten down on. Would also have to be weighted differently than a normal sword. Probably a heavier hilt and lighter/shorter blade. A wakazashi would probably work better than a Katana.

    • @ToruUchikado
      @ToruUchikado  Před 9 měsíci +13

      Yes I did notice that there were only a few moments with Santoryu.
      If you are to realistically and safely portray Santoryu style on screen, I think the best way would be to use a hilt without the blade and add it by CGI later. With the budget like Netflix, they can definitely add CGI blade.
      A foam sword wouldn’t work so well as it will be flappy and if anything heavier than a foam sword, there is a risk for the actor and people who perform with him. That's my thought after trying it for myself!

    About the spinning swords for Sanzen Sekai, I think he alternates which sword is in front.
    Like when the blade of the left arm is going to pass by his right hand, it goes in front, but when the handle is going to pass by his right hand, it goes behind.
    With the small gap in distance between the sword needed to pass by the other hand and the fast speed of it, it looks like they are parallel.
    OR, it could be that the swords are slightly slanted, so the when viewed from the side, the blade is further out than the handle.
    Either way, it looks so cool to see you trying it out. Due to our short necks and low flexibility, Santouryu is really not practical eh? XD
    Thanks for the vid!
