I'm just so sad for these moms/dads not being allowed to be at the Olympics watching their child in action. How can we do an Olympics with NO spectators? It's unheard of.💔 #TeamUSA

@@pauherr of course I know about the pandemic. These athletes waited an extra year for these olympics because of the pandemic. Everyone clearly believed by Olympic time this year, things would be different, somewhat under control. Unfortunately, Japan just had a recent rise in Covid cases, bad enough to declare a state of emergency. With that came the decision to ban spectators.
They could have worked out a strict protocol for parents who wanted to be there and were willing to adhere to it. Atleast give an option. Its must be very hard for them because they dream of the Olympics along with their child and is usually a strong support system.
@@sandrap6308 It would have been logistically near-impossible to safely arrange for the parents of literally every athlete at the Olympics to be able to be there. They would need to all go into quarantine for a period (and where is Japan supposed to find room for this?) and it would be near-impossible to ensure everyone adhered to it. And all it takes is one parent not adhering to protocols and infecting an athlete near to the stands or walking past etc, and that athlete's Olympic dream is over. It's obviously more important to do everything the can to reduce the risk of an athlete catching covid and not being able to compete than it is to allow family members in the crowd.
I get the US doesn't have quarantine like we do in New Zealand for anyone travelling here from overseas (here, you generally have to spend 14 days upon arrival in a quarantine facility and have several negative covid tests), but anyone in NZ knows that no matter how rigorous we've tried to make our safety measures, there have been multiple incidents of people deliberately breaking the rules and putting people's lives at risk by e.g. tying sheets together to lower themselves out their hotel window because of something stupid like wanting to go buy maccas or just being bored. (Even though they knew what they were signing up for and had the privilege of being able to return and get a quarantine place in the fist place - there are so many people still waiting for a quarantine space so they can get home). We've also had people working in quarantine facilities who would falsely claim they had been vaccinated, or not do the mandatory regular testing they are meant to do etc. And since we have had 0 community cases for most of the past year, the only times we've had community cases were from things going wrong at the border (and in some cases when they trace the cases to work out how it got into the community, it would end up being something that didn't even involve direct human contact, but rather e.g. from someone who later tested positive with covid simply touching some kind of surface while checking-in to their quarantine hotel, and then sometime later a staff member touched the same surface, got covid, then goes home and it spreads to their family members etc).
So I guess the somewhat unique experience of living in New Zealand during the pandemic makes it pretty clear that know that no matter just how rigorous the measures are that are put in place, it's still virtually impossible to not have something go wrong and have infection spread. Particularly with the even more contagious delta variant etc. So there really is no way that they could safely allow all parents of every single athlete to be able to be in the stands watching, without posing a significant risk that an athlete could get infected from such a person and then be out of the Olympics. Whether it's innocently, or by someone deliberately breaking the rules (which would statistically likely happen given the number of people coming to NZ who deliberately broke rules when given the privilege of getting to enter the country and get a scarce quarantine spot).
Atleast we won't be alone. All athletes from all countries will be going through the same thing. It will be strange, though, with no spectators at all, but I understand.
Hoda interviews so well. None of us are reduced to our single worst or best moment. We are all deserving of love and compassion. Sending them love and all the best!

What Gina did was absolutely wrong and should be punished, when and how is not my place to say because I ain't no lawyer or judge however Jordan shouldn't be punished for her Mom's crime. This sentence was done since November 2020 and its only being reported at this very specific time🤔. Jordan has obviously known about it for quite some time and still have performed at a high level. Can't even imagine what that additional stress was like for her. Lets support this hard working young lady who is doing everything in her power to bring home a medal for the USA. As much as we love our darling Simone she needs her team mates to perform well to win a team medal. Best wishes to her and the team.

When the interviewer mentioned that Gina Chiles committed WIRE FRAUD it took me out! All I can think about how Jordan must be feeling.. I would be so embarrassed, and why would they even put this in the interview?? Federal Prison does this in special circumstances for example they don't lock up two parents at the same time. They may have on parent do their sentence first so the other one can be home with the kids. Then the other parent turns themselves in

A lot of people are missing the point that Jordan’s mom stole over 1million dollars. Why it’s relevant is the cost it takes to hire Olympic level coaches, trainers, practice facilities. So the question is would her talent have been developed if her mother didn’t live off, of others live savings. Not taking away from Jordan but so many talented youth don’t get a chance in life/sports because of their financial status.
Chiles has been on the national team for many years. Someone with her talent would’ve been noticed regardless at the junior elite level and provided funding to continue training. Many of these girls actually come from humble beginnings and the funding through USA gymnastics is what allows them to compete at this level.
Also, I double-checked the timeline for Gina Chiles’ fraudulent activities and they began in 2014. Jordan Chiles was already in junior elite by 2013 and performed very well at American Classics that year and had already qualified for the junior elite team, which means she had secured funding via her own talent before Gina Chiles’ thievery began.

Skinner liked racially abusive tweets aimed at Gabby Douglas when she made the team over Skinner. Skinner was also out and about while she was covid positive and didn’t isolate. She’s really not a good person

On a lighter note, just hours ago, a judge delayed Gina's prison start date to the end of August, because Jordan is in the Olympics. That was kind of the judge.❤

@@1goldbaby when I said "that was kind", I meant it sarcastically. Because, it's almost unheard of for a judge to offer any delay in sentencing. Had she been prosecuted on a state level, she would have been taken into custody immediately (the day she pled guilty). However, Federal prosecution (in most cases), gives criminals a "report to prison date".

Just this afternoon, a judge delayed Gina's prison sentence start date till the end of August. She will serve 1 year & 1 day. Because it's federal prison, she will serve each day, the entirety of the sentence.

Grace has like 5 younger brothers and sisters, so her mom probably did the interview in the car because that’s where it would be quietest so there wouldn’t be kids screaming in the back

Wow that's harsh but trueee. She will not make floor or vault finals. Jade and Simone score higher any day of the week. That's why Mykayla should've been on the team, and Riley the specialist. Riley's chances of winning a medal were slim but bigger than Mykayla's.
MyKayla and Jade’s vaults are very similar in terms of how they come out on scoring.
Each has an equal opportunity.
She could get a medal like bronze any medal would make Skinner and Jade happy

Jade could've easily made the team just fine, but she would've had to give up the specialist spot she earned by consistently winning world cups for 4 years. USAG and Jade chose that it would be better to win medals with 6 people than just 5. Jade has earned her spot even more than Mykayla/Grace/Jordan.

In the last 3 years she chose to only go for high difficulty floor and vault, but she still can step up her bars like Simone and Aly for the next Olympics if she wants to, and her beam isn't bad at all, even now. Her own floor difficulty (which could rival Simone's) would give one room for error on beam for the team.

@@1goldbaby this is the dumbest comment because of how outlandish and ridiculous it is. there’s nothing online that suggests their relationship is toxic whatsoever. they are amazing teammates who love and support each other very much.
