    the animation rig speed difference from 2022 to 2023 is amazingly fast. that was my biggest best shock from Maya in years. Also most of the "money maker" shops out there buy Maya as a framework codebase and then write their own tools around it. ive seen some instances of Maya that dont even look like Maya anymore.

      probably because Maya was built for SGI IRIS/IRIX which is a hell of a lot closer to M1 then it is to intel chips. I was around when the first windows Maya became available. before that you needed a 30 grand SGI and power animator (predecessor to Maya) was like 15 grand. kids these days dont understand how good they have it. and dont get me started on sending out VHS demo reels and the 100 dollar pop from the post office. Autodesk should make layered skinning and weightpainting the way that the NGSkinning tools plugin does it. So many TDs I know can't live without this plugin now for weighting in maya(especially complex facial joints). It handles smoothing way smarter as well.

      @MichaelLangmayer Před rokem +6

      Maya and Blender are both powerful 3D computer graphics software used by professionals and enthusiasts for creating animations, models, and visual effects for various industries such as gaming, films, and advertising.
      Maya has been a dominant player in the industry for many years and is widely used by professionals due to its robust feature set, stability, and support for complex animation workflows. Maya is also used by many large studios for its ability to handle massive data sets and complex scenes.
      Blender, on the other hand, has gained popularity in recent years due to its free and open-source nature, a strong community of users and developers, and a powerful toolset that includes features such as sculpting, 3D painting, and compositing.
      While both Maya and Blender have their strengths and weaknesses, the choice between the two ultimately depends on the specific needs and requirements of the user. Maya may be a better choice for studios and professionals who need a reliable and robust toolset, while Blender may be a better choice for hobbyists and small studios who are looking for a powerful toolset that is also affordable.

Great APi, easy to make tools and scripts, good Python integration, connects to Unreal and other apps easily too. Its easy to blame a tool when you dont know how to use it properly I guess.
