    Mzwakhe the giant
    By Brendon Mokalapa
    People’s poet, African poet,
struggle poet, poet for the oppressed.
A father, a friend, the young Mandela, the universal poet.
Globally known, from the eighties have been sworn.
A vulgar proof, the tallest I ever seen,
    Mzwakhe the giant man.
His creative juice never ceases even now,
his creative juice still continues to flow.
In the apartheid era, his poetry did blow.
    Mzwakhe the giant,
the peace, mind freedom and acknowledgement gallivant.
    Mzwakhe the giant.
    He is bombastically abled,
    naturally doubled.
    Supernaturally dubbed.
    Bombarded with talent,
    brave internally and outside.
    Filled with knowledge, surely multitalented.
Born and delivered in 1959, August the first, into a poor Xhosa-Zulu family,
but poverty didn’t withhold him from being the master of success in poetry.
Even when his family’s house was flagitiously bulldozed and forced to live in Soweto. Well, he is still the old Mbuli.
Oppressors oppressed him too, leaving him clotheless, oh what a shame.
but surely now they have grave numbers without him laying a finger on them.
But his poetic juice, music aromat was not taken from him.
    Mzwakhe the giant.
“Sies’ and ‘Ignorant” was the beginning of Mzwakhe,
but even before that “GOD’s miracle” was already alive.
Mzwakhe Mbuli the giant, in the mist of apartheid he was heavier than authorities.
the so called “die long man” among the police securities.
But truly he is an unbroken spirit.
    He was harassed, punished, abused.
in a single decade arrested 8 times and denied 39 times passport.
surely the burning of his “change is pain” album didn’t destroy him, but did motivate.
    Behold Mzwakhe the legend,
the international role model, my personal dream driver, a gallon of talent, with me I know we can change the world,
    Mzwakhe the giant.
His words are not just spoken,
they are implemented daily and the enemy left broken.
His words on music piracy saved music industry over 19 million Rands.
He retired from recording music in 2009,
but music genes never die, thus he continued writing.
You must be in the ocean, in order to write about the ocean. Mbuli was challenged, in order to write about challenge.
    Mzwakhe the giant.
