Where are you fishing the river at? I have gone there a few times up at the Mississippi in Iowa. Caught my only flathead there when I was little he was like 1lb, haven’t got one since.
This was in Minnesota, you just gotta find structure and put time in on the river. I’ve had so many trips and caught nothing. And fished the same spots and caught 6 in one day. It’s all about just putting time on the water and fishing near structure.
That was a nice catfish, even if you thought it was going to be bigger. I've never caught one that big. Thanks for sharing your adventure.

Those white bass make good live bait too if you can’t get drum or bluegill.
I wish I could use them but it’s illegal in my state unfortunately
