Fentanyl/butyr-fentanyl is used on rhinos and elephants in Africa. It works but is very slow. You have to wait many minutes(sometimes an hour) before the animal gives up the fight and sits down, then more time since it's too tired to stand, but NOT too tired to kick/bite you when you try to get close.
