    I got the LTX BF8 . Pretty much the same reel and without a doubt it casts further than all my Daiwas and Shimanos . Messing about with the magnet confiq is not my thing though . I still dont know what works best , nor can i be bothered trying to find out .
    You can buy a Roro brake and spool upgrade for these reels and you can also just do a magnet mod and change out and add slightly thicker magnets . Then there is the Avail spool and magnet system upgrade . Hedgehog bfs or Roro micro bearings (you ll lose distance though but gain lower casting weight ) . There is so much you can do with these reels if its your thing . The Abu Garcia Revo ALC-BF7 come on sale at times for 17000-18000 yen but only in left hand wind wihich sucks for me . Try the reel with a rod that rated from 1-7g with a sweet spot of about 3.5 - 5g total weight . You ll hit spots on the horizon you never reached before if its anything like mine or others i have seen .

      First rod is rated 2-10 with that 6-8g sweet spot. Great feedback - and yeah there are a lot of options for upgrades.

    Aaron,
    Son of a gun. Started watching the video, thought it looked really nice and went to Digitaka to checked it out. The price was right, But they are out of stock, which you confirmed later in your video. Please let us all know what you think, curious to see if I missed out, on a good deal or saved. Good luck with the reel.

      Thanks. I do see some on eBay periodically as well. It will hit the water with me tomorrow, and I'll definitely fish it for a few trips and different techniques to see if I'm inclined to keep picking it over other options.

    Definitely NOS because you have oil. I would expect you have a reel from the first one or two years that it was introduced The Revo MGXtreme ($549 originally and about 4.6 oz), has oil; the RevoMGX2 ($499, originally and about 4.8oz) which came out later, and has the same box with an empty oil slot does not. Your right, the spools are too heavy for ULBFS. Casting the TM will be easier with the MM7.1, or the Accura HICC 50. Great Video as always. The KKEII with brake shielding is also good(and cheaper)

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Před rokem +1

      Appreciate the confirmation of my suspicions! The KK VEII is not available in the US (or to be shipped to the US) - and KK has earned the "do not mention" status on my channel in general due to their business practices and customer service. :P
      There seem to be a lot of Aftermarket spools for this, so it may become a platform for modifications too.

    How does this older ABU REVO ALC-BF7 compare to the new ABU NEO F?

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Před 11 měsíci

      Well, the Neo F7 isn't a BFS reel to start with,weighs about 25% more, has a much deeper spool, and I think less bearings as a starting point. Haven't looked at it in depth though because it doesn't appear to be BFS capable. It is certainly cheaper and more readily available.

    • @vehiclemiracle-nd6qp
      @vehiclemiracle-nd6qp Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@AaronHuntFishing You're right. It does have less bearings. I didn't compare the weight specs but with a composite body I would assume the NEO F is relatively light weight. It does however come with two spools, a shallow one and a deeper one. Maybe not exactly a dedicated BFS reel but the NEO F appears to be pretty versatile. I don't have the tons of cash to spend on owning several reels, and the ones that have been touted as the best "do it all" reels are hard to get and fetch a premium price when available. I was also looking at the ABU GARCIA ZENON MG7. That looks like a nice reel and you can find them at a reasonable price considering its a "high end" model. Any thoughts on the Zenon MG7 JDM reel? I like that it has a magnetic braking system instead of centrifugal. Any thoughts on centrifugal vs magnetic? I could not find any online reviews on the ZENON MG7 except a couple videos in Japanese. The CZcams translator is not always a perfect 1:1 interpretation...

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Před 11 měsíci

      @@vehiclemiracle-nd6qp No, as I mentioned in the video this is my first ABu reel. I like the magnetic braking systems - they seem to be easier to use, and the good ones are very consistent. If I was looking for a "do everything" budget reel for BFS and conventional, I'd either geta Kistler Chromium with an extra BFS spool or a Daiwaw Tatula 80 (maybe 70) and an aftermarket BFS spool - maybe bearings.

      Hopefully this summer I can finally get some true objective, measurable data to compare reels head to head. I'm working on a project. :)

    Look better the US market reel and resemble the ABU GARCIA NEO F

    • @AaronHuntFishing
      @AaronHuntFishing  Před rokem

      it does resemble the Neo F. the Neo is 189 grams though, with a deep, standard spool obviously. So with the weight difference probably a very different reel, just similar design elements.
