I was leaning towards the local store for most of the video... then the SAILOR MOON SHIRT APPEARED 🌙 That shirt won it for Goodwill 🌟

I liked the part when you talked about how rude people can be to strangers in a store, pushing them, giving a dirty look etc. So sorry about that rude women who just pushed in front of you and grabbed the necklace. There was a time when my mother was grocery shopping and this random woman yelled at her for putting her own basket on the ground to grab something saying “that’s dangerous someone could trip.” There was also a time when I was in Walmart with my mother after the pandemic. I opened a shampoo lid to sniff it and closed it. I notice this random woman right next to me blankly staring at me. I walked away. There was a time when I was walking through the train station and I felt a strange hand on my back pushing me once and twice. I wasn’t sure who it was. People are so screwed up in the head. 😵‍💫🤦🏻‍♀️

OH MY GOODNESS I’m so sorry that happened!!! 💖💖💖 I have no clue what’s wrong with people!!! 😵‍💫 I just went to the dollar store the other day, and this older woman was giving me the dirtiest look for no reason! All I was doing was looking at cat calendars and then she shoved past me! There was plenty of room too! 😤😤😤

@@angelic_jellybean@jenniferhuslage3390 Wow that’s awful guys. But it’s good that you didn’t know them and they didn’t know you. It’s strange how rude people can be to strangers. Pushing them out of the way in a store, giving other strangers a dirty look, being so rude to employees, etc.

Ughh I kinda hate all these resellers making prices skyrocket because they buy more and sell it which leaves the prices going higher because it’s more in demand and then the actual poor people can’t afford it. It’s been such higher prices since Covid… I can’t wait til the resellers pick another hobbie

I was wondering when I'd get a comment like this! I think there is nuance to the pros and cons of reselling, but blaming resellers for increased pricing in thrift stores is misguided. The biggest reason for thrift store prices increasing is simply corporate greed. CEOs of major thrift stores have realized with inflation affecting pricing in all stores, they can increase the prices of items. A huge problem I've seen at my local Goodwill is that they would rather sell one item for $15 than 14 for a $1. Rather than focusing on volume selling a lower cost, they have completely changed their strategy in recent years to try and squeeze out what profit they can while disregarding how much ends up in dumpsters and landfills.
If they get an item for free and it doesn't sell, that matters less to them than the potential of making $10+, especially when Goodwill's workers are subjected to increasing, unachievable sales quotas that ultimately benefit the CEO (while the starting pay at my local Goodwills currently are $10.25 an hour). Now, this may be different in your area depending where you are, but the prices as my local mom and pop thrift stores or even flea markets and garage sales have remained consistent, and I strongly believe this is reflective of not having a CEO that is looking to profit hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly.
I REALLY hate the generalization that somehow resellers are these evil entity that ruin thrift stores for everyone when there is an INFINATE number of items being donated at thousands of thrift stores hourly. There is also a misconception that there is a limited number of "good clothes", when what is cute, aesthetic, or even a good brand is completely up to the individual. We spend hours photographing, researching, repairing, washing, and creating listings on multiple platforms, which adds value back into these clothes while allowing our customers to find items they love at a cost far lower than retail. This is not a hobby for many people, but a steady source of income for people who may otherwise struggle to find employment and earn an income due to various personal circumstances or even disabilities, who are caring for their children, and even for the people who you consider "poor".
I recognize this response is lengthy, but I wanted to cover my bases in case I have similar comments in the future. I have spend countless hours while earning my degree researching the environmental impact of the fashion industry and how important it is to keep clothing in circulation, and reselling plays a huge role in keeping things in a circular economy. Again, I believe there is nuance to reselling, but I think having outright hatred for resellers is extremely misinformed and neglects the perspective that resellers are people just like you who have feelings, work hard to support their families, and care deeply for the societal and environmental issues, especially those created through fast fashion and the overconsumption it promotes.
I hope this helps you and others in considering a differing perspective! 💖💖💖 I hope this in no way comes as an attack, as although you hate me, I do not hate you! I just want to share my perspective and defend other resellers who are discouraged due to this hatred online.
