This is one of Hindermith’s most popular work both in recording and in concert hall 👍👏❤️
Thank you for making this available and in such fine quality. I miss Bernstein.
I think everybody does.
I love this piece! Thanks for making it available here.
Nice upload. I love this piece and I love Bernstein.
Fun fact: the Israel Philharmonic had never played this music before when Bernstein wanted to record it with them. it was Michael Tilson Thomas who was given the laborious task of making the Israelis familiar with this piece and whipping them into shape for Lenny. source: Humphrey Burton, LEONARD BERNSTEIN, Doubleday, 1994
My University wind ensemble did a version of this. Wish we could have done it when I was with the Orchestra.
Love the last movement!
Especially the last 30 seconds or so...!
Just saw this orchestra tonight and I’m not surprised by this fantastic playing!
Great piece. Should be programmed more often.
Pure joy.

Lenny!!!! ❤
This is Hindemith's most popular works. While I'm sure he loved this work too, he became depressed during his later years as it appeared that this the only work of his being performed regularly.
Sanjosemike
San Jose Mike Interesting fact. thanks.
I thought that the symphony "Mathis der Mahler" was regularly played.
Yes it is--and perhaps even more performed than the Metamorphosis. Sadly, Hindemith in general is performed less and less.
His 'Mathis der Maler' opera doesn't get any attention anymore as it seems..
Then, as I'm sure now, many believed the only work George Enescu composed was "his Romanian Rhapsody"...then were surprised to learn he wrote two Romanian Rhapsodies...THEN learned they were among the earliest of many more compositions, including symphonies, orchestral and piano suites, and chamber music...it only takes exposure.
Played the march in high school mid-70s, 3rd trombone, learned the value of my trigger to F. And how to make it 'BARK'. WANT TO PLAY AGAIN!
THANK YOU JOE FRANTIC!
Lenny!
HISTRIONIC BERNSTEIN
Musicians often have an irreverent sense of humor. The unofficial lyrics for the very last phrase of this piece are "god...damn...sonofabitch."
Unofficial ?
Unofficial tittle : "Sonofabic Metamorphosis..." ?
ahum
Some of us dont miss Bernstein at all
Berntein como casi siempre, bien , pero la orquesta con falta de brillo en los metales, habrá que oir a Ormandy y la Filadelfia
The adds totally kill the mood. Thumbs down, man.
