I was fortunate to be in the audience for this show with a dear friend of mine. What an amazing experience and one that I will always treasure. Thank you Garrison for bringing so much joy and laughter into our lives. For 2 hours every week you gave us the honor of being a part of your journey and gave us the freedom to leave our troubles behind, if only for a short period of time. God bless you. I'll be seeing you soon in Lake Wobegone.
Thank you for posting this! I loved listening to this show Saturday nights in my youth. As a kid in the real "Lake Wobegon," it gave me a connection to something more sophisticated than my surroundings while also not being completely divorced from it. Something simultaneously wholesome and entertaining like this just doesn't exist anymore. I cry for the good old times!
This is PHC in its prime. A young Peter Ostruchko, Butch Thompson, Chet Atkins, Johnny Gimble, Jean Redpath. I was fortunate to have appeared on this show in its first or second year, as a backup singer and guitarist to a great songwriter who had submitted a tape. One of the great memories of my life. Attended the 40th Anniversary a few years ago, which was also astounding.
APHC always chills me out and refocuses me on what's important. My Dad listened to it for years when I was growing up and now I just can't get enough of it, especially now.
