To all the people complaining about him limiter bashing, Its wet, If he shifts early means the car wont be in the powerband in the next gear and bog. NA cars are generally higher comp so if it bogs it doesnt take much to bring it back to where the power is. In a turbo car if you're in the wrong gear at the wrong time you legit have no power and have to wait for the turbo to pull you back into the powerband
I've had the FK2 black edition civic type R as a rental in Japan and I agree it still really has vibes of an oldskool Honda (had driven the DC5 ITR before). Best gearboxes out there and pulls all the way through even when turbocharged. This civic has to be absolutely mental with 400+ bhp. Nice channel mate, subbed.

420 bhp is crazy😍, someone had theirs about 450bhp, if you built the motor u could have 600hp and the factory turbos have no lag. this thing could get low 10s or high 10s if it wanted to

When the Type R hooks in 1st gear the party is on, I also like to rev 2nd gear to the max and bounce off limiter. Im only stock as well but have an exhaust so I can pretend im fast and have my fun.

A friend of mine has an FC1 (Si Sedan) that he tuned and put a full exhaust on and it’s fuckin sweet it makes about as much power as the stock type R (260whp) and I cannot get over how cool these 10th gen civics are. The engines are sweet and they just bang off the limiter so quickly and also they sound great
@@CJK20 I actually prefer the look of the 3 pipe. I have a raleye red xgen sports touring hatch with 130 mph, and only 2 pipe exit/look. Wouldn't mind the 3 pipe on there.

I've had mine for almost 2 years now. Thinking of Getting the big Dream cat and an eventuri and getting it mapped at TDI north but the warranty issue is stopping me. I really feel like it could handle the extra power. The chassis balance of these cars Is amazing. My last FWD car was a megane 265 trophy and the Type R will pivot around much more readily. You can really stand it on its nose braking deep into corners and theres no understeer. The back end will come around but the transition is so smooth that you can just catch it with the throttle and pull yourself out. this is where i think that extra power will just make it a monster.
Man the exhaust looks great. Love the paint color I want to paint my integra that color. I wish I could boost my integra and have it spool at 3k and make 420 hp.
@@CJK20 I grew up in an area with at least 55 percent Spanish people in middle school most of my friends were Spanish and Honda's were huge it was like the top status symbol lmfaaaooo 😂 🤣 my friends stepdad hooked up a Honda Accord with tvs in the head rest and it was like the biggest thing (it was like year 2000) as I got older I realized that Honda's were generally a cheaper style of car but in my mind I still put certain Honda's on an elevated level like the type r so you basically have like a Porsche 911 in my mind hahahaha

@@CJK20 mate works at honda F1 so he sometimes gets information. Next design is visual pack. After that the car will change shape and chassis and take on the H system in 21/22 if all testing goes to plan. I asked about gearbox options he doesn't have information on that but he said it's possible they could take technology from F1 for next type R gearbox. It's all driven because sales are down massively on the type R it's not selling in the US or U.K markets which is why you don't really see them on the roads that much
I tried doing much research as I could. So I followed timings taken from Nurburgring Wikipedia. That’s such a fast time isn’t it. Close to that 6 minute barrier incredible
@@CJK20 a 7:43 ring lap time is about the same as 80s supercars such as an F40 XJ220, porsche 959. We have come a long way for litrally a fwd hot hatch to match that time.

It’s not a big deal but the only thing about these new Type R’s I don’t like is that Honda made the motor/valve cover look really ugly. all the black plastic makes it look like I’m looking at a cheap Ford Fiesta engine bay. A nice wrinkle red coated K or B series cover was always pleasant to see.
CJK20 definitely! I for sure want one but they could have done something with the Earth dreams badge placed on a nice valve cover. I guess In the grand scheme it doesn’t matter but I definitely prefer looking at the KSeries in the engine bay of my DC5.
not the "one of the only modified examples in UK".... bet a lot of us has done it, but not Stage 2 because it becomes un-drivable (same as modded as FK2). rumble in the car at 70mph is crazy and went on mine back to stock exhaust and down to 390.
@@CJK20 Well my opinion is that if you have it as a "daily commuter" then crackle's and pops and noise is important. I am a H fan and this is my 6th R and nice about it is that minor mods makes it even more all-round car and with semi-slicks and 18" only for track days helps, but think 20" as daily are nicer because they were put on by default to cope with torque steering that you can see when you have 18's on.
Yeah I’ve heard about that. Razi does use this daily but also on track and has no complaints handling size of torque steer. Had it been dryer perhaps I would have felt it but was so wet just spun spun
CJK20 it truly is i own a civic hatch sport but that’s Because i’m currently a college student and i don’t need those huge monthly payments and insurance costs right now 😂 but yes it is a lot of car, i personally love the cargo space mt hatch has, would of opted for the si but i would hate to lose all the cargo and free space the hatch has with the seats folded down.
i bloody love the dash on these hondas makes my 16 wrx look ancient.The gearbox looks like really short shifts too.Just a tip be good to see a pov of the dash etc maybe hold a camera too

Spoon and Mugen are jokes PRL bolt-ons and JSR fuel system will get you to 600bhp easily - spoon doesnt offer much power wise and Mugen is mostly just visual parts. Mishimoto or Ultimate Racing intercooler - both are 800hp rated. You can spring for the Full Race G series kit and make 600hp pretty easily on that as well g25-660 can get you there with fuel system stock turbo taps out at 500bhp

Would they release a Ready2Race or Ready2Drive 500hp+@twheels fk8 type R model bulletproof? Thats what hoani is asking a tuning company to build a super hatch that could beat most sports cars . and that's 2 years ago so make it 800-1000whp+ All day.

@@CJK20 no I'm UK, nothing against you or the car but I've seen some high numbers flying around on FK8's from reputable tuners that got shown up on other dynos, stage 1 makes about 350-60 bhp, exhaust and intercooler don't make it 420 all of a sudden, good video either way just suspect figures imo. From what I gather the stock turbo won't flow enough for 420.
@@certified6342 I made 363 whp and 398 torque fbo on 91. With ethanol I could easily get it over 400. With an upgraded fuel system, Ethanol and bolt ons, you could get to numbers as high as 450 bhp
@@certified6342 Stock turbo has enough to flow 450whp on e50 blend in the US I made 408whp dynojet aka 465hp on PRL HVI - PRL inlet - JSR downpipe - PRL front pipe - e30 FK8 Tuning and Development custom tune - mishimoto FMIC and charge pipes went JSR fuel system - JSR ported intake manifold and prl p600 and made 526whp dynojet aka 600hp stock engine - stock clutch - stock exhaust Nobody expects it to move like it does Maxxed the MAF sensor on a rampage 3.5" housing - retuning on 4" housing should see 580whp or so hopefully on a little more boost - currently 31lbs maxxed out the sensor in the larger housing - stock MAF housing gets dicey at this power level so 3.5" is a must - 4" is better and gives you more room to grow into. Had I knowm I would have bought the 4" vs rampage 3.5" ....live and learn.
I own a 09 335i manual Tuned making anywhere around 440hp with minimum mods i love the Type are but the dealers are crazy if they think I’m going to make extra 10-15k markup 😒
Guy needs to learn how to drive. He bangs it off the Rev limiter and then reaches for the shifter, like three seconds later. Like, his brain is in slow motion mode.
He can drive just fine, lot of it was for the video :) need to let engine speed catch wheel speed. Shift to soon you just bog down in the revs. It’s a Honda thing
265 wide cant remember the rest I did say in video. As the weather was a little greasy we couldn’t really push the corners to much but handling was excellent!
Even if Hondas are rock solid, a Turbo already stresses an engine more... and pushing the turbo beyond factory settings, then how long can it last ? I love having fun with engines, but... I feel sad about ruining it quicker. Good luck to you though :)
The cars are so new I don’t think anyone really knows reliably how much these can take for prolonged periods. This might be fine and capable it’s whole life it may blow in few thousand miles but this is what you accept with tuning a car Lilian :)
@Ivietu Jay slapping on a new turbo, eh ? that easy... ok. I only buy Hondas as a rule of thumb because they are very reliable and easy to tune. I've tuned my share of them and am pretty knowledgeable. However, turbos do stress engines a lot more than an NA tune generally would. I agree that that's today's game and the trend is sadly here to stay. So, turbos it is. However, reinforcing the internals would definitely be first on my to-do list ;)
What's the traction like on FWD? I manage a 4.7s to 60 on 320bhp 530d G31 BMW but love Honda. My FN2 could drive flat out in all conditions and you force yourself to not lift off. Awesome machines.
I don't have a tune yet but my FK8 has amazing traction in all conditions except snow of course lol. I am on RE71Rs and even on a cold day it has great grip. I love how easy the Type R is to drive.

Truett Whitehead are you UK based mate. Paul West was the tuner who mapped this car. The Tunerview is software that can be applied to update the display with various dials etc. I’m sure it must be able to be purchased from the states.
i wonder if you can do a k24w block with a k20c head since there both earth dreams. some of you might think this is stupid idea but what if it gained more torque down low like the older k24 k20 swap or i wonder what a turboed k24w earth dreams motor would put out. i like to think outside the box i bet not many people thought of that. considering a k24w has a even power ban all the way through and revs to 7 and a half just like the type r k20c and comes with 185 hp with 181 tq pretty good for a na engine 4 banger has more torque then the gsrs and older type rs and even the older k20 and k24s

It’s not a big deal but the only thing about these new Type R’s I don’t like is that Honda made the motor/valve cover look really ugly. all the black plastic makes it look like I’m looking at a cheap Ford Fiesta engine bay. A nice wrinkle red coated K or B series cover was always pleasant to see.
Yeah I totally agree! It doesn’t look special does it. This is first time I’ve seen the engine without a cover on and didn’t look like much for sure!
CJK20 definitely! I for sure want one but they could have done something with the Earth dreams badge placed on a nice valve cover. I guess In the grand scheme it doesn’t matter but I definitely prefer looking at the KSeries in the engine bay of my DC5.
not the "one of the only modified examples in UK".... bet a lot of us has done it, but not Stage 2 because it becomes un-drivable (same as modded as FK2). rumble in the car at 70mph is crazy and went on mine back to stock exhaust and down to 390.

@@CJK20 Well my opinion is that if you have it as a "daily commuter" then crackle's and pops and noise is important. I am a H fan and this is my 6th R and nice about it is that minor mods makes it even more all-round car and with semi-slicks and 18" only for track days helps, but think 20" as daily are nicer because they were put on by default to cope with torque steering that you can see when you have 18's on.
Yeah I’ve heard about that. Razi does use this daily but also on track and has no complaints handling size of torque steer. Had it been dryer perhaps I would have felt it but was so wet just spun spun

CJK20 it truly is i own a civic hatch sport but that’s Because i’m currently a college student and i don’t need those huge monthly payments and insurance costs right now 😂 but yes it is a lot of car, i personally love the cargo space mt hatch has, would of opted for the si but i would hate to lose all the cargo and free space the hatch has with the seats folded down.

i bloody love the dash on these hondas makes my 16 wrx look ancient.The gearbox looks like really short shifts too.Just a tip be good to see a pov of the dash etc maybe hold a camera too

Spoon and Mugen are jokes
PRL bolt-ons and JSR fuel system will get you to 600bhp easily - spoon doesnt offer much power wise and Mugen is mostly just visual parts. Mishimoto or Ultimate Racing intercooler - both are 800hp rated.
You can spring for the Full Race G series kit and make 600hp pretty easily on that as well g25-660 can get you there with fuel system
stock turbo taps out at 500bhp

@@CJK20 no I'm UK, nothing against you or the car but I've seen some high numbers flying around on FK8's from reputable tuners that got shown up on other dynos, stage 1 makes about 350-60 bhp, exhaust and intercooler don't make it 420 all of a sudden, good video either way just suspect figures imo.
From what I gather the stock turbo won't flow enough for 420.
@@certified6342 I made 363 whp and 398 torque fbo on 91. With ethanol I could easily get it over 400.
With an upgraded fuel system, Ethanol and bolt ons, you could get to numbers as high as 450 bhp

I made 408whp dynojet aka 465hp on PRL HVI - PRL inlet - JSR downpipe - PRL front pipe - e30 FK8 Tuning and Development custom tune - mishimoto FMIC and charge pipes
went JSR fuel system - JSR ported intake manifold and prl p600 and made 526whp dynojet aka 600hp
stock engine - stock clutch - stock exhaust
Nobody expects it to move like it does
Maxxed the MAF sensor on a rampage 3.5" housing - retuning on 4" housing should see 580whp or so hopefully on a little more boost - currently 31lbs maxxed out the sensor in the larger housing - stock MAF housing gets dicey at this power level so 3.5" is a must - 4" is better and gives you more room to grow into. Had I knowm I would have bought the 4" vs rampage 3.5" ....live and learn.
May just have changed my opinion on these 🤔 this one looks great! A performer too.

it doesn't take long to hit it if you aren't getting traction. Shit I can't even take my hand of the knob until fourth. The first 3 go quick.
He can drive just fine, lot of it was for the video :) need to let engine speed catch wheel speed. Shift to soon you just bog down in the revs. It’s a Honda thing

The cars are so new I don’t think anyone really knows reliably how much these can take for prolonged periods.
This might be fine and capable it’s whole life it may blow in few thousand miles but this is what you accept with tuning a car Lilian :)

I only buy Hondas as a rule of thumb because they are very reliable and easy to tune. I've tuned my share of them and am pretty knowledgeable. However, turbos do stress engines a lot more than an NA tune generally would.
I agree that that's today's game and the trend is sadly here to stay. So, turbos it is. However, reinforcing the internals would definitely be first on my to-do list ;)

What's the traction like on FWD? I manage a 4.7s to 60 on 320bhp 530d G31 BMW but love Honda. My FN2 could drive flat out in all conditions and you force yourself to not lift off. Awesome machines.
I don't have a tune yet but my FK8 has amazing traction in all conditions except snow of course lol. I am on RE71Rs and even on a cold day it has great grip. I love how easy the Type R is to drive.

Paul West was the tuner who mapped this car. The Tunerview is software that can be applied to update the display with various dials etc.

i wonder if you can do a k24w block with a k20c head since there both earth dreams. some of you might think this is stupid idea but what if it gained more torque down low like the older k24 k20 swap or i wonder what a turboed k24w earth dreams motor would put out. i like to think outside the box i bet not many people thought of that. considering a k24w has a even power ban all the way through and revs to 7 and a half just like the type r k20c and comes with 185 hp with 181 tq pretty good for a na engine 4 banger has more torque then the gsrs and older type rs and even the older k20 and k24s
