- There are various reasons why I prefer stand on mowers over sit down riding zero turns. The main reasons can be found in this video. #lawncare #landscaping #stripelife

Rebuttal:
-A sit down mower gives the legs a break since you are walking with a trimmer and blower quite a bit.
-A sit down mower allows you to feather the deck a lot easier when going over bumps and such so you don’t scalp
-A sit down mower can handle hills far better
-A sit down mower actually tears up the turf LESS when doing maneuvers because the engine weight is over the wheels. On a stander the drive wheels don’t have much weight over them so they spin out far easier and tear up the grass.
-although it’s less convenient on a sit-down, you can still blow down pavement from the mower. Either use a handheld blower with one hand, or use a backpack. You wear but let it rest on top of the seat.
I’ve used both and kind of hate the standers. However I don’t begrudge people their opinions and glad you’re liking them!
id say sit down way better
It won’t go the places my walk behind will….
what about a 34in surfer pro🤔
Everyone who can finally afford a stand on think it’s superior..sure they are great but nothing will ever be as versatile as a walk behind
@@robertpoindexter8616 eh idk , we’ve used just about everything and i still use 36” walk behinds every day of the week. Just prefer to be standing on , rather than walking if i’m doing 25+ houses man.
@@1duv then get a velke…
That's true but your walk behind won't mow as fast as a stand on
I use a gravely 44” zero turn rider, I can’t “stand” the stand-on mowers but to each their own.
Thanks for sharing this, great info
Right on
Everybody and their brother has a gravely, this thing looks kinda cool
I got a stand on because I messed my back up and its been a life saver. Its so much more comfortable to mow with.
Couldn’t agree more
I know this is not true for everyone. I have severe lower back pain. I have wondered for awhile now whether or not a stand on mower would be better or worse for me. I know for some people with certain back problems a traditional riding zero turn is better. So have you noticed less mornings of not wanting to get out of bed? That is my biggest problem. Both hard to go to sleep and hard to get up after sleeping.
Correct on everything. Still I only use sit down bc when you get older it’s absolutely easier to sit than to stand all day long.
Love the content. Watching from Albuquerque New Mexico
New subscriber. I subscribed for the stripes. Lol Started watching your other videos and as a “lawn dude” myself there are something’s I totally disagree with you on but this one, I can’t argue with. Standers all day everyday.
I use a ferris z2 stander daily and I 100% agree with every point you made
Facts i had a Wright Stander and it was the 1st of its kind and it was a great lawnmower
Good stuff, you are right!
I use to cut commercially with a sit down. Hearing you on this comparison I have to agree. Just wish I I thought about it then.
I totally Agree- Stand On mower is the way to go for all the reasons you mentioned and then some ..!! But like the guy said below .. to each their own .. he prefers sit down .. and who am I to tell anyone what’s better for them,, but I’m certainly in agreement that for me Stand On is by far the way to go ..!! Any amount of time on a Stand-On and I believe most would agree again for all the reasons you mentioned..!! Again my opinion- they’re so much more fun too drive .. every time I get on the thing it’s a blast .. Exmark Vantage 52” mulching mower and JD 652R MOD .. 2 great Stand-On Mowers ..!! Great video .. thanks ..!! 💥
I use a wright 60” stander love it I like all 3 styles they all have their own place but i still prefer a stand on I agree with everything you said in the video.
I'm a bit "older", and I prefer a rider. With a suspension seat. That seat is a game changer. I admit that the stand ons would be better when you have to get off and on a bunch, but for me, riding wins.
I love stand on mowers I've gone on some steep hills side ways with them and u can dip down low n get under some trees that branches hang as low as the mower controls worked for 4 company's now n told last 3 get stand on mowers they hug hills
I have a Wright Stander B 52'' and a Exmark Lazer Z 60'' (sitter). Overall, like my stander. The footprint of it is way smaller, nimble and light. Standing takes way less of a beating on your back.(unless your running a Ferris sitter with 300 lbs of coil over shocks) Sitters have some big plusses including deck feathering, able to hug hills and overall more stable maneuverability. Getting at your hydros, fluids and maintenance items are generally much easier on standers which holds a lot of value to me. They both have different/unique applications. End of the day, run what makes you happiest!
I love stand on mowers they are so much more better than a sit down we run scag vrides so that’s my preference of stand ons
Those are solid mowers forsure
My lawn is on the fringe of being too large for me to mow without a break, it’s roughly 1/3 of an acre Ranch/Rambler style city lot built in the 1950s and I can hit it with my walk behind Toro in about an hour and a half, 2 hours if I take a brief rest before hitting the backyard. (Backyard is Buffalo, front is Bermuda, so I never do both on the same day unless my schedule rotation overlaps)
I’m confident that a standing mower would make that like an hour shorter, but at my age (29) I tend to enjoy the work/energy it takes to do that every few days during warm season. It might be a different story in a decade or two though, so I’m just enjoying it while I can.
All valid points, even why you might want a sit down. I'd summarize it this way: if your body can handle a stander, then it is the better platform.
You couldn’t of said it better. Our lawn part of our business is small (2 days a week) any who last yr. Converted to only sit down. Huge mistake for my personally. Easy on, easy off, is completely underrated.
The only point I agree will is using it to blow off when you’re done, zero turn is much better
Can you send the link to your striping kit. Your yards always look so good!
Stand on hands down the best option for great look and safety
I hate telling ppl I have one leg and I cut grass for extra money so I really do need the zero turn I see the stand on mowers a lot but I really can’t use that kind
I have both stand on and sit on john deere mowers. I prefer the sit on with suspension seat. I don't care nothing about riding a stand on all day it wears my legs out for some reason plus their hot on your legs. They do come in handy when it comes to blowing off.
awesome video
Thanks!
All you can do with your feet on a stand mower is stand with them. While sitting on my Dixon one foot can raise the deck for obsticals and my other foot can raise the chute because I made a mechanism to do so. There is a longer list of good things about sitters than standers.
I’ve got a 54” Raptor SD sit-on-my-ass mower because it takes me a long time to mow 5 acres…plus I’m old. 👍🏼
Im 55 and feel stand on is the only way to go. I mow 1 to 6 acre properties with no issues.
Line of sight is critical when mowing grass, for me anyway. At 5’6” ,I need all the height I can get.
Ill never own a stand because of my back problems. Its much more comfortable for me to sit down, plus i stand up 10 hours a day at work. Last thing i wanna do is stand up and cut grass for another hour after i get off. You made very valid points to owning a stand on though. We're all here to mow, so keep on mowin'
Working on a stand on is a nightmare. Everything is so tight to work on.
You're going to need the sit-down mower after years of your knees and spine shock absorbing
For a sitdown mower. The most comfort comes on a ferris. The suspension is amazing. Nothing else in its class. Full suspension. Not just a floating seat.
What mower is that you use for the stripes and does it have a stripping kit on it
I'm going on 62 in two months to the day and I'm pretty sure I'll go for a stand on.
Where do I get those glasses
I don’t have 5 mowers so the length doesn’t matter, get a 72” deck and hills don’t matter because you can’t tip anyway, I don’t get off to pick up trash I mulch it up, don’t leave junk in your yard if you don’t want a mess lol, learn to turn and won’t tear up turf 😂
I much prefer stand on’s. It’s MUCH easier to focus. And it’s MUCH easier to control and it’s important if you are on a mower that propels itself, that you have something that is easy to control so that way you don’t tear someone’s lawn up.
What kind of grass is that do you know? Is that what makes it stripe so good?
You can also pop some sweet wheelies going up inclined driveways haha
Why did you choose Hustler stand ons? Im looking at purchasing a stand on. JD, Wright or Hustler. 36-48" Any feedback on why you like the Hustler would be great. Thanks
I don't have to get off my Dixon to pick up trash. That is what a cheap folding hand extension tool is for. I can have a square pail between my legs and a branch trimmer with too, all easily accessible. If you sit, there are fewer branches to duck for and trim. I have 74 years on my feet. A little plantar fasciitis goes a long way towards wanting a suspension seat and not stand some more. I dont stand on my golf carts, cars, motorcycles, nor do I stand watching t.v. or car races or movies or auctions. There are a few good reasons for standing but not enough of them.
What the best way to acquire a stand on mower if just starting out
What’s the width of those? Be curious to see if it would fit through my back gate
Totally agree
Well to each his own right.
100% these mowers are professional, the kind you use to mow baseball fields. I wish I had one, shoot it’d make mowing a regulars yard an absolute breeze. I bet I could cut the overall time down by a lot too because of how they maneuver
I want to get a Deere QuikTrak Pro 52 stand on with rear discharge. Also what are your sunglasses, those are sweet, could you provide me with some info?? Thank you
These are @oakley clifden
My toro time master walk behind will look just the same and I’ll be in better health walking .
How do you like the surfer pro
Wirght Stander for the win!
That's all I got stand on mowers they just better than a seat down mowers for many many reasons..
Is there a bag catcher for a stand on mower? I’m interested in getting one but I’d like to be able to bag the clippings, west Texas is horrible on stickers and don’t want to spread more goat head around or other seeds that isn’t grass.
Yes they do about $500-$900 range
Yes my wright uses a cage like most mowers
makes sense.
In my opinion. Stand on’s hurt because I’m 6’6. It feels like I’m working out my abs. Like I’m doing crunches using my lags to balance instead of my whole pelvis
Can you run tweels on the 52 Super S?
100% accurate
🙌🏽
Are Stan’s ons okay for hilly areas?
Standing desk vs sitting desk
What kind of glasses are those
The toro my ride system has entered the chat😂
I'm not sure there is less weight on back tires...
no collection system?
You look like the evil sheriff from O Brother Where Art Thou
Cost 2-3X more too!😂
Yeah, man whatever floats your boat.
If you are older 40 years+ get a zero turn!😊 You getting up their in age!😊
Sit down is 1000 percent better if u catch holds 5 times the amount
Why would i mow standing up when i sit down . .
@AdamBarber-fd8qp i feel the exact opposite. But ive got bad knees .
@@AdamBarber- I agree with you, I use a 44” gravely and I feel like I’m 75 when I get off of it. It’s weird now that you mention it
@@AdamBarber-how? I mow at least 6 hours a day and I’ve had experience with both stand on and zero turn mowers, I do admit stand on mowers have there place for a few yards but generally speaking zero turn is far better. I do like useing a blower on a stand on that’s pretty much the only point I agree with in the video
@@AdamBarber- most thorough explanation I’ve ever read, thanks for sharing
@AdamBarber-fd8qp thank you for your response. And you also have a great day.
Stand on,sit down, push mower, self propelled, they all suck.I hate cutting grass.
Stand on destroys your knees and ride ons destroy your back. Simple as that. Pick your poison.
Your knees are meant to bend like that, our backs didn't evolve to absorb load while in a seated position.
Destroys your knees hip hands look at Spencer lawn Care now having hand issues.. most of the people that say thier back hurt with a sit down has never had a sit down with a good suspension seat!
No thanks
What a bunch of weak points dude
