A single game of Backyard Baseball 2001. I went for the home team this time, so that meant no bottom of the sixth, thus making this a little shorter than my gameplay for the original game.
I used to like the original Backyard Baseball more, but now that I play this again, I take that back. I still dislike the pros, but this game improved in way more areas besides just acquiring the MLB license (whether that's an improvement or not is up to you). First off, Season Play is WAY more tolerable in this game than it is in the original. Season Play in the original had you playing on the exact same field for the entire 14-game season, with the same generic kids on every team. Here, you now have home fields for every team, and there are Backyard Kids for some of the positions. It's a lot nicer that way and makes it less repetitive. Another minor thing they improved on was fouling - in the original, as long as a foul didn't go behind the player, we had to waste time going to the field view and wait for it to bounce, even if it was obvious no one was catching it. Here, it almost never goes into the field view for fouls, and that's a lot nicer. We can also choose a custom player in this game, and teams are now two-color instead of one. Overall, this game is a lot more enjoyable than the original, and it ended up being a lot better than I remembered. I was pleasantly surprised when I played this game again after so many years, and if you ever see a comment of mine that says the original was better, know that I now take that back. - Hry

This makes me such a happy sad. My parents gave me such a good life growing up. I can vividly picture playing this on a sunny summer day and running to give my dad a hug when he came home from work. I was 5 or 6 years old at the time. Miss it dearly.
This is literally my most favorite game of all time. The trash talk going on in the background is one of the best parts in my opinion

I always loved Sunny and Vinnie. My parents would always walk in on me playing and they would just sit and listen to them argue and ramble and they would laugh so hard.
me and my siblings were playing it one time. Vinny said that one of the kids doesn't like Brussel sprouts . I think it was angela but I'm not sure. then sunny said really my parents told all kids like Brussel sprouts. we laughed so hard at that XD

Heh, I was actually introduced to this series by two friends of mine. The first thing I heard when they were picking was "GET PABLO!" So, when I got around to playing the game myself, I was playing the original so the only way I could tell was by looking through all the cards trying to find him. But then I saw him for real, and his stats made me go O_O

I wore this game out back in the day. The disk lost its color because I played it so much... Still have it at home and still play it from time to time... I remember when I got this game for Christmas with nascar 2000 for pc. Those are my two favorite games ever.

Right, the answer to the question. They got rid of Amir (yet they left Achmed in), Billy Jean, Gretchen, Jocinda, Kenny, Kimmy, Luanne, Mikey, Ronny, Sally, and Stephanie.

I think I got this game in a cereal box! Good times. The hours I spent on this. Also fun fact, but if you hit I think its shift on the keyboard and select Pablo. Instead of Spanish, He'll speak English, and asks the player not to tell anyone that he can speak it. Really neat little secrets in this game.

Sally Dobbs doesn’t have great stats, but no one can pull off a surprise homer when it counts like her.

Yeah, since basically any throw soared over Pablo, he had to play in the outfield. Despite his massive fielding stat he never impressed as much as others such as Griffey.
0:31 Unfortunately, 2001 was a year in which 2 teams (Twins & Expos) were scheduled to be contracted... This was before the Expos moved to Washington as the Nationals, and now the Oakland A's are moving to Las Vegas... And PS, I still have my copy of this game to this day. Good times.

Nice Idea. I recently got a Wii for Christmas and have got Backyard Baseball '10. I was so happy and i'm 18 years old. Guess I'm not so old for it! Haha. Not the same but I love it!

I still have the baseball bat I got with the game. I lost the disc (more like it was stolen by my babysitter when I was 6) so I did download it, and it runs like a charm. I love this game.

Another thing I like about this one over the original is that you can pick between all characters in Pick-Up Game as oppose to being limited to having a certain amount.

No, no, I think you're onto something. They say that Willie Mays used to hit ninth just so that in case the previous 8 guys got on base, he could hit an 8-run homer. Plus, putting your best hitters at the bottom of the order ensures that they'll get up less times than the inferior hitters at the top, which is genius. Are you sure you aren't Tony La Russa in disguise? Because you're clearly MLB manager material.

I love me some old-school Backyard Baseball 2001. Not much is the same between you and I in terms of playstyle, but I tended to go for more of a mix between the pros and the kids. Some of the kids were GARBAGE though, so props for taking lemons and using them to make lemonade out of the whole deal.

I've never quite understood why Amir's pitching stat seems to nosedive when he's on his brother's team. I mean, you probably can't tell from this single game, but during Season mode, Amir's decrease in pitching is permanent. I initially thought it was him just having a bad day, but his batting gets a significant increase, as per the bonus he gets from the Khans aligning. I have to wonder if this is a bug or something that Humongous programmed in but made no reference to. It probably won't bother one much if they already have a good rotation of pitchers, but I do like having at least one relief pitcher on my team, and Amir is usually perfect for the role.
Actually, I wondered that myself for a while, but I eventually figured it out -- look at Amir's "new" stats and then look at Achmed's. They match! Achmed's pitching stats are significantly lower than Amir's, but apparently Amir wasn't kidding when he said he wanted to be like his brother. Personally I think it's really stupid; I think it would make more sense if they both increased a little, just like with the Webbers. The again, the Webbers have mediocre stats when alone and only start to be useful when they're together, where as either Kahn stands alone pretty well.
HumongousSoundtracks I stick to the pros that played for the actual teams. So pretty much 1 pro per professional team.
