Will Travel For Food: Aneesha Baig visits Zains hotel in Kozhikode to relish some mouth watering Mappila delicacies. She then heads to Bombay Hotel to gorge on some banana-licious tea time treats and ends her day at the Paragon restaurant with a table full of aromatic seafood dishes.

haha i understand why some of my fellow malayali Kozhikottukar is angry..
but guys she is just expressing how she feel about the food, and just because she doesnt like something doesnt mean everyone doesnot..
and i am a foodie and Aneesha you have missed alot of great places in kozhikode which have awesome food.
and biriyani is not an evening snack you got that cause you went into a restaurant ..
and personally even if i am a girl from kozhikode, i myself am not a big fan of chattipathiri or any banana snacks.. i would prefer having crispy uzhunu vada, bonda or ulli vada from traditional restaurants,
A food tip for you, to get the best snacks always go for the roadside stalls (which we call thattu kada) they have the best crispy stuff,and the evening snacks you eat as a local kozhikode may or may not be same in home.. personally i love the boiled bengal gram with masala which i have as evening snack at home, i havent had it from any restaurants, i dont know if it is a traditional snack or not but i love it :) and during special occasions like onam vishu when all family members get together there are hell lot of variety of food you will see. and the food you get from temples as prasadam is delicious too depends upon the person who made it. so one can never generalize the taste of a same dish, it varies from restaurant to restaurant .. even the biriyani you had will taste and look totally different in different places, cause of difference in preparation. and from beach side stalls i absolutely love the egg+pattani kadala dish, but my friends are big fan of other dishes from stall. i have only had lemon sarbath and i like it very much they have sarbath mix+ice+lemon juice, i should definitely try that paal(milk) sarbath you showed in the show. It just means i have to taste alot more food i don't know about in my kozhikode(calicut)... haha :D

Hari, iam a malayalee, and your information is wrong, who told you that gulab jamun is very high in sugar, they can be made in less sugar also, and by the way gulab jamun, kulfis are much more tastier, than our paladda, unniappam etc, in north they make gulabjamun in very less sugar , not like in Kerala where they make horrible gulabjamun and north Indian sweets with less knowledge

I see what you mean although I might have been annoyed by her attitude, back then and commented this. Yep, Gulab Jamuns and Rosgollas are so much subtler than being only sugary, I understand now, having now lived in Mumbai for the last 6 years. However, I would prefer the taste of hot Kottarakkara unniappoms, syrupy paalada pradhaman and chayakkada neyyappams over their Northern cousins anyday. To each his own, I guess.
