Crazy how so many ppl switched up on Jorge so fast. The fans of the fight game has such a bandwagon mindset. Big fans when ppl are winning and soon as they get to losing they start hating.

Jorge has always been an anti-wrestling/grappling snob. As a Jorge fan, I remember being anxious by his preflight interview vs Demian Maia, when he said he didn't train BJJ, because nobody can take him down anyway. Maia took him down at will and toyed with him. Jorge actually improved a lot through training with Bo Nickal for this Colby fight, and I wish he had this mentality earlier in his career. That said, why Jorge tried to take Colby down a couple times, when he should've just got up, is beyond me. You're not getting top control on Colby. He'll just reverse you.

I still like him as a fighter but Jorge was out wrestled and outclassed for 25 minutes, it wasn't even a close fight, he only had one punch that bothered Colby. He can still make a comeback but usman and Colby are ruling this division for now.
Whenever they were at the centre they were even hell I would even say Masvidal was more crisper, it was when they go near the cage that he starts getting hit alot due to Colby's threat of takedown

Jorge lacked the level of aggression that he usually shows, and never let his hands go. He seemed too concerned with the take-down, and never implemented his game plan.
if he was more aggressive he probably wouldve just gotten taken down quicker and easier, colbys just the better athlete, jorge was outclassed and he knows it.
He couldnât implement his game plan BECAUSE of the takedown and the relentless pace. The way Colby was exhausting Jorge was more damaging than any concussive strike
It's extremely difficult to fight guys like Colby and Khabib, they fight at a super high pace, it's difficult to think what to do next because they're throwing 10 different things at you, when you defend move 1, they throw move 2, 3 and they keep throwing shit non stop during the entire fight...
Imo Jorge fought the perfect fight which makes this even worse. There was no possible way to victory for him
It's because you can't go over aggressive against the top tier, counter punching would have left him wide open to Colby. Not just this fight but almost all top tier fighters can't be run over with pure aggression, they need to pick them apart and that just comes down to timing and striking skills. And Colby is better in those areas.
That KO from Usman definitely has him way more cautious on the feet.
This is the most frustrating part of when strikers fight grapplers. You typically see a diminished version of the striker because theyâre trying to be careful to defend the take down while striking. Same phenomenon with anyone who fights khabib or Islam. You never get to see their full on striking as with Masvidal here.

he was too worried about the takedown (justifiably so) and wasnât very offensive - the wrestling advantage is so much more useful than the standup advantage, itâs as simple as that in mma
Not necessarily true. Just that Colby wrestling is at a higher level than Jorges striking and defense is.
There are many Cases were the striker beats the wrestler and vice Versa. Izzy vs Vettori is a prime example. Izzys striking and defense was better than Vettoris wrestling.

Let's not be fair weather fan's guys. This is the most heartbroken I have ever seen Jorge. He is having to come to terms that he's 37 now and it's looking like a title fight isn't going to happen again. I feel bad for him man. You can see the emotion in his face

Jorge needed to evolve as fighter a lonnnnnggg time ago. Everyone knows that his one and only thing is his stand up striking. I honestly donât see him changing as a fighter at this point in his career but I give him tons of respect for not getting KOd or tapped.
He showed some pretty good takedown defense and decent grappling.

I love Jorge and want to see him win in his future fights if he chooses to do so. The one thing I donât want to see is a rematch or trilogy.
Masvidal will just have to live with the fact that Covington's just too much for him to overcome. Interested to see Masvidal versus RDA next, since RDA called him out.
I think RDA mauls him if Iâm being honest, RDA isnât the wrestler Usman and Colby are but his wrestling is legit and his cardio is elite. And RDAs chin is super underrated

Jorge is legitimately done as a contender for any weight class especially at 37 going on 38.Masvidal seems to have a rough weight cut this week.I can tell from the Thursday press conference that he looks that he had a rough weight cut.Thatâs not a good sign against a wrestling guy that has 25 minute gas tank. Heâs at the money fight stage of his career like Nate Diaz.
Colby can make 1 more run for the belt if his durability holds up(receiving 5 knockdowns in his last 4 fights tells me that he needs better boxing defense).He canât afford to get hit like that at 34.
