    Hey Josh, love your videos man! I mentioned on one of your other videos that I had just ordered my first new Gravely ZT XL 52" a few days ago. Your videos were very informative and helpful in my decision to buy one of these mowers. Being as it will be my first zero turn I was lost in the sea of all the different brands available now. After watching your videos and visiting my local dealer I was sold, literally. I live in Tennessee but if I were closer to you I definitely would've bought from you. I appreciate the time you spend promoting a product you are proud to sell. Thanks again and take care!

      Thanks for the shout out, Dale! Glad you're finding my content informative. I'm working on a new batch for Spring.

    It looks cheaper made than the 2022 models in my opinion. I liked the larger floor pan access better also. I'm looking at the ZTHD, Hopefully they haven't changed it to this frame style.

      The HD is King. I think that there are some vast improvements to the ZTXL that bring it closer to the HD than it has ever been.

    Thanks, A poor design to break the cable (6:03). That RH brake cable mount is at a bad angle for the cable to exit. The hanger tab needs to be bent so the cable exits out straight to the hydro arm.

    what should be my deciding factor between the XL and HD? I have 3.5 acres and spend a fair amount of time on the tractor each week, moving rocks, hauling sticks, wood, dirt, landscaping, etc.

    • @carlsmowerandsaw
      @carlsmowerandsaw  Před rokem

      The HD is going to be the ticket with that much acreage, bearing size, belt size, drive components …. Take the step

    How do you keep the deck access panel locked down? Mine continuously pops open from vibration when cutting.

    Considering the ZT 48XL and wondering about performance of the mulching system on these. Have seen some negative comments elsewhere, ~ 1 acre property, not sure a bagging system would even fit into shed. Do you have any recommendations?

    • @carlsmowerandsaw
      @carlsmowerandsaw  Před rokem

      This is a new deck design that has made changes to mulching performance. I have not had a chance to test it in heavy grass yet. I will hopefully get out and test soon.

    It appears the Ariens iKon 42, Gravely ZT 42 and ZT XL are all the same. Which one do I get.

    • @J53119

      From the research I've been doing, the main difference is the transmission. The ZT X has an oil drain port for the transmission making it semi serviceable. The Ikon has the same tranny but a few bucks was saved to get rid of the drain port which is frustrating. (You can see this in the service diagrams) The XL is even more serviceable and heavy duty, step up in model and you can replace the transmission filter.

      @@J53119 Thank you. I think I'll just get the iKon then. It's $400 less at my dealer I believe.

    Hi, Josh, nice review on the new ZTXL. I was all set for buying the ZTHD44, but after watching your review now I am torn on choosing between the HD or the ZTXL42? Is the HD still worth additional $1k over the XL since the extra features added for 2023?

    • @carlsmowerandsaw
      @carlsmowerandsaw  Před rokem +2

      Part of that answer comes down to lawn size and condition. The HD is still a step up for sure but the ZTXL may fit the bill if you’re dealing with less than an acre of smooth lawn. Does this help?

    • @ecrew888
      @ecrew888 Před rokem +2

      Yeah, it helps. Only have about 1/2 acre to cut, just want to buy something that will last for longevity. But sounds like HD is the way to go!

    Looks smaller, but I take it because of it being smaller deck size.

    I got the 2023 Gravely ZT 42 with bagger (not power bagger). It's AWEFUL!! Do NOT get this one! Also, the mower blows grass, leaves, debris all out of ALL sides of the mower including in front which goes RIGHT into your face and eyes! It's absolutely awful. I was advised to slow the mower engine/speed and that will fix it and it did NOTHING! The bagger is the 1st time Gravely did their own and it's AWFUL. The bags are WAY too behind the mower so if you're driving along side of a structure or fence, you can't just turn away from the structure normally b/c the bags are so far behind the mower, turning normally, the bags crash up against the structure. Literally the only good thing about the Gravely ZT 42 is the Kawasaki engine. I'm selling this mower despite having it for ONE season!!!

      I am sorry you are having these problems. The ZT and ZTX/ZTXL have different decks. We do not stock the ZT42. What height are you mowing at?

    • @malcolmh5736
      @malcolmh5736 Před 6 měsíci

      @@carlsmowerandsaw I do different heights, depending on the part of my lawn.. mostly I do about 4" and sometimes 3" or 3.5". The shop I bought it from said confidently that the mower puts the blades at too high and I shouldn't run at full speed so I slowed it down and it changed nothing. I'm going to seel it, and supper bummed that I got this mower.
