You’re going to spend thousands and thousands hours learning over the course of your life. What’s crazy is that despite the fact that we have all those hours sitting in the classroom, learning musical instruments, martial arts, business, language, whatever - no one teaches us how to optimize that learning experience.
But there are principles that you can apply to any area of life you want to improve in. From beating people who have been training waaaaay more than I have in ju jitsu to watching our business grow exponentially in the last 6 months. So think of an area of your life that you want to start crushing the competition in and apply these 5 tips to learn 10x faster
1. Measure the smallest possible victory
2. Drill one thing at a time until it is unthinking habit.
3. Shorter periods of study every day beat cramming
4. When you are starting, try a million different things
5. Debrief your successes and failures

Just thought I'd post this in case anyone wanted a quick rundown of what he said in point form!
Measure a smaller unit of success.
- Smaller milestones/steps. Well help with knowing where things are going wrong
- Instead of me being like “I either get it or I don’t, not knowing where I don’t get it and why.
- With all of these smaller steps, when you deconstruct things, you can chunk all of these little things together and it will make the learning process a lot easier once you reassemble them.
Drill ONE thing until it becomes a habit, then move on.
- Apply that thing until it becomes an unthinking habit.
- Focus on ONE thing, make it habit, and then move on.
Shorter period of study every day are better then long, sporadic cramming sessions.
- For learning, a little bit everyday is better than one long batch.
- Learning comes from repetition.
- If you’re trying to build a skill, you’re trying to rewire your brain.
- Shorter periods in between mean you get to review a lot more consistently.
- Takes a lot more willpower.
- True for learning, but not necessarily for production.
When starting, test many different methods; when growing stick with one.
- You’ll start to plateau.
- At the beginning of the endeavour, mix it up.
- When you find one that works, shut all the rest out. Stick with it while it’s growing like crazy.
Debrief to avoid repeating the same mistakes.
- People have a lot of pride, when they don’t get something they want to act like they know.
- Through that mentality, you actually don’t know what you should or shouldn’t do.
- Ask about what you did wrong, ask how to avoid making the same mistake next time.
- Like this instead of repeating the same mistake, I make them ONCE.
- In order to know what we are doing wrong, we need a second opinion.

This is 6 years old and someone like me is benefiting from it! Thank you so much for these vids and your program! I want to say more but I’ll keep it at a simple and deep thank you!
Hi, Charlie. I know this is crazy but I admit that your channel is addictive. Last night, I watched videos relating to Game of Thrones as usual and I cam across your channel analyzing my beloved Tyrion Lannister. After that, I watched another couple videos talking about my favorite TV shows and I decided to subscribe. Then, I explored your channel. I found out that it's very useful so I watched it until 8 in the morning. Today, even though I am not fully recovered from my illness, instead of watching TV, listening to some music or wandering on CZcams, I'm fully committed myself learning on these many awesome social skills from your channel.
I feel so grateful to find your channel exactly right on time because I am about to start working with a new group of people and I want to make sure I am likable because it is important for this temporary job, and having a charisma is so important of my career.
Years ago, I was a nicer person --- people told me that I was a very sweet person. Of course, I was deceived and got my heart broken many times until it got so shattered. Then, it came to the point that I no longer wanted to fight, which meant I no longer wanted to live. So, the long story short is that I become a much more stronger person than I used to be but at the same time, I became more cold person. I can cut toff he bad energy from the situation or others fast, and does not let it affect me. However, because of this "I-don't-care-about-how-they-feel-but-myself attitude", sometimes people got misunderstood that I was unfriendly and arrogant. I know that there are still sweet of me deep inside, and some people who get to spend some times with me know that; still, it affects my life and it hurts to find out that some people don't like me, are afraid of me and misunderstand me.
Luckily, I'm a person who LOVES to improve myself and I also love to get to know myself all the time. I always analyze the situation both bad and good. And when things go wrong, I often understand why by trying to walk on that person's shoes. After realizing the cause of problem, I'll solve it.
Anyway, I also realize that I have to work on my charisma as well. I know I am a good and nice person. And despite how I disagree with certain things people think and do, I want them to like me without losing who I am. I also realize that I'm better than that kind of person who treat other people badly because they are not as smart as you, not as good as you, etc. As I am a good and nice person, I know that people deserve good things despite how different we are, and I should be a person who always treated people nicely if my life goal is to be an inspiration.
------------------------------
Well, since this message is extremely long, even though it's important for the creator to receive a nice feedback, I want to ask you and even beg you to create a video in a topic "How to make a good CZcams video".
You see, I'm not going to teach anything relating to charisma, I have other passion I want to follow. Still, I need to have a guideline from a charisma master about how to make a good teaching video. If it's not about the content, what can attract more people and make them come back over and over again.

This comment isn't relating to anything. I'm so confused.
It sounds cool and all, but you need to understand that pirating software doesn't give the pleasure of getting and working for the money required to buy the actual thing. When you've worked to get something it makes you feel so much better. You're ruining your experience by just using illegal methods to obtain software.
Do you talk to me or Charlie?

I went to Pewd’s video AFTER reading the comments
1. Take a small unit of success
2. Take one thing, repeat it so long so that it becomes a habit (at least 3 weeks) and then move on!
3. Smaller periods of learning every day is better than the last few days learning like you would have to kick the bucket otherwise.
4. When you start, test different kinds of methods (qualitatively). As soon as you feel like really growing in one particular field of learning and feel the most comfortable compared to the others, remain true to it!
5. Don't make the same mistakes all over again. You are smart, you give other people chances to make mistakes too and learn from their's. It saves you lots of time and emotional pain! Learn from your and others mistakes!
Best regards, my dear power people ;-)

I know it does not have much to do with charisma, but could you do a video about procrastination?
I'm currently trying to deal with it, but I'm kind of in a struggle :DD
Why do something tomorrow, if you can do it next week?
Maybe watch the willpower video?
As a fellow sufferer, my best advice is not to look for motivation from videos or anything like that, the effect lasts for about 1 minute.
Meditation helped me, as it helped me identify the pull when my mind is wandering on to something else. It takes a few weeks to really recognise the feeling and be able to stop yourself.
Another tip is to listen to some generic video games music while you work, I don't know why it works, but it really does.
Another thing I discovered on my own is... when you first wake up, deliberately refrain from doing something that distracts you, such as going on to youtube or reddit to see whats new. You will find you are less inclined to go on throughout the day.
1) Do the hardest thing first, like studying.
2) Avoid ALL distractions, like uninstall your video games, study in a library
Your going to get that "I don't wanna" feeling, do what you have to do and that feeling will gradually go away.
I always look through past papers and scare the shit out of myself because I no clue then I study faster haha

Reviewing your mistakes is so important. For every job I've been unsuccessful in applying for, I always contact the interviewer in earnest and ask how I could have improved or if there was something they felt I was lacking in. They look upon it very favourably, and I've actually been offered jobs I was previously refused after doing it. If you want anything at life, be persistent. You don't have to be amazing, as long as you take it step by step, don't give up, and you'll get there fine in the end.
*What a great advice. Thanks for sharing!*

It's never too late to teach an old dog new tricks and at 60 I feel this arena just might be the one area that has me stuck and stagnant. Social 'interaction' has never been a facet of my life that I thought about in a room-for-improvement kind of way. I guess it was something I took for granted. The high point for me is the fact that all your advice is ethical, kind and tactful, and.... effective. Kind of reminds me of Assertiveness Training I did in the late 70's. You are so genuine and your passion for your topic is palpable. The words integrity and character are not words I typically associate with people these days. They are sincerely qualities you possess. Appreciate you sharing very much. Regards, Debbie Thomas
