  • Slippery wet to drying track at Oulton Park with an oil spill at Druids earlier in the day made for tricky conditions. Chase car is my supercharged e46 M3 on race wets following ‪@leetaylor238.‬ in the black e46 M3 (standard power on Accelera 651 Sport Xtra tyres). The difference is night and day, but the right tyres make more difference than the extra power, trust me. Unfortunately, a slight error through Druids led to an off, and once on wet grass there's no changing direction!

I think he's done fifty or sixty trackdays at a guess. I was very surprised he went off. Usually he'd easily correct a slide like that

How does he find the 651 on the m3??

We both either use race wets or slicks on trackdays and the 651 (100 TW) as a road legal 'inter' tyre. Lee thought it would dry up so he brought slicks and was stuck with using the 651s all day as it never dried. They are okay, but overheat easily in dry conditions and don't perform as well as a race wet if it's even slightly wet. They're not bad as a road tyre because unless you're completely unhinged you probably won't overheat them with road driving.

@@Doctor__M would they compare to a ps4s in the dry?

@@monkeycsl The 651s can do around 3 or 4 good hot laps before overheating. I'm not sure about the PS4S though, I've never used them.
