New to this channel, but the interviewer who kept pushing this idea that Peterson should enter politics was a bit annoying. I get the idea, and I do respect it, but it was like you couldn't take no for an answer and kept hammering at it. While wasting a significant amount of my time as a possibly new viewer.
You also were seemingly convinced that Peterson didn't understand you. While he actually did, and was politely/intelligently telling you why he wasn't interested in a career in politics. Regardless of the whole "unwanted hero" spiel you kept playing at him. (And it's pretty understandable he wouldn't go into politics when you look at how Jordans life has been the past few years. Makes sense he wants to stick to what he enjoys).
It was as if you were so convinced that your idea was brilliant, that you got fixated on it. And kind of automatically tuned-out what was being said to you in response...It's great having ideas, they're for sure fun to contemplate. I get that. But it gets annoying when you ignore input because you think you're the smartest cookie in the jar.
      Still upvoted the interview ofcourse.

Let's think for a moment how humble Jordan is:
    * when young he realized he doesn't know enough and thus avoided forcing half-baked views on people
    * honestly and openly considered the points of opposition
    * when he found out he's wrong he changed

He's views on possibly being boxed in once he is elected are a real threat to his reach and freedom to speak publicly without prejudice or hurting political alignment. He always stated harshly against toxic political correctness and things don't change overnight. It just might take a few other changes for a man such as him to be able to fully assume public office as we would like it.
Also, don't forget our own cognitive biases and always remain skeptic even when someone like him, that we look up to, gets elected. Not having them engage and actually get PAST something that's creating a wedge is so damn frustrating. Instead of coming to some kind of understanding, you're left always with that problem in the back of your mind, and the longer you wait, the easier it is for them to say "wow, you're still on that? Let it go!" But if you try to squash it when it's fresh, they just avoid confrontation. And when it's not addressed, it's all the more likely it'll happen again.

He's also become a lot more ideological and less scientific since he's become popular, which I think is expected when you become such a polarizing socio-political figure people look up to for answers, it incentivizes you to justify your opinions with psueo-facts in times when they are all just simple human opinions.

Imagine it though... a PM that gives his open and HONEST opinion and stands by it, right or wrong. One that LISTENS to the voices of everyone, takes those opinions and points of view in, considers them and then responds intelligently would be quite the thing to see in a leader. We can dream.

yes but it takes more than that. i agree his logic is sound but even he said he doesnt have the stomach for it and makes more impact now because it would probably fuck him up and put him in a box which is fair enough. i would have to say the same for most ppl including myself.
this job is not for the light hearted, you have to be willing to be the centre of strength around a load of intensely fucked up people constantly trying to sabotage or suck up to you which tends to fuck people up. You start to lose a sense of whats right and wrong with horribly critical news outlets lying about you, questioning your every move and a world of pressure.
whats probably worse is what happens behind the scenes with all the advisors and fbi officials/pentagon etc who have been in power for 50+ years. and then after all that you have to soak in all this knowledge and learn this confusing info from the national security and it tends to put people in a different frame of mind one thats not necessarily better for the country but "safer" i may add. which is probably why shit never changes that much..
luckily a good president will bring in a team of strong people with them that will fuck shit up, they really need to focus more on this and explain this to the people when we elect them and be more open about who they are bringing in beforehand with them so we also have a say in for that.

Instead, you have to lie, dither, and pander to the electorate to get elected and stay elected. And once you get elected. if you get re-elected, you have a pension for life! There is no incentive to be honest and to negotiate with other parties across those honest positions. European politicians who have proportional representation behave much better. There is no tacky marketing to win as all parties know one has to negotiate instead.
