I ended up getting a court ordered “Injunction for Protection Against Domestic violence” sooo (as a former Couet Advocate trained by the State Attorneys Crime prevention Institute over 6 cities, I can attest that if he’s threatened you verbally or on any way.:.you simply take a print screen of the text or record him but even if you don’t your word on a legal document (courts won’t charge you if you fill out their financial forms proving you can’t afford filing fees) and if he violates it even indirectly by getting a 3rd party to try and stalk u OR the kids (sitting outside a grocery store or whatever) he can be arrested ! Of course you’d have to report it in order for that to happen.
I highly recommend getting the assistance of your local domestic violence either nonprofit or local victim advocate at the sheriffs office or state attorney to assist you & they will go to court with you for the initial hearing .
The Judge will approve it THAT day and you can put what store you frequent, church, school, wherever you go and he won’t be able to go within 500 feet of it.
If you feel he’d violate it anyway & do something crazy then they will pay for relocation services (done payment for new place, utilities deposit etc. ) and have an address confidentially program so your car registration, voting records with the local Supervisor of Elections of records so that he won’t find out where you’ve moved (of course don’t forward your address.)
