    As always you have the back of the 'reasonable' budding audiophile. You help us as we find the right equipment for our ears and I am grateful for your videos. I like the sound of the S-300s. I would like to know if it is worth saving up to get 2 Reactors or do you think I might be better off getting the same from this pair? You have had both - what do you think? It seems that getting the S-300's would save 50% of the cost -0 what might I be giving up?.
    Also, I was wondering....have you had the chance to see and listen to the new Bang and Olufsen Beosound A1 2nd Generation? You liked the previous version - I had the same colour as you - the Moss Green. The A1 is a great speaker and they have updated it with Bluetooth 5 and some battery and, what must be, slight driver changes. It would be interesting to get your perspective.

      Thanks!
      I would choose the S-300s. The Reactor does get better when played in stereo but I think it still doesn't sound as refined as the S-300s.
      I was thinking about reviewing the A1 2nd version in the future, I might be doing it!

    Great content and thanks for bringing this video. You are always great at finding cost effective solutions. I apologise to ask but, I didn't catch the answer to a question I have. Toni, to play these speakers, do they need to be powered by an amplifier or do those small parts at the back, power them? When you say passive, I was thinking yes they need an amplifier. But I was hearing you saying 'out of the box', so I got confused. The problem lies with me! I am misunderstanding, please can you clarify? Many thanks

    Hello!
    Thank you for your awesome videos. They are so helpful and interesting. I need a little advice from you please: i am choosing between a Vifa Helsinki and Bang and Olufsen Beoplay A1 for my home listening, sometimes garden. I know they are probably in different categories, but i simply love the look of both:) I am not really interested in heavy bass, but looking for quality, control and sound stage.
    Which one of these two sounds best?? Please help. Thank you:)

    One of the determining parameters for subwoofers or low frequency drivers is the EBP number so some speakers CAN be used either sealed or ported it's an application choice and a trade off of efficiency,you can make the same speaker sound very different depending on how you design the application not all speakers are made equal though this be said, good presentation though👌👏

    Hi, thank you for your review.
    When you talk about frequency response/meassurements, can you show us graphs? When you play music, can you specify audio quality/resolution and maybe switch to music played by its own (not by speakers)? Thank you very much for your effort.

    dude it's 2020, kefs don't use the woofer as a waveguide anymore. that's why they flattened the surrounds. the tangerine waveguide and horn prevent the tweeter from ever interacting with the woofer.
    the prior design you're talking about is a completely different design.
    if there were woofer tweeter phase issues you'd hear it at the crossover region and a test would reveal a squiggly line, but even back then that only applied to on axis listening which isnt how you're supposed to toe kefs.

    • @speakertoni2680
      @speakertoni2680  Před 3 lety +1

      You do know that a waveguide this shallow is not enough to block all frequencies from hitting the woofers cone right
      If that’s what you implied here
      It’d have to block all sounds coming from the tweeter outside an angle of 45 degrees and that’s definitely not the case
      Not even in *2021

    • @linkeddevices
      @linkeddevices Před 3 lety +1

      @@speakertoni2680 yea it is. that's specifically differentiates kefs Uni Q based on the classic patent and the new Uni Q first prototyped on the 3001/SEs and then the blade and Ls50. that's why they bothered with the recessed surrounds but before to prepare they already added the horn rim and then with the tangerine waveguide the horn became prominent enough that it fires completely clear of the woofer even when it's extended.
      the tangerine waveguide is essentially the same concept that kef just seems to love I. e. putting things inside of other things. the new tweeter works entirely on its own serving as it's own waveguide which also allowed them to place the tweeter on any flat baffle like their industrial speakers or the flat slim line series.
      of you look at the design you'll notice the tweeter is placed as if it were a woofer with no waveguide needed at all.
      you can clearly see the tweeter's line of sight clear from the widest angle:
      The line between New KEF and Classic KEF. imgur.com/gallery/NUGGGj0
      there's no way for the tweeter to fire backward around the horn.
      The classic Uni Q applied the 45 degree angle of incidence to the profile of the cone when the flare of the cone did have its outer edge used as a waveguide per the original patent which actually especially toward the later stages with) starting with the Second Gen XQ series which sounds more unified since using the cones outer rim created the impression that the sound of the tweeter was coming from the entire driver. When I first reviewed the ls50s I noticed you can definitely hear the tweeter much more obviously. this may measure better but subjectively it didn't sound as musical but did sound a tad more clear.
      It's such a complete toss up between the final revision of the classic Uni Q and the new Uni Q that they had to create this whole ls50 being based on the ls3 5a and / or based on the blade campaign to solve the new coke versus classic coke quandary they knew would otherwise split the audience.
      the same thing is happening now with the "Meta" tech which is just a gimmick because they're on their 12th gen Uni Q and ceased making parts for the ls50, so now the new ls50 is based on the 12th gen Uni Q, is no longer voiced to sound like the ls3 5a at all anymore and is just another KEF speaker. the difference presented another new coke vs coke classic quandary so the Meta tech gimmick is used just like the mythos behind the ls50 to excuse the change and prime your expectations to except the change as better.

    Hallo Toni. Hast du bei Reckhorn mal angefragt ob sie dir eine DSP-6 zur Verfügung stellen? Betreibe die Boxen selber an einer DSP-6, die gab es mal in einer Aktion gratis dazu. Der Sound wird dann noch mal um einiges verbessert. Da muss man bei manchen Liedern die Augen schließen daß man da noch alle Geräusche mit bekommt die da im Raum schweben 😁

      @@speakertoni2680 Guten Abend. Vielen Dank für die Info.....da ich mich gerade damit beschäftige meine GLE Standlautsprecher von Canton zu erneuern wäre halt der Gedanke auch wegen des Platzes auf die Kugeln auszuweichen. Evtl. dann auch die etwas kleineren als Rearlautsprecher als 5.1 zu verwenden. Als Center in der Mitte eine Kugel wäre jetzt optisch vielleicht nicht so schön, da müsste man mal schauen. Kann man die S300 als vollwertigen Lautsprecher ansehen wenn man dazu noch einen Subwoofer nimmt? Grüße Jürgen
