As a scientist the science bit made me chuckle in a good way. I’m down with dopamine dressing because dressing well and it colors feel nice. Yellow and orange are my favorites in general and I feel amazing in those colors. Boring colors look dull on me unless I have some cool details. This type of dressing reminds me of Iris Apfel and Mindy Kaling style.

I always loved dressing in color: when I was a kid I had a yellow coat I was obsessed with, then in university I had a bright green coat I absolutely loved, I have also owned lime green pants, yellow t-shirts, and the list goes on. In the last few years I hated the all-neutrals trend, because it was almost impossible to find colored clothes, and I am so happy color is back! It definitely helps my mood to wear colorful clothes, and I am happy this is making its way into other people's closets.

What a great video topic, and your editing is on poiiiiiiint! 😄
In 2020 I got postpartum depression after having my 4th baby.... plus the pandemic... and in an effort to feel better, I began getting dressed in Safari colors, because that’s what lifted me up from those wretched feelings. Wearing khaki skirts and button down shirts with a waist belt really brought joy into my life. It sounds weird, but I think what we love as children can really help us as adults. I loved leopard print, African colors, and wearing things that made me feel like I was going on a Safari - long button-down shirt dresses in an earthy color, for example, or a Safari print scarf in my hair.
I once read that you should have 3 Things that you look forwards to doing, every day, and it acts like a natural antidepressant. Wearing things that I love and making outfit combinations is one of mine!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience Christiana. It’s so special to hear about the ways that finding joy in style helped you through a difficult time. I love how the things that bring us joy as children can still make us joyful as adults! I feel the same way about pink and princess-y silhouettes!

I completely agree. our childhood colors seem to eventually come back to us as adults. But aside from childhood colors I do believe that wearing what you like or what you love and colors prints whatever it might be, the point is it makes you happy and that's all that matters. I do believe that clothing can have an influence on our personality, attitude happiness or sadness just it makes a difference. At least in me it does. Thank you for sharing.

In general during the summer months I love bright colors and I didn't realize there was a scientific term for it, but my favorite summer color is coral. It's just such a beautiful color.

I have seen the trend in bright colors, but I didn't know what it was called. From age 8 to 13 I attended a sleep away-camp on a beautiful lake in Vermont where we wore navy shorts and white blouses. To this day navy and white outfits make me feel good. I have gone through periods where I enjoyed a certain bright color: spring green, melon, red. I recently had my colors done (yes, that is back again), and I enjoy wearing the colors in my palette because I know they look good on me. I instinctively knew about some of "my" colors, but I have now a few more. Thanks, Lauren.

I’ve been trying to find someone to do a color analysis. Any suggestions?

Funny thing: bubblegum pink and firehouse red are THE two colors that make me look (not feel) my best. However...being an introvert and a pretty shy person in general these are the two colors I never wear. I have plenty of pieces in both colors but they all are just packed away in boxes...and I end up wearing only the neutral colors: navy, beige and gray...
but I do break them out for special occasions - parties, weddings and such. And those are the occasions I get the most compliments on my complexion, because they are the colors that make my skin look so, so good...make me look young and fresh and empowered.

How fun to see you tonight. You are such a lovely young woman. This was a very insightful video. I am so on board with dressing to elevate mood. I tried wearing more neutral colors and it just didnt make me feel happy. I'm so excited that you are including colors that you love too. Thank you for all your insights. ❤❤❤
