Hallöchen hab grad gesehen du bist aus Deutschland, das freut mich dann muss ich mich jetzt nicht ins englische quälen :D
Wir wollen in zwei Wochen zu einer helloween Party und eine Freundin würde gerne so geschminkt werden, habe jetzt auch schon alles dafür bestellt aber wir wissen nicht so recht was man dazu anziehen könnte, da sie ja schlecht halb nackt und angemalt in die Disko gehen kann :D wäre schön wenn du da vielleicht was empfehlen könntest :)

Not saying anything bad, your make up looks amazing, you just wrong about one thing, sirens are not mermaids, sirens are half-bird and half-human, not half-fish :)
Really? But aren't they as mermaids with a fish tail? but haha if you say so. I'm not too familiar with them.
Oh no no people mixed up the mermaids and sirens that's why people think that they are the same, but historically mermaids are half-huan hafl-fish, and sirens are half-human half-birds :)
Actually no, I'm not saying you can't call them that I'm just saying that those legends are not right because people mix up the two, plus I don't think we should argue about it though
Even though they are often depicted as half birds because of Greek mythology, I think it makes sense that they are half fish. Why? Because the animal that they are based on (Sea cows) are called sirenia. But they are also depicted as bird like creatures that had human faces and scaly feet. So maybe they're kinda both? I mean, like they sing lullabies to the sailors in water and swoop up at night when they're asleep.

Jame Bleeds like any mythology, it varies depending on the story. Some are mermaids, which is why romantic languages call them, sirena, and sirene, but others are birds. Even in greek mythology, a story would vary depending on the place. The starbucks logo is a siren: www.starbucks.com/blog/so-who-is-the-siren. Sailors and other cultures eventually evolved the siren to be a fusion of mermaid and siren, and sea nymphs. You're right though, initially in the first stories, they were birds...I think I just gave away my mermaid obsession >_
Caitlyn Kimura yeah lol i have a obsession with mythology period, and it bugs me to now end how the confusion came about which started with people wanting to romanticize everything. It did start from greel culture which is the truest and everything else from other cultures put the pretty face to it is all. Id love to see a siren done right, the half bird half women way without trying to make it being so focused on the beauty of the creature. Overall she did a great look but it should have just been called a mermaid.
