That siren from Tatra from Ukraine is an old Czechoslovak siren, old and decommissioned equipment from service in the Czech Republic is sent to Ukraine to finish its service there.
This siren is still often used by volunteer firefighters in CZ and i like it more than nowadays sirenes
6:57 This is the Trabant 601, the most famous car from East Germany. It was the cheapest car in the world.
7:33 This is the Wartburg 353, next car from East Germany.
My father had a Wartburg 353 for some years in the middle of the 70th. He had a Mazda 1500 combi my1970 during the same time. Then he bought a used Renault 12 my 1976 from his brother. This was used quite a long time!
and both cars have a two-stroke engine
no engine braking, if the brakes aren't in great shape ....

There was a joke in Yugoslavia:
what do the Japanese call Trabant and Wartburg?
answer:
"jakodimi" / "It smokes a lot" 😂
Quote: "The American Truck Company (ATC) is an importer of the Czech Tatra trucks to the United States. These trucks are being offered for military and other government organizations. The Tatra trucks are rebadged and sold in the United States under the ATC brand."
That explain everything... Just like SISU trucks, which are rebranded Renault trucks, specialized in quarry trucks, and the Astra, which is the specialized vehicles division (also quarry trucks mostly) of the italian Iveco...
Quote on the Iveco's Magirus, which is the offroad/specialistic model for any other kind of applications instead of the more standard Iveco Stralis, Highway, S-Way and Eurocargo
I don't think this is still true, I think that joint venture existed when Tatra had different owners. Now there are news that a new contract for joint venture was signed with a NO. 2 American military vehicle producer.
not true, ATC is Tatra, Terex Corporation and STV USA = Tatra platform with US components assembled in Terex in US.
@@TheKubyk Terex is not Tatra's shareholder for at least 15 years by now and I don't think the joint venture works anymore. The purpose of ATC was to go big and get one of the huge military contracts, not to sell a fire engine here and there. At least that's my impression.
ATC stands for "American Truck Company" - importers of Tatra trucks into the US! :)
that light blue bus at 7:40 is a hungarian Ikarus 55 or 66, was a fairly widespread brand with several models throughout Europe, but especially in the Eastern Bloc from 60's-80's, but also in many places overseas.

Hello from Czech republic. Varnsdorf is city and its definitely isn't in USA but, in Czechia, from country where Tatra has a production line and headquarters. And, Hasiči is in english Firemen.
@*UncleJoe* Personally, I am of the opinion that as far as such vehicles in the Czech Republic are concerned, the Tatra is slowly at the top in terms of terrain permeability. However, probably the most permeable car that the Czechs produced was the Praga V3S. Yes, that truck had a nice name back in the day, Praga, when our capital is Praha (Prague)😉
In the Czech Republic we make a truck with the name ExcaliburArmy, which is perhaps the most famous chassis in the world. Tatra chassis. This company delivered two special firefighting vehicles Titan, Triton to Czech firefighters
The American Truck Company (ATC) is an importer of the Czech Tatra trucks to the United States. These trucks are being offered for military and other government organizations. The Tatra trucks are rebadged and sold in the United States under the ATC brand. The Tatra T815 is being marketed under a straightforward ATC 6x6 name. Its Czech chassis designation is T815-6MWV27 26 298 6x6.1R
When I was in military service on Airfield Mošnov then Czecho-Slovakia one guy took Tatra 815 8x8 for illegal trip around airport and in process panicked when tried to be stopped by patrol and went right through forrest putting down trees with 15 - 20 cm trunks with ease. He was stopped after some 20 - 30 meters only by tree roots overturned by falling tree which lifted truck front axle. Only damage was tyre damaged from dislocated cabin. Even guys from manufacturer located cca 15 km away were surprised with that performance.
That "little green guy" is a Trabant 601 "Kübelwagen" used by the "Grenztruppen der DDR" and "Nationale Volksarmee der DDR", during comunism in East-Germany. It was made from 1966 until 1990 and based on the Trabant 601. About 11.150 "Kübelwagen"were made.
Tatras are the basic trucks in Czech army. They use them almost for everything. Logistics aswell as a base for various rocket launchers and artillery pieces. Find RM-71 or DANA self-propelled howitzer.
The green guy is a Trabant Kübel, which was the military version of the Trabant 601.
It was made in the GDR in Zwickau in the company that was Auto Union and Horch before 2nd world war.

6:54 This is a military variant of a car which goes by the name "Trabant" (aka "Trabbi"). The Trabant in all its variants was build in the former DDR (east Germany). The nickname of these military cars was "Schluchtenstürmer" ("canyon rusher"), because it is so tiny. The western counterparts of this vehicle would have been the HMMWV/Hummer or in West Germany the "Iltis" ("polecat") from Volkswagen and later the "Wolf" (military version of the Mercedes G Modell) Original car: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant_601
Hallo, big greeting from the Czechia! Is very good honor fór the Moravian Tatra Kopřivnice factory to ALL od thier type od cars was used like a FIRE CARS! 7:41 The legendary old Hungarian bus brand, the Ikarus (no, not Russian!). Used worldwide and because it was strong and easy to maintain, and there were places where normally only this bus could go e.g.: Greece serpentines etc. In Hungary and the surrounding countries, there are still later versions that work and are perhaps better known, but most of them are in museums or have been scrapped. By the way, there is a world-renowned restoration workshop here, where they repair them, no matter where they come from. They are usually brought back to Hungary by rich Germans, because the German mechanics do a bad job and lie on the job!
They also built their own version based on the American Steiger Cougar II tractor, which was improved several times and fitted with engines tuned by the legendary Rába Hungarian Wagon and Machine Works. This was the Rába-Steiger, which was and is also used in other countries!
The sound of the engine was extraordinary, wherever it went in the world, people remembered and loved it!
The legend says that Ikarus in North Korea are still running 👀
@Elisa (and her West French Level Crossings) This is possible, the "newer" versions is used in other places and even in Hungary (IKARUS 200 series, 400 series, "classic" like C56, and "E" series and other not famous models, but of course they are slowly being replaced by new ones) and the other bustype the CREDO! IKARUS is not modern, but still going!
And this is the guy who fixing every problem on legendary buses, this bus come from Germany, but the work of the Germans was bad, but the also German owner find this guy and the team, and now....this old timer legend are running again, and everything is working well! This man can fix anything, he even has a tank, a T34 or Brithis bus etc! Check this video: Utolsó tánc (viszlát faros). This is the same bus version as in the video, and this is the last day of the bus in Hungary!
8:18 that siren is a Tesla AZD 501 from the 70s and 80s originally produced in Czechoslovakia.
@IWrocker This little car is a Trabant that was the most driven car in GDR East Germany. It has a two-stroke engine.
07:39 that bus is Ikarus Lux made in Hungary . Yes that was here in Estonia in 1968 - 1979 line bus Tallinn to Loksa is 76 km / 47,5 miles ant taht was "Express" = only 3 stops and 1 h 30 minutes trip . Yes I ride and have memories 1975 -1979 when I was kid.
FYI the old Tatra has a 8 cylinder AIR cooled V8 engine, that is why the turbine sound.
ATC (American Truck Company) was an importer in the U.S. of Czech trucks Tatra, where they were sold under its own brand ATC.
I think these days we get Tatra trucks in the Netherlands, they make off road versions using Daf cabs. Ill miss Ginaf but Tatra is very cool
While the German Unimog is a very good very capable offroad truck, it quickly reaches its limits when it carries a heavy load. In contrast to that Tatra remains offroad capable even when fully loaded.
And in case of the 813 it also can pull 100 tonnes trailers...^^
At 7.21 I was driving that old Tatra for a year in the army. Many pneumatic switches, all wheel drive good fun :) It has 1319 gallons of water on board and some 65 gallons of foam ... making liquid thing - I don't know how it's called. + all the kitts hoses and stuff. The pump can do 703 gallons/minute. And 2 telescopic standing up style water cannon on the roof. ( on the version we had)
Amazing trucks. Beautiful oldschool looking trucks. Thanks, i really like compilations and your commentary ; )
6:55 Trabant
This vehicle at 6:58 is a variant of Trabant produced in East Germany. In Czechia called BMW (Bakelitové motorové vozidlo) of the East 😀.
In 80's - I was working in Tatra factory. Building 8/10/12 cylinders some twin turbos engines. Green car Trabant w/600cc 2 cycle engine and fuel tank on top of engine. No fuel pump needed. But in front end collision mostly likely catch on fire. All body was plastic .
The American Truck Company (ATC) is an importer of the Czech Tatra trucks to the United States.
7:00 ist a Trabant it was the Most popular car in east Germany before 1990
6:52 The little green guy is a Trabant 601, NVA convertible version and no doors. Basically, same concept as the old VW Kübelwagen.
NVA was the army of east German GDR which existed before German reunification in 1991.
Greetings from Czechia. I am really surprised how known our Tatras are.. Maybe you would love to see some older tatras also? Tatra 813 is also impressive one, these are beasts in trucktrial events.. Some sneak peak here: czcams.com/video/bM9-XNX2nwI/video.html
I hope you will find 813's also interesting as I love these.. :)
You may wanna watch out, just in ten days (24th of may) TATRA will be introducing two new models to the public. And they look sick. :) It will take place at the PYROS expo in Brno CZ. Just something you may wanna look forward to. :)
The little "green Guy" is a Trabant Kübelwagen. It was used by the fromer GDR Army.

You must look at "magical" Tatra suspension, its different😁
European vehicles are exported often to America. Some notable examples were Skoda Trolleybuses for San Francisco MUNI transit and Dayton, Ohio. Hungarian bus brand Ikarus is operated all over the US, americans call them NABI, you should check them out too. You might also want to look at Renault Magnum semi-trucks which were demonstrated in the US during their Route 66 tour.

the green car between the firetrucks in Germany.. It looks like a"jeep" transformed Trabant
the white and red is the Tatra. I like to see the Tatra as a firefighter all over the world. I'm proud of the fact that we deliver quality
Tatra makes 12 wheel drive trucks and can't be stopped

ATC (american truck company) Tatras "were badged and sold in the United States under the ATC brand. ATC badged Tatras were fitted with American Cummins turbodiesel engines in place of the Tatra's air-cooled diesel." (wikipedia)

Do you konow other popular czech brand CZUB? CZ is a firearms manufacturer known for quality guns. CZUB has been the owner of Colt's Manufacturing Company since 2021.
That green little guy was Trabant. It is vehicle build in East Germany in the times of Cold War. Here some info on wiki en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trabant
You're a man of culture
From 2002 to 2006, Tatra was majority owned by the American Terex Corporation. From 2006 Tatra was a part of the Czech Blue River Group. This Amarican company almost ruined Tatra. After that, a Czechoslovak company bought it and again positioned it at the top of the segment.
"Little green guy" is Trabant 601A+F. Old small military version of Trabant 601. Engine is only 594,5cc and 19,1 kW and it has two cylinders - two stroke gasoline engine.
In the movie fury road, the big rig is a reworked Tatra. used the chassis, engine and gearbox.

ATC to ličenční výroba nebo zastoupení Tatry pro USA,ale místo vzduchem chlazených naftových motorů a manuální převodovky mají motory nafty Deutz bo Perkins a jiné a mají pro USA automaty.
6:56 a green car produced in East Germany when it was under Soviet occupation named Trabant 601 Kübel has been produced since 1967 . Two-stroke gasoline engines (add oil to gasoline) . In Poland, in slang, it was called "soap dish" because the body was made of a plastic called duroplast. Poles associated it with a plastic package for storing a bar of soap
Lil green guy is Trabant 601, funny "plastic" car (in fact it's mixture of textile waste and resin). My parents call it "PVC Jaguar". 🤣
The classic Trabant, that used to be common in Czech, people said that it's made of a bakelite, which would be made of a resin(pryskyřice) the predecessor of a plastic?
But i've never heard of PVC Jaguar, good one :)
The "little Green Car" is a (east German) produced Trabant but I think the soft top is DIY
8:23 this is an old,... maybe 80s Czechoslovakian siren
I don't know the exact model, but the little green car at 7:00 in the video is a military version of a Trabant.
The new tatra's are using daf cf components like the cab, engine and chassis. Like the yellow isrealian one. And the funny thing is that daf is a part of paccar what is a us company..
The chassis is NOT DAF - original TATRA for over 100 years 🙂czcams.com/video/NjLtO5msx1M/video.html
Only the Tatra Phoenix uses the DAF cab and engine, the chassis are always Tatra. Other Tatras use their own cabins and air-cooled Tatra engines. The Tatra engine does not meet the Euro 6 standard, therefore it does not use original engines for the civilian market. Air-cooled Tatra engines and cabs are used in army, firefighting and other special vehicles because they are very reliable.
This little green Car is a Trabant 601, bildet in the GDR
zdravím TATRA se vyvážela z České republiky do celého světa dělali železniční motorové vozy, osobní i nákladní auta a dokonce i letadla !
This is worth watching
Tatra Trucks is negotiating a partnership with the car manufacturer AM General. AMG has experience supplying the US military, but does not have its own product in the heavy off-road vehicle category.
Do you have some more info on that? I work at TATRA and haven´t heard about such thing (which doesn´t means it can´t be true, i may just lost it in communication) :D :D
@@samotnaf007 The project is just at the beginning. The two companies are getting to know each other's capabilities and considering what a joint product might look like.
(Tatra would supply the chassis or their components, but the frames, cabs and superstructures would be made in the United States)

The small green car was a Trabant. They smoke blue out of the exhaustion, 5 km after they left the factory. And they smelled horribly, when you passed them on the road.
Officially, the Trabant has never overtaken another vehicle on the road. They were that slow!

ATC is the brand name Tatra trucks are sold under in the US, American truck company. The Israel army bought some ATC (Tatra) trucks from the US, so the Israel army ones are also badged ATC as they were bought from an American dealer.
That small green thing is Trabant ex military vehicle
this little green stuff is Trabant in military mod.
I would've thought that a US government department like the fire service would have all American built vehicles.
Its good to see some departments looking at other countries equipment.
I wonder if we have any over here in the UK.
The only former Eastern block countries vehicles I tend to see here, is privately owned military vehicles such as the Zill 131, Gaz-66 and Urals ect.
Tatra firetrucks become more and more popular in Germany, especially in the federal states with large forest areas. In the following video there is an out of German standard (two-tone) sirene, maybe because the fire department is very clse to the Czech border.
czcams.com/video/zgQEJdjQLOg/video.html
Fun fact. The czech two-tone signal for firecars should remind to czechs the sound of word HOŘÍ (hoo-říí)...which in english means "its burning".😉

That green little thing you ask about at 6:55 looks like a Trabant. YOU WANT TO STAY AWAY FROM THOSE! Horrible little things 😅😅😅😅

i think i have driven one of them in snowrunner
Green car looks like a customised Trabant, from East Germany
Love for Tatra is very understandable, I liked them the second I first saw one. Heavy trucks with all wheel drive are wonderful in general, but unfortunately also very obscure and you'd normally not know about them without deliberately looking them up. Soviet Union built a bunch of cool ones that I know about. Don't know much about US built ones, I know of the M939 and CCKW but not much else.
Hello, small correction - the Czech Republic (part of the former Czechoslovakia) was never part of the Soviet Union. Although it was part of the communist bloc (Eastern bloc), it was always a sovereign country, unfortunately occupied by the Soviet army since 1968.
the little green guy is a military version the trabant 601
ATC is Tatra like something if you see Ford Mustang and Shelby Mustang, same thing
7:00 i think its some kind of modification from Trabant maybe

I'm from the Czech Republic and almost every village volunteer fire brigade here in the Czech Republic has the old 6x6 Tatra 148. It is a cistern for 7000 liters of water. It has a V8 12.4l engine.
and for moving people 99,9% of fire brigades have AVIA 30...for moving just firefighters most of the firebrigades also bought Ford transit in recent years
@@wensdyy6466 AVIA 30 The Fastest vehicle on czech roads, always in front of the pack.
Pepik Slavek, neumím tak dobře anglicky jako ty i když komentář jsem si přelouskal ale chtěl bych ti říct, že za jsem za tvým vozidlem TATRA 148 a dal jsem ti odběr a palec nahoru a fandím ti.
Well guys, i think this is not a truth to this date. Today, the Tatra 815 is more common as a vehicle of volunteer fire brigades (Usually 6x6 CAS 32 classic configuration with short cab), 148 is going to be a history soon... There were much more of them some years back... And they will only get rid of, because of their age... I know, that they are the best in terrain (In Hřensko, year ago, on one of the worst terrain road down there) the fire chief said, half of the road will be used by all other engines, on that really bad and damaged second half i can use only a Tatra 148.... Plus Classic THT body of Tatra 148 has 6000 litres of water, and 600 litres of foam.
