    This video demonstrates how to install standard LED resistors in order to slow down LED turn signals. Resistors and LED bulbs available from Diode Dynamics! Give us a call with any questions 314-205-3033 or email contact@diodedynamics.com
    Despite widespread misinformation, quick splices are a reliable solution for the purpose highlighted here. NOTE: Please don't tell people to solder. If you do not have proper tools and experience, you will do a very poor job, and the connection will simply crack and break within weeks of installation.

    This is the only clear installation instruction on how to install those resistor splice connectors. Well done. But in my search I also discovered that instead of using in line resistors like this one can often modify the flasher relay to eliminate the hyper-blink. I would suggest looking into modifying the relay for your particular car instead of putting resistors on all four corners. Good luck.

    • @diodedynamics
      @diodedynamics  Před 9 lety +1

      X Gempler, we also carry flasher modules that will solve any hyperblinking! For many vehicles, flasher modules are built into the vehicle computer, making it impossible to simply swap it out with a modified flasher. For those vehicles, resistors will be the only way to corrent hyper blinking. Feel free to shoot us an email at contact@diodedynamics.com and we can help you determine whether or not resistors or a flasher module is necessary. Thanks!

    • @XGempler
      @XGempler Před 9 lety +2

      Yes, that is true, but it is also the case that many cars have flasher relay modules that can be easily modified to eliminate hyper-flashing without any expense of a new relay, or worse, wiring in resistors. It is best for people to search their favorite car forum for the specifics of their car before wasting money on something they may not need.

    I used 50W, 6ohm load resistors for a 97 grand am and my turn signals work great. For quick install tips:
    1. blue - power, black - ground
    2. back and front load resistors must be installed for one side to work properly. Both sides must be installed before all 4 turn signals are working properly.
    3. back turn signals - yellow - power, black - ground.
    Hope this helps,

    I just install my 1157 LOAD RESISTORS 50w 6OHM. It was real easy. After installing it, I had a bit of a problem. It was still hyper-bliking. I took some steps back and made sure everything was properly connected. I then "Re-Pinch" the "Slice" all the way down )it was half way in). Then it worked like a champ.
    You must pinch the slice all the way down!!! (Flush) for it to work!!!
    Thanks again. DIY video for resistors.

    "Solder if you can", were my exact words. I can (very well) so I did. Cracking is due to a "cold solder", like you said is a poor job. But minimal tools can give a solder joint that will last indefinitely. But like you said, again, you have to know how.

    Just a thought I had while watching this... if you attached your regular bulb in the line under the hood it would have the same effect because the incandescent bulb would give the needed resistance to the standard flasher unit. Of course you would have that bulb flashing on and off under the hood of the car :)

    Since I am leaning toward allowing my LEDs to hyper-flash I did some research. It appears that fast flashing is a good thing. A 1975 study by David V. Post for the National Highway Traffic Safety Admin says "high flash frequencies and minimum flash duration should provide the best conspicuity and smallest response times." Easier to see and gets faster response from the drivers that need see and respond to them. Not trying to sway anyone, just thought it was interesting.

    I just finished completely rewiring my 1948 Willy's Jeep. Upgraded stop, tail and turn lights to LED with new electronic flasher. Installed a turn signal switch by Grote to integrate turn and brake light functions. Charged the battery to 12.6 volts. Now when I test, all systems work fine when operated individually. Also, Brake light works together with either head/tail lights, or when turn lights are on. Problem is, turn lights will not operate when head/tail lights are on at the same time. If the turn signals are on, and I turn on the tail lights, then the turn signals stop. If the tail lights are on, then the turn signals simply will not come on. I have confirmed that each light fixture is wired correctly. The head/tail light circuit is completely separate from the turn and brake light circuits (different fuses and wires). From reading the posts below, the electronic flasher should allow the system to work without wiring in load resistors. Any ideas? Thanks.

    • @diodedynamics
      @diodedynamics  Před 8 lety

      +DAGNUBIT, unfortunately, it's hard to say exactly what the issue is, since the Jeep has been completely rewired. We would recommend making sure that the electronic flasher that you purchased is LED compatible, either an LED compatible flasher or resistors should accomplish the same task. Both are used to simply eliminate hyperblinking. Hope that helps. Good luck with the rest of your build!

  • @passageproductionfilms346

    I spliced my cables however, while splicing, one of the quick connector clips (the clip that goes over the metal piece used to splice) broke and it's only the t-tap without the secure clip. I made sure that the connection was secure and put electrical tape around it so that the connection remains secure, but I'm just wondering if that will last. I'm worried that it will lose connection because of the broken off clip. Thanks!

    Thought I posted a comment, but guess I didn't. Anyways, I installed a 9005 LED bulb and it seems dim and flickers. If I add the resistor, will it end the flicker and increase the brightness?

    thank you very much for your information I will take that in consideration but in the meantime I also found that the tail lights do not come on so I'm wondering if it is a fuse that's the culprit

      +old school, make sure the bulbs you purchased are dual filament bulbs, and have low and high power. Once you confirm that, it could be a fuse issue. Without being familiar with the bulbs you purchased, it is hard to say what the cause is exactly.

    So I installed LED Brake/Blinker lights in my 2017 Grand Cherokee. Inside the car it's hyper blinking but my turn signal outside blinks normal speed. Any idea what this means?

    Thats what they do, resist load! They can get so hot they can light a match! Keep them away from plastic or rubber

    I installed the 6ohm in my dual filament light in my 2011 highlander and it stopped the fast flash when the parking lights were off, but when I turned the parking lights on, the turn signal went back to fast flash. Any thoughts?

    When adding an led strip to your turning signal lights, is there a way to make it so the added led light act as ONLY running lights and not act as a sequence turning signal?

      If you have 3 wires coming out of the turn signal, yes. Or you can hook up a relay so it just turns on when the key goes 'on'
