I listen to dr Jason Fung. I’ve read his book the obesity code. Very much worth reading. He says the body doesn’t use muscles for energy until every little bit of fat from your body has been used. I find talks like this confusing 😮

What most people that report problems with fasting do not do is the Feasting. Dr. Fung discusses this at length. We basically need to eat a lot after fasting. By a lot this is fat and protein. Most will avoid eating fat do to fear and conditioning that they will regain body fat.
Fasting is probably more to do with healing your body fat than weight loss. Body fat produces hormones. Weight loss comes from a correct balance of hormones. Eating animal fat produces our hormones.
Probably target 80-85% fat and eat as much as you comfortably can.

Life is confuse and reality usually brings contradictory truths. What we think is logical is not the actual reality mechanics.

I am running a highly nutritious carnivore diet with solid amount of protein/fat for my needs. I plan to try 3 36 hour fast a month and one 72 hour fast. Will feast 2 days before 72 hour fast. Will also feast 2 days after to replenish. Hopefully my body can handle the load.

Would our cravings indicate whether or not protein vs fat is needed? How do we know whether to raise protein or fat?

This is very interesting. How did Mr. Berbieri survive his year long fast with no protein? And how does strenuous effort effect the heart problems? I hope for another lecture on this subject.

Interpreting from what Amber said, his energy needs did not exceed the rate at which his body was able to convert endogenous fat. This likely depended upon good reserves of the necessary essentials and sufficient supplementation. His genetics and starting metabolic health parameters must have also been favourable. It's always suggested that he got away with it: that doesn't necessarily apply to anyone else.
Strenuous effort would probably be unwise if it drove the need for energy beyond what can be met through converting fat, since then it would be required to breakdown muscle, some of which is likely to be heart.

Has anyone experienced gout like issues after 3 weeks of water fasting? My ankle swole up like I jumped off a roof.. My first 24 day fast.. The 2nd 24 day fast.. My toe swole up like I kicked a wall...

I had a difficult time actually doing a moderate protein way of eating. Was always tired. Did a lot of fat and < 20 grams carbs with 50-60 grams protein. Could do it for a few months. Then had to increase to 70 grams per day.

Could that be the reason why most carb eaters or not moving properly people r losing their muscles before or at the same time with fat… ? Might that be something about insulin? That there fat stores can’t be used when they r still eating sugar all the time?
Cos when u r really in ketosis, it seems like u r mostly losing your fat until u r damn lean, but not losing a lot of muscle… ❤
