the original feels like he’s desperately trying to pry open the jaw piece, but the plus version feels like he’s just posing.
right they definetely nailed improving the model but it doesn't have the same eery sense of desperation from scotts ver as well as the harsh lighting making the darkest parts of the shadows complimenting that he's surrounded in darkness
Looks like he is just opening the jaw and the mask for us to see his face. Meanwhile OG makes it look like he is trying to remove it, but he can't. Also, the lack of action the Plus have is annoying, an amateur job in my opinion

Lighting plays a big role here, while the fnaf + looks more realistic, the lighting makes it look like a resident evil character. The OG springtrap looks more unerving and disturbing, because how the light is positioned. And also the corpse's face in the OG is half-visible, which gives you the 'Wait, wtf is this... Oh no' reaction, when you see this for the first time.
Well the lighting can be changed so it has both qualities
both are good but as an artist, the top one looks a bit more anatomically accurate when it comes to a human head. although i gotta say realism has NEVER been a lingering aspect in fnaf hes been “killed” like a billion times for gods sake 😭

i think the only thing i would change is springtrap plus's eyes. in the lore, when you get springtrapped the eyes of the animatronic get shot through ur skull, replacing your eyes. the og one captures that, which is why the eyes are so large and cartoony. to back this you can see that the eyes glow, which is a sign they have electronics in them.

The OG is red and raw, while the PLUS version is more decomposed and discoloured.

I think in FNaF 3 Plus the Springtrap seems dried like a mummy. In og FNaF 3 he is wet and rotting like a corpse that was left in an abandoned basement or st like that
The lighting in the original with the dimmed out dark pink with the bronzy color is what makes it so creepy and cool at the same time
most definitely has to do almost entirely with lighting, despite the better modeling the new one fails to compete with the ominous and terrifying presence of the original. It’s almost like the new one reveals too much of the picture while the old one is very minimal in how much of spring traps internals are exposed
there's something so strange and surreal about how Scott does visuals for the fnaf series, specifically the older ones, they emit something i've never felt before when looking at a picture
I think the lack of lighting effects makes the plus image look too real, and too easily identifiable as human. The point of Springtraps aesthetic in the OG game (at least in my opinion) was the uncanny valley and shock factor. The new images are super cool and all, but looking at it you get the feel of "It's just a dude trapped in a suit." The original Springtrap images are something else. You feel as though what you are looking at isn't a human in a suit, he IS a part of the suit. So close to human, yet not quite right. That's what I feel these new images lack the ability to capture.

A psychopath, unnervingly friendly as he kills you. It doesn't fit with the jumpscare sound, but it sure does with the character and his nature.

I feel like the og one is more stiff than others is because its a springlock suit to the point to he has to stay stiff to move wherever he wants (srry if i didnt explain it well enough but idk how else to describe it)

The original is better imo. While it is not scary, it makes more lore sense. Unlike the other animatronics, who are possessed by the angry and confused spirits of children, Springtrap is William Afton. He’s calm, cool, collected. It makes more sense for him to slowly approach you instead of lunging mindlessly at you like the other animatronics. The FNaF + version essentially casts that out the window, it doesnt make sense for William to act like that. Not to mention the FNaF + version has him moving far to freely; he was springlocked and has practically fused with the endoskeleton, along with having the springlocks themselves hooked in his skin, it would make more sense for his movement to be stiff.
Well the big eyes in og make sense because when Afton was springlocked the animatronic's eyes were stuffed into his eye sockets.

Another example of what OG Springtrap got right are the huge animatronic eyes that slammed themselves into Afton's eyesockets. In plus, they look like his eyes and not the suit's.

@@megaraptoranot exactly, it's more like his eyes are just squished into goop because with the spring lock exo suit, it shoves a pair of animatronic eyes into place because the original animatronics most likely lacked the quality that the new gen endos have. So in his spring lock failure, not only was nearly ever bone in his body broken, his lungs pierced (personally prefer no piercings, really not my style macho man.), and his skin pretty much flayed off of him, he also had his eyeballs turned into mashed potatoes, Afton home cooked style. Smells good.

I like the texture the "Spring Plus" has , it looks like soft fabric material that's rotten and dried out , it's almost like you can smell it, and he has smaller eyes
I've always thought the eyes on "OG SpringTrap" were so massive and goofy for some reason.
But OG SpringTrap has a special place on my heart

It does make sense but considering the fact eyes have veins & blood on it and suit really didn't have any eyes since it was on a mascot mode without it's endo, it makes me believe those are real eyes

Update: Now i think about it, it makes sense for it to be costumes eyes that got jammed into his skull
especially thinking about the fact animatronics eyes are connected to endo so when some worker wears the costume, they must have animatronic eyes because otherwise it would look scary and like something's missing
Also many animations of SpringLock failure suppors the same theory which makes it pretty believable.

The OG is a lot more visceral, especially in the rare scenes where he's pulling off his mask. It looks less like screaming, and more like that by trying to pry off the mask, he's prying off his own skull and jaw still attached.

Scott couldn't model a normal looking human face if he was held at gunpoint but he was a literal master at lighting and colour to nail the rotten, mossy, green, pulsating yet rotting corpse of william afton and the model of springtrap to the point even william's goofy stupid skinless face inside was actually able to look terrifying and alive (we dont talk about peanut afton, i can literally take 1 look at the model and tell how rushed it was)
Would it surprise you to find out that the latter was actually made to fit the proportions of a regular human?

The og has stronger light and shadows, more is hidden which I think looks better.
Example: on the first image, notice how the right side of the face basically just disappears into the darkness on the og? That’s not there on the remake.
The og looks like a phantom appearing out of the shadows, the remake looks like a dude standing in some slightly dim lighting (now in higher fidelity!).
The thing that I got out of this is that damn, Scott really knew how to use his lights and shadows to really enhance the horror in his renders.
Jesus both Springtraps are as equally as menacing!!

The jumpscare for plus was definitely top tier. I think the rare screen lost in how the model was lighted; the lighting/shadow in the og was very well done in that it sold the idea that springtrap had been confined in a dark room long enough, while in plus it just looks like an Arkham Knight death screen

Ive never seen anyone capture the same feel as Scott, the outdated feeling graphics really add to Fnaf’s creepy nostalgic horror
Everything about plus is perfect I do prefer the lighting in the shots of original springtrap though
I think what does it for the OG is how good the lighting is.
Fixed the jumscare but I honestly like the original way more. The goofy wide eyes expresses the sheer pain that William was trapped in for all those years. Remember, during fnaf 3 Cassidy wasn't keeping William alive through UCN. At that point he's just a guy who should be dead but isn't.
I wouldn't say fix, yeah, the og jumpscare is somewhat lackluster, but it adds to the character. Other animatronics in past games were either complete machines aggresively following a programing, or children trapped in a seemengly eternal torture, so you understand that they are aggressive and quite literally jump at you to attack. But Springtrap is not that, take all his poses and AI behaviors, they reflect someone more focused and methodical. It gives a feeling of him knowing you are completely defenseless, letting him take his sweet time to get to you.

I like them both! But the bottom one with the silly HUGE eyes is my favorite. It's because the mascot eyes were forced back through his skull 😅. The top one is AMAZING though. It really gives gross, moldy, decaying vibes 🎉🎉

I can agree that it's a blob trying to resemble a human but I feel like that's what makes it unique and horrifying once was a human but now is a mangled, snapped, burned, rotting corpse it was still able to be a haunting image showing us a monster trying to escape old smelly, decaying suit while it doesn't capture how a use to be human body should look like I believe still played it part well enough to freak people out (but I don't blame people who would prefer fnaf 3 plus version it's got a lot more detail in comparison to the original, to each their own)
PLUS looks so good, looks a lot more like a corpse that's been trapped in that suit for 20-ish years.

One thing to make FNAF Plus’s take better: make it darker. We can see every detail on Springtrap, while in the original he’s more shrouded in shadows, making him more menacing.

I think its the lighting that sells it. Plus springtrap looks gorgeous but its missing the harsh contrasting light and dark that gives the og such an unsettling feel

The spring lock was a truly brutal event.
Fnaf og is scariest because of the amount of detail in the animatronic suit and knowing that a child murderer is stuck in his own creation.

Much love to both versions of springtrap! The add on for the newer springtrap is so creepy and freaky looking, but the OG look for him is horrifying to look at since he has the springlock body stabbed into his body. Love both designs!
