- A family of taekwondo instructors were able to save a woman from an attack in the Cypress area on Tuesday, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Gonzalez said instructors from the Yong-In Tae Kwon Do dojo sprung into action when they heard some commotion going on next door.
Simon An, 20, told KHOU 11 News that he was grateful his family's martial arts skills could help.
"You wouldn’t really expect it in an everyday situation, but when the time comes, it’s very valuable," Simon An said.

Do not let the suspect escape from the court house, and do not allow the judge to let him back out on the streets = no bond!
My nephew is student at this taekwondo facility. Master Hans family is a great family. ❤
This is AWESOME! What a FABULOUS FAMILY to help the poor woman! Thank you so much for helping her!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
What, no horrible comments about immigrants? Where are the trolls?
@bukka6697 It looks like one such scumbag posted its "usual suspects" spiel about an hour before your observation-getting duly challenged an hour ago
@@bukka6697there are some immigrants that are respectful, while keeping their own cultures, and choose to be productive instead of a pariah. Like my immigrant family one generation ago from Syria and Morocco and sub Saharan Africa. Others should just stay where they are at. And don’t call me racist, I have more race get out of free jail cards than most! 🤷🏾♂️
@@Bobo-uh1bx Well, I'm an immigrant too, and now a citizen. I have to tell you, the xenophobia that saturates CZcams these days disgusts me. Lots of lowlifes think they are better than people from other parts of the world and are willing to watch this country burn before they admit their hatred is purely race based.

The grandmaster was in there like a flash. May we please call him Grandmaster Flash now? Love that they all worked together to ensure the woman was safe!
Or we could call him his actual name...and keep it about him, and since there is a Grandmaster Flash, that would be more confusing.
@@ericdwhitmorec Or we could do like you did in your other comment and equate them to the Power Rangers…which is somehow acceptable and is “keeping it about him”. 🤪😜🤪Lighten up, my friend. 😘 I was only being facetious in my original comment anyway.

lesson of the day: NEVER COMMIT A CRIME NEAR A DOJO
What a wonderful family for stepping up and helping. Thank you!
AMEN THAT THIS FAMILY WAS NEAR TO COME TO THE WOMANS RESCUE!
Not anybody can do it.. I have seen a lot muscle dudes stand around and do nothing in other situation. Great job guys!!
Excellent job!!!! Thank you for caring enough to get involved!!
There is still some light that shines in our city, and these amazing people are apart of that light. Thank you so much.
Heroes, Warriors, Angels. LOVE. Healing Light, Prayers and LOVE to the Victim.
What a great family! Thank you for coming to help the poor lady!
Dojo is training facility for Karate(Japanese) and Dojang is a training facility for TKD(Korean) .
dojang, dōjō, wuguan, võ đường, akhara, gelanggang, sansaran, heya, kalari, etc. it's all just martial arts training halls. Japan does have specific dōjōs for stuff like aiki-dō, jū-dō, karate-dō, etc. But in Japan, they consider ANY place of physical training (like an MMA gym) as a dōjō. So if they are going off of Japanese terminology, a dojang is just another type of dojo.
@@zapikachu TKD is a Korean martial art, so it doesn't matter what the Japanese call TKD training facility in Japan. The heroes in this story are Korean so it's more appropriate to use the proper word for TKD training facility which is dojang.
And everyone thought those TKD classes were a waste of time and money. You sure showed us though.
@@zapikachu Didn't know US is part of Japan.
Reading these comments is uplifting. Thank you for spreading love!
What idiot commits a crime next to a martial arts studio?! Big thanks to the Tae kwon do family!💖✊💖
the Martial arts version of Rooftop Koreans May God bless this family
THE KIND OF NEWS I WANNA HEAR EVERYDAY.... BLESS THE FAMILY/TEAM!!
Extremely impressive, solid family team!
Thoughtful solid reporting. ✅
I love this act of compassion and action! Glad you were able to hold this perp accountable. Well… if the court system works.
That's definitely a family you don't want to mess with. Kudos to that family for saving that woman from that monster.
Korean training hall is called dojang not dojo
Buddy i doubt "asian knowledge 101" is pretty high in texan news agencies
@jessicaregina1956 It may not just be Texas. In 2010, we had a movie titled "The Karate Kid" whose domain was, as anyone who'd heard of Jackie Chan knew, wushu ("kung fu").
I seriously thought everyone got "which system is which" straight by the mid-Nineties.
@samspade1841 "Helping folks get the various combat systems straight" may have been a point of series like "Human Weapon" and "Fight Quest".
Dojo is basically a loanword at this point. Like honcho, futon, karaoke, etc.
@@floydjohnson7888 Because Will Smith wanted to make his kid a star and insisted on giving his son's movie name recognition. Pretty aggravating.
It's Dojang.
He tried
This is so great! Awesome family and wonderful to see people intervening. Cheers to this family.
please promote this family business!! 🌟 i hope you heal quickly Master Han!
What a feel good story , one that really made me smile . Especially the Grandmaster . I went to graduate school in Houston late 90’s . And it’s vibrant Asian community is top notch. Gained my love of Vietnamese food there..
Never assault someone outside of a martial arts studio, lol.
Not all heroes wear capes. This is a fantastic story! Thank you for helping!
This family is a pillar of the community! Real life heroes in the flesh!
Ive been following KHOU 11 for a while. I'm not a US citizen, yet your news is fascinating.
Talk about a terrific rescue!❤️👏
Talific
And people say Tae Kwon Do is useless 🤦🏻♂️
Amazing story! Amazing family!
That dad and the brothers ESPECIALLY....HEROES!!! No matter the training, you never know what weapons they may have on them, but they handled business anyway, to the Frontline/highest danger.
These are the types of stories I wish made the news more often. Amen 🙌🙌🙌
I'm so sorry for the survivor of that vicious attack. I send positive thoughts to her as she recovers in every way.
This family are expert fighters in their field!
So glad the young man was paying attention & has the right thinking to help someone.
Mr Ahn, I hope his injuries aren't too bad & he recovers. He really is a hero!
The women were very thoughtful & kind to care for the lady until first responders arrived.
The whole family were able to do it all - call for help, stop the attack & subdue the violent offender, remove the survivor from the scene.
These are the kind of people you want to live and work next to. Good people.
I hope lots of young people hear about this story and maybe give Taekwondo a chance. Its a very good martial art with many personal benefits.
Anyone would be lucky & honored to learn and train with this family.
Be well.
You all deserve all the best of life to be compassionate and humble.
im in tears. its so important for people to step in and help. and most people would ignore a cry for help from a woman. not everyone is exceptional! but a whole family led by dad! this is an exceptional
heroic family each and everyone!
always look out and be a helper! you never know who you may be saving! bravo!
Gamsahamnida!
They "stopped a woman from SA"?
Yeaaa that should have been worded differently
lol , i read that and was soo confused ..
Definitely misleading. Like someone saying…”one morning while on African safari I shot an elephant in my pajamas”
Perhaps Alex Robinson identified as a woman when taken into custody b/c Alex Robinson is def bout to become somebody's beeyatch.
Heroes exist.
Hell yes about time people looking out for other people
Why isn't there a picture of the suspect?
Because that would be racist! 😂
Most of us have an accurate image of what he looks like even without seeing his photo, especially with a name like "Alex Robinson".
Google it. He's melanated
Because he's a protected race.
@krnpowr He's black. Nice try.
glad they were around, what is wrong with the youth today, when I was his age gas just went over a dollar a gallon and that was my biggest concern at that time when I was going to school...
God bless Korean Americans!
Powerful family 💗 to the rescue!
GREAT PEOPLE❤❤❤
Grandmaster An looks like a very tough man!
Great job guys. Go Tae Kwon do! !
There are definitely perks in having self-defense skill sets.
Sounds like they were in time to stop the actual crime but at least they were able to detain the usual suspect. Good job!
What do you mean?
If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. Take it anyway you want it 🤨
@@cameronbell895 I believe the poster meant they were NOT there in time to stop the SA.
I know Grandmaster Ahn personally for 30 years and his very honorable person.
🥋 I was in taekwondo its great to see your progress and others around you and what they have to offer and what they learned i would say i was a Green belt before the place got shut down!
What a touching story! Bravo to Brave family!

And it's usually not from a certain community.
Martial Arts is a wonderful lifestyle, it’s a sacrifice but it is very rewarding. Thanks for helping. 👍🥋🥊💪🙏🏼😎✌️
감사합니다 Thank you Master Han family ❤
“Thanks for capturing the suspect for us! Oh btw we already released him, so you might run into him again”
Good publicity for their business, a big reason a lot of people learn martial arts is for self-defense. Glad they jumped in to help.
I can almost hear final boss music playing as I imagine the Taekwondo instructors taking on the suspect.
Good thing the criminal wasn't armed or this story could've been very different.
Maybe so, probably not. It's not as if the perpetrator was lying in wait for the martial artists from next door - he was busy sexually assaulting. Being armed wouldn't have helped that kid one bit unless he had advance warning that a group of black belts were coming in to take care of him.
Hero's indeed
I have believed for decades that school districts should offer martial arts in PE. The Martial Arts are a perfect exercise for the mind, as well as the body. It would also teach children how to defend themselves without weapons. How many kids carry guns? They all have their hands, arms, legs, and body weight. These people should be employed by every school district in texas.
Great family!
Family of heroes ❤❤❤❤❤
Well, that’s some poor decision making by the perp!
🎉 America needs these types of heroes! STARS for sure Tae Kwon do is great me n all my boys took classes great self defense
Great Story! 💜
Awesome family ❤

Happy story I pray for woman
So, Martial art really works when needed!

they also stopped a riot in los angeles in the 90s. Korea number ONE!!!
The Power Rangers prophecy has come true, a family of martial artists who saved the day. The Zeo prophecy has come true
yep heroes. thankfully they went to help rescue the assault victim & and detain attacker!

Tae Kwon Do trainees tend to become good law abiding citizens and overachievers in whatever profession they choose. A large number of Tae Kwon Do students also go on to attend Ivy League universities.

Anybody can do it but they won’t
Tae, Tay, like Taylor, not Thai!
Did they use Tackle and Grapple?
That family's lucky it didn't happen in California. They would have gotten charged, and the rapist would have been released to commit another crime.
Everyone fights. No one quits. :-)
🙏🏼
So this woman was being attacked in broad daylight in a cricket wireless store. Is nowhere safe? It’s sad to think that being attacked like this was common place not too long ago. Bless this family for their actions. Bless the woman, may she find healing after this heinous act. And as for the evil man may he be put in prison and atone for his sin.
Great PR for the business.
1:19 she wasn't reading from a script at all
Plus, we don’t even know what the attacker looks like! I guess he gets protection!
@@mattdaugherty7865 "Alex Robinson" was his name. We can only surmise.
Way to go and as a suggestion maybe more women and men could take some type of martial arts defensive course, especially since crime has now skyrocketed because of the out of control border. Regards, Denis Berte' USMC
Let's see a photo of Alex Robinson...
Everybody was kung fu 🥋 fighting… those kicks were fast as lightning 😂😂😂
Imagine talking about a KOREAN MARTIAL ARTS spot and calling it a "dojo", which is for Japanese martial arts. How embarrassing - it's called "dojang" for Taekwondo.
Thankful to have caring people like the instructors, though.
Buddy, your lucky they didnt call it brazilian jiu jitsu.
Imagine calling it THAI Kwon Do repeatedly throughout the report.
Martial arts are excellent for self-development.
Didn’t show the guy at all. Smh
