- Tanya Tucker performs "Texas When I Die" live at the Farm Aid concert in Champaign, Illinois on September 22, 1985. Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

Farm Aid's performances are donated by the artists in order to raise funds and raise awareness for family farmers. They've raised their voices to help - what can you do? - Hudba
Hoyt Axton singing backup is greatness on top of the greatness that is Tanya Tucker!
Lol! I just noticed a couple minutes ago.
her happiness is so contagious, I always watch this when I'm feeling down and it always makes me happy
considering this was about 10:00am, the wind and rain, and Tanya is still out there "bringing it"- really great performance
In 1981 We had a jukebox in the basement of an old German hospital that the Army used as a temporary barracks, and the only song on it was this song, needless to say we all had that song memorized in a week and it still stirs up good memories.
Have LeAnn Times and Tanya Tucker ever sang a duet together? Both of them have a unique voice.
Back before the internet when stars had real talent and were not over exposed !!
She just exudes star quality. I think Tanya is a greater talent than she's been given credit for in later days.
That is for sure.
Yep.
Texas here since 1972. I was spending the summer of 85 in somewhat nearby Vandalia (the land of my birth, my kin and my early years). I would've loooooved to have been there at Farm Aid. But alas, I was but 17 and working a summer-long nanny gig to save for a car. Fortunately, I was able to watch pieces of the concert on TV. Anyhoo, when I stumbled upon this version of the song, which delights me already, I was even more excited at her Illinois shout-out. It's like this video was out there waiting for me to stumble upon it. Thanks, y'all!

She's the needle in a haystack, but boy, she stands out!
Tanya - they broke the mold. You are a legend and we love you. A real original COUNTRY artist. None of this bull**** they are singing today except for a few like Allan Jackson etc.

To think it’s been 38 years. And she is still as beautiful and wonderful as she was then.

Is that Hoyt Axton singing behind her?
yes
Sure is, great songwriter and musician. The pusher one of my favorites.
Yes!! And the fiddle player is my dad Dennis Fetchet who was in Hoyt’s band before I was born.

einfach nur Geil
While this may not be the best recording, too much base, and such, this is an excellent example of showmanship, talent, and "the show must go on" type attitude. It drips more talent on these people's fingertips, then some of the current singers and bands have in their whole bodies.
In fact, watching this, makes a complete mockery of shows like: "The Voice," and "America's Next Idol" (not sure I got that title right.) These people can sing--when you have NO way to over correct acoustics, or fix the weather, and the person, Tanya Tucker, can easily alter her lyrics to accommodate whatever audience she is performing for at the time.
When I was younger and learning to sing, I would play her albums and sing to her and taught myself to sing harmony parts to her songs. In affect she and other greats of her generation were my vocal coaches. (I am thinking of Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, and Tammy Wynette) These were the true ladies of Country Music. Today's Country music sounds like soft rock and roll music and more like the old Popular Music of the 70's and 80's. I want THIS kind of music when I want to hear Country.
I quit listening to the radio in 1993. Not enough real country music anymore. Thanks for posting Tanya's music YOU made my day!!! Blessings to you. Michelle from Oregon
Thank you. You put that so much better than I could. I wish you could have been with me when I met her the first time (she was 13) and performing in a nightclub in Monroe, Louisiana.
A star and a professional . Loretta , Dolly & Tammy did Hillbilly Heaven , they included Tanya in their listing of country greats . Should be a good enough recommendation for the hall of fame , don't ya think ?
Aint nobody's heart in Illinois
She's definitely better looking than Chad Morgan!😆🐂🏜️
I don't know how that (was an error) got in there, do U?
