      Hello from Arizona, US! It depends on how many colors of your you'll be using for your cushion. Have you watched my other Tapestry Crochet videos? This one is for working Tapestry Crochet in rows without cutting the thread: czcams.com/video/BlJf_p3ek58/video.html. This one takes that technique a little further and works every other row backwards so all the stitches face the front, making the stitches more defined: czcams.com/video/wF8zdIem0Es/video.html.
      I hope you find the technique that will work the best for your cushion project! Happy crocheting to you!

      You're very welcome! Unfortunately, I don't have a tutorial for using more than 3 colors for Tapestry Crochet. But it's totally something that you could do. The only downside would be working over a lot of extra strands. Intarsia crochet would probably work better for more colors. I don't have a video on that technique yet, but it's on my list of videos to make, since I used that technique for my Majestic Butterfly Afghan design. Happy crocheting to you now and always!

    • @TheCrochetArchitect
      @TheCrochetArchitect Před rokem

      Janie,
      If you're wanting to make a Tapestry Crochet piece with a triangle shape in the center with straight edges on the triangle, you might want to try using the backwards technique that I use in this video: czcams.com/video/wF8zdIem0Es/video.html. If you work a Tapestry Crochet piece in the round (like a tube) working in both loops of each stitch, the tapestry shape will lean slightly to the right (for right-handed crocheters) or to the left (for left-handed crocheters). But with the backwards technique for every other row when working Tapestry Crochet in rows, the stitches will line up when worked in both loops instead of leaning. And you'll only have right-side rows facing the right side. You'll never have wrong side rows (and you won't have tails on each row). I hope this does the trick for you!
      Happy crocheting,
      Susan

  • @abrilgenesismachicadovillc7565

      @TheCrochetArchitect Před 3 lety +2

      I'm so glad you like my video and I hope you enjoy doing the Tapestry Crochet technique!
      Great question! To use 4 or more colors, you'd have to carry all of the unused colors across the rows/rounds and work over them. It will give you a thicker product, which can be desirable for some projects. In the Colourful Wayuu Bags book (see the link in this video description), the designer uses 4-5 colors in the rounds and works over the unused 3-4 colors, changing colors as needed around. This gives her colorful Tapestry Crochet wayuu bags a good thickness and sturdiness that is great for the bags!

    • @TheCrochetArchitect
      @TheCrochetArchitect Před 2 lety

      If you're working Tapestry Crochet in rows, you have to fasten off at the end of every row (or learn to work your stitches backwards on the wrong side rows). If you're working Tapestry Crochet in the round, then you can keep going with the next round without fastening off at the end of each round, since all of the rounds are worked on the right side.

    I love your teaching style! I am enjoying the tapestry technique, but I am bothered by the unclean look of the design when you are coming from the right to left and the color change moves over the main color to the left.... In your pattern, where one white stitch extends over the blue. By doing it in the back loop only, the darker front stitch is so obvious, and leaves a jagged look to the design. Is there a way to do tapestry that does not leave that contrasting front loop so obvious?

    • @TheCrochetArchitect
      @TheCrochetArchitect Před 2 lety

      Thanks, Sherry! The reason that Tapestry Crochet is usually done in the back loop only is to keep the crochet piece from leaning to the right (or to the left if left-handed). When you only work sc into the back loop, the stitches are more able to line up directly on top of each other. But if you work sc in both loops, the stitches tend not to line up directly over each other, but skew to the right (or left if left-handed). I know what you're talking about with the lines of the snowflake not looking as neat when the diagonal line of the snowflake goes up to the left. Unfortunately, I can't think of another way to do it without that obvious jagged line. But if I find a way to eliminate that, I'll definitely let you know! Actually, if the same snowflake chart was used to crochet a coaster in the Tunisian Crochet technique (with color changes), it might possibly eliminate the jagged lines! It's worth a try!

    • @TheCrochetArchitect
      @TheCrochetArchitect Před 2 lety

      Sherry, I just saw a crochet piece worked with the center sc. I think that technique might work great to eliminate the jagged edges in Tapestry Crochet! I'll have to give it a try. I'll let you know how it works out.

      With this style of Tapestry Crochet, you'll have tails on each row. However, you can work Tapestry Crochet in turned rows, as well (one right-side row, followed by one wrong-side rows). I made a video for this style of Tapestry Crochet. You can watch it here: czcams.com/video/BlJf_p3ek58/video.html. You can also work the wrong-side rows with backwards stitches so all the stitches face the right side. That video is here: czcams.com/video/wF8zdIem0Es/video.html.
      Happy Tapestry Crocheting to you Sandy!

    Do you have to drop the row each time when it is finished or can you chain one and start the next row I haven't done tapestry crochet I'm pretty new and have only made scarves and blankets

    • @TheCrochetArchitect
      @TheCrochetArchitect Před 2 lety

      If you're working Tapestry Crochet in the round instead of in rows, then you don't have to drop the colors at the end of each round. You'd just bring both colors up to the next row and use them again. However, if you're working in rows (all right side rows), you'd have to finish off at the end of each row and start again at the beginning of the next row. There might be a way to turn and work from the wrong side, though. I'll have to give that a try and make a video on it, if it works!

      @@TheCrochetArchitect follow up question does it have to be single crochet or can it be half double or double aswell

    • @TheCrochetArchitect
      @TheCrochetArchitect Před 2 lety

      I'm sorry that I didn't reply sooner. For some reason, CZcams held a lot of comments on my channel for 2-4 weeks and didn't inform me about them! I've never seen Tapestry Crochet done with half double crochet or double crochet stitches. It's always done with single crochet stitches. It makes a nice, dense fabric with the sc.

    Can we do tapestry in cotton yarn???

    • @TheCrochetArchitect
      @TheCrochetArchitect Před 3 lety

      Yes we can! The yarn I used for the coasters in this video is cotton. And Tapestry Crochet bags are made with cotton yarn, too.

    Добрий день! Я з України. Не розумію, що Ви кажете, проте дивлюся відео і все зрозуміло. Тому буду дивитися Ваші відео не тільки для натхнення, але й для вивчення мови💪 Успіхів у розвитку каналу!!!

      Good day to you, too! I'm so glad that you can understand what I'm doing just by watching my video. Do you know about closed captions on videos? I have closed captions turned on for my videos. You can have CZcams (or Google) automatically translate what I'm saying into Ukrainian so you can understand more of what I'm saying while I demonstrate. But I like the fact that you can learn more English while watching my videos, too! Happy crocheting to you! By the way, I used Google translate to find out what your comment said. I don't speak a word of Ukrainian!
      Добрий день і вам! Я дуже радий, що ви можете зрозуміти, що я роблю, просто подивившись моє відео. Чи знаєте ви про закриті субтитри у відео? Я ввімкнув субтитри для моїх відео. Ви можете зробити так, щоб CZcams (або Google) автоматично перекладав те, що я говорю, українською, щоб ви могли краще зрозуміти те, що я говорю, поки я демонструю. Але мені подобається той факт, що ви можете вивчати більше англійської мови, дивлячись мої відео! Вдалого вам в'язання гачком! До речі, я скористався перекладачем Google, щоб дізнатися, що сказано у вашому коментарі. Я не розмовляю ні слова українською!

    Now I wonder how I could incorporate this into a sweater

    • @TheCrochetArchitect
      @TheCrochetArchitect Před 3 lety +2

      You can definitely incorporate the Tapestry Crochet technique and this snowflake design into a sweater. The knit sweater that's behind me in the video was my inspiration for designing my "Stained Glass Snowflake Scarf" pattern and my "It Takes All Colors Snowflakes Afghan" pattern. I showed photos of these 2 designs in the video and included links to these 2 patterns in the video, as well. Since my inspiration sweater was knit (most likely on a knitting machine), I don't see any reason why you couldn't crochet a sweater with snowflakes all over it or just a stripe of snowflakes somewhere on the sweater (like around the chest). I hope you have fun with your Tapestry Crochet projects!

      @@TheCrochetArchitect thank you for the long and detailed reply! Just a quick tip, there's not many videos on using tapestry crochet to make clothes. Would recommend if you have the time and or energy for it. :)

      Thanks so much for the recommendation. I'll consider it, but I have so many videos on my list to make, it may be a long time before I get around to making a video like this!
