- It’s a question I get asked a lot! Here is a sneak peak into the tools I use to get the shots and why I picked them. Enjoy!

The best video on bags, ever! Ralph Gibson used a Leica-M with normal lens for decades! No need for bags! I carry my Leica-M with 50mm or 35mm. A spare roll only occasionally! It's a load off your neck! I'm 80, so being a porter of huge bags, out of question. Being Lazy, never did, except on large paying shoots! Bravo Alan!
The most entertaining “what’s in my bag” video on CZcams ever. Nobody will beat this🤣🤣🤣.
Mary Poppin's magic bag effect! Very clever! Great video!!!! Thanks for keeping photography fun and altruistic!
The BBC needs you on network! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 These videos are informative and SO MUCH FUN!! Brilliant!
Alan where did you go? We want more please!!
Thank you Alan , I love your videos and I'm learning so much!!
Your humor is brilliant
The first funny Englishman 😅
From Germany with love 😊
Thank you very much for your videos
🙌🏼☺️
And wich camerastrap do you use?
I look towards it in all of his vids!
Your video is as informative as ever *preluxscom*
@@dennisvloedmansartisan and artist silk strap
M11 as the backup! Very interesting 🤔
Can’t afford to have the 11 freeze up on him!
Your setup probably makes more sense than a lot of the other CZcamsrs' "What's In My Camera" videos. A lot of them seem to stack way too many gears for "EDC"
Now in the free market, fashion is the top priority, regardless of authenticity, as long as the fashion trend *preluxscom*
Would love a longer walk with me style video if that's on the cards!? Even if you don't take a single photo lol
More coming up! 🙌🏼
That is a great idea, hope this will make it onto the channel (soon ;)) too
Always a happy day when I see a new video appear, from you in my notifications! Motivational and always humorous 😎
As always entertaining and informative - keep them coming. Thank you
Great work, as usual!
I would love to hear you speak about your approach to travelling/visiting cities.
Like how you structure your days, when you go out to take pictures at day/night, how you prepare those trips (or not), wheather you have certain routines or just go with the flow, etc.
Best wishes
Love the video's Alan... Looks like you have a ton of fun making them. Thanks
refreshing. Thank you Alan.
Well-done! Thanks! I do like the “lens pouch” concept. It keeps the camera at the ready, and the bag lighter in mass/weight.
Sounds effects are to die for!!!
Love it. Genius.
Great video and great sense of humor!
Love the closing music. Very Bond-esque.
And not only the music: Alan's raincoat (actually his all appearance) looks very cinematic, like some well-known film noir sequence.
Enjoyment! Excellent mixture of levity and applicability - thank you. And Biz, too. Contentwise, I feel vindicated as for my own choices, except I also carry an extra piece of cloth apart from the lens cloth ... for wiping the body, wiping anything, serving as a substitute mini tripod, ...
That's a tidy set up and so compact, I love the Leica case, that a awesome pressie! 📷😍🤟
I laughed way too hard. Thank you, Alan! Also: I love your clothing style. Pulling it off ever so effortlessly ✌🏻
Glad you enjoyed ☺️🙏🏼
Wow, you're a real force of perspective! 😊
Great video like the first part very funny, thanks for sharing.
So entertaining! Love how the asparagus came into screen😂
😂🙌🏼
OMG LMAO!!!
So good mate!
Can’t wait for a humorous walk and talk with you doing street photography!
This is how you share what's in your bag. ❤
Funny as always 😂, what helped me most was 'how' you carry your gear.
I have a small Roots Flannel series shoulder bag. It can hold my camera (since I use OM-D micro 4/3 cameras) but it will mostly be used as what used to be called a gadget bag, to hold lenses and accessories. As a subscriber I look forward to your videos.
Thanks for a fun and informative video! And I learned a new word, or abbreviation - GAS!!!!
It’s hilarious 😊 Thank you for another great video.
Glad you enjoyed it ☺️
Nice bags. The japanese Leica Box💥.
Funny to see the video.
Great style.
I use a smaller fashion bag now. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks for the beautiful entertainment.
Food for thought
I've gone back to photography as a hobby after a 20 year break and after 8 months settled on a similar setup. I have a 'big' bag that stays at home and has whichever of the X-E4 or X-M1 I am NOT taking out in it, along with a couple of lenses I am NOT taking with me. Then I have my camera/lens and second lens in a much smaller pouch type bag, but mostly the camera will be in my hand. For example I'll take the X-E4 with the 18mm on it and the 15-45mm zoom or I'll take the X-M1 with the TTArtisans 27mm, and the 15-45mm zoom. The pouch has the spare batteries and lens cloth in it. Occasionally I'll put my 35mm f2 in a pocket if I know there are some portrait opportunities on the walk.
Thank you for another cool video 😄
The best far from the best thank you very very much for sharing very big respect from Symi island 🏝️ Greece
thanks Alan, very intertaining :) would love to hear more about your selection of lenses and which one you like the most and why :)
Fun and creative Dude.
A lens bag, not a camera bag. After running into you on the tube, I took to heart the question "where's your camera". Solid point and slightly embarrassing movement for me. For the remaining two weeks of my UK trip, my camera never saw the inside of my bag until we were back in our lodging for the night. Thanks for the subtle lesson. Running into you to start the trip was definitely a positive.
Love you British humor!!
Love the Prince tune 😎
Thank you for this video !
Thank you ☺️
I carry my M10R + 35 Summicron, 50 Lux and 28 Summaron in a small overwerth bag. Everything fits in nicely. Just love it
which one is it?
I am a big fan of your beautiful black and white work. You make everything look so easy but it is not.😢. Thank you so much. ❤❤❤
I am a big big fan of your work Alan. I really hope someday you will make a course on b&w photography
Very funny. The one thing I was lacking and will start putting into my bag is chewing gum :)
Damn those Bottega Veneta bags are awesome! I also use a bag from Uniqlo that can fit my S5 with the Canon FD 28mm attached on it lol
Great video. Would love to see more of your film work at 3200.
The piss take is a vibe x
Love your content.
❤
Haha, M11 as a backup! But seriously, very clever setup!
Great content...
I use the same Marshall, Alan!
I have a similar approach only with a nore budget flavour -
Inside my camera bag is my trusty kodak instamatic, a packet of chocolate biscuits and some 💩 bags for my small dog max 😊😮
That’s hilarious 😂, the amp was brilliant. It’s a shame Leica don’t sell those carry on bags, they would be very popular.
I'd love to see what specific Bottega bags you use. Thanks for the video!
Whahaha love it!
Another great video! Curious… when you use the 24 and the rangefinder for viewing, do you just use the 28mm frame lines, or do you use an external for viewing? Same for the 16mm on the tri- elmar?
Come here for the vibe and the insights
This was just another "what's in my bag" video....BOOOORING....until I saw that mini suitcase full of Tri-X 😍 I am so jealous right now 😂
Thats great. For me as a German i use a Billingham.🤩🤩👍👍
I’m convinced after watching this that Alan is in fact a spy. The secret gadget glasses are a dead giveaway.
Alan, for me it's all about the weight. I'm older and have advanced Arthritis in my neck and shoulders so weight becomes a lot more important than size. I like the backpack so I take out anything I don't think I will use and try to get the weight under 10 lbs. Of course, that's just Personal preference and it doesn't bother me that you are wrong (haha).
Great setup! I'm trying to use a Cassette as a camera bag but still looking for a decent pancake lens so my A7 can fit. 😂
I love your vidéos.. At least a photo channel where we talk about photo and not gear (except aspargus). Thanks a lot. Cant wait to make a workshop with you in paris if ever you organise one (or London)
Love the content and the unmistakable character. Also shout out for the Issey Miyake.
Cheers! Yes mega shout out to Issey!
That 50 Lux has been out for less than a year and it looks like its seen some days! I assume babying your gear is out of the question 😂
Harry Potter would be proud of you. I like your spex. What is coming next? Perhaps a room tour....?!🤣🤘🤘
Agree!!!
🙏🏼
Great video. I’m intrigued, you don’t seem to own an M6, as they’re so popular, and you’re Mr Leica, I’d expect you to have one in your arsenal. Thanks for the video. Great content as always.
Actually the Leica MP is a modern and refined version of the old M6.
The brand new M6 is basically a Leica MP with a couple of minor tweaks, mainly cosmetics and the big red dot on the front
Awesome videos once again!
What would be your opinion about Leica Q3 as a street photo camera compared to Leica M11 or similar models. Have you used it to walk around streets? Congrats on your videos and fun moments around
Oh my god, you seem to have a magical handbag like Hermione Granger 😂😂😂 Greetings from Germany Gaby
Nice video! - I will add this Macallen 700ml f43 vintage glas to my camera bag as well. So curios about the results ... 😅
You aint street unless you been on Paulie B 😂 keep up the great content.
Any chance we could get a video discussing different focal lengths and their strengths, characteristics, or the thought process behind picking one or another for an outing? I’m “stuck” using an M8 and the crop makes shopping for lenses a bit of a headache so I’ve been back and forth on my first (and only for a while) Leica brand lens purchase
I was waiting for the 12ft ladder
Nice cameras, but please do a video about your lovely looking Les Paul in the back with the Two Rock 😍
If you use a Leica camera, it must be a Billingham bag :) p.s. Greetings, your big fan from Poland
Billingham are too chunky for my liking! Thank you ☺️🙏🏼
Love the minimalistic approach! An odd question perhaps: what is the length of your camera strap? Thinking about ordering one but am afraid I will get a too short one and yours looks perfect 😅
it is an "Artisan & Artist" silk strap - about 120cm
I am Italian, I live in Veneto, 20 km from where Bottega Veneta was born a bunch of years before me. Very high end products: your "Camera Bag Arco media" costs like a good camera with a good lens. Having that budget I would probably get a cheaper bag and focus more on some nice lenses (more important than a good camera in my opinion).
M10M as main and M11M as backup - would love to know the reasoning behind this. Also, how do you protect the camera when it rains?
I like your well used hood
Tnk u Alan.
Bit girlie handbag Alan, but still love your photography. How nice to be able to use cameras enough to get such patena. Some of us have other boring jobs. M11 as a back-up: no M11 Mono yet then ?! (I wonder why Leica stopped making the 24 mm ?)
You put a wiiiiide grin on my face! Greetings & much sympathy from Munich! Wann schaust du mal vorbei, hm?
Have you tried having two cameras with you, each with a lens attached? No other lenses, just those two. One camera in my hand with a wrist strap for safety, and the other in my messenger bag. It’s so nice to be able to switch lenses without taking the lens off and putting the other on. It’s so nice and easy that I find myself taking photos that I wouldn’t if I had to change lenses the old way. Like when I see a potential shot and I would go “oh but then I’d have to change lenses” in the past, now I just switch cameras real quick.
macallan 18, the best!
😂😂 excellent content
Thanks Boumsy!
ASPARAGUS!! 😂😂😂
😂
Hey Alan, when is the next video coming? We is ready to receive it
exactly what I have in my bag apart from the camera equipment
Thank you for the great content. What is your camera strap ? Thks.
it is an "Artisan & Artist" silk strap
Do you trust hotel safes when traveling? Or where do you keep the extra gear that doesn't fit in the pouch?
Thanks again for your hilarious video, I'm happy you do not suffer GAS, within the Leica realm it would broke you 🤣
I had assumed you either didn’t use the Bottega bags for carrying the camera or you were detaching the lenses to store it slimmer.
Not many photographers go out and shoot wearing a Veneta bag and wearing pleats please :)
Love the bag I just need to sell my last kidney for one.
Yes they aren’t cheap but they’re great!
bottega venega are the best !
Does changing whiskey change the style of photos ? 🤔😂
