generalmente in molti casi potrebbe essere la stessa pasta di un ottima marca solo con un altro nome la conda potrebbe pagare la barilla per fare cio.. molti prodotti del marchio del supermercato molto spesso se guardi chi li produce vedi che ha lo stesso nome di dove lo producono... non è sempre cosi ma cerca tu stesso

You Italians might find this interesting: for us Americans who do buy produce fresh and not in a package, we touch it with our hands. We hold it, feel it, put it back if we don't feel satisfied with it's firmness or softness or color...it's a common practice. I know it sounds nasty and it kind of is, but it's how we do it. Same at a fruit and vegetable market, unless the vendor gives it to you themselves, which happens sometimes. But, no gloves. I always wash my hands when I go in at least. I thought the glove thing was very clever by the store. Thing is, we don't have those because fresh produce is not big to most Americans. Americans eat a lot of canned vegetables and frozen vegetables.
Professor B. I think the gloves and plastic bags, no matter how biodegradable they supposedly are, are a waste. Just wash your damn fruit and veg before eating, Italia!
In Italy, the Fruits and Vegetables are always fresh, guaranteed. Italians are the most picky eaters. No need to feel them.
As an Italian who could experience the real American way of life for a pretty long period, the main difference is that you generally sell and eat a huge amount and an impressive variety of snacks, chips, soft drinks and processed food. It's absolutely a big no no no for the average Italian. Once I saw a beautiful blonde American mom with her cute little baby (two years old maybe?) playing inside the shopping cart. She was giving that baby Doritos! I could not simply believe my eyes 😱
For people of Genova pesto is important, so it's sad that you think that pesto by Barilla is good...but we can remedy at this problem very easy. Come to Genova and eat a real pesto!! ;)

Remember to mix the pesto with the pasta boiled water (half glass, but depend from the others quantities) till reach a creamy consistence because ones you will join it with pasta, the pasta will absorb a lot of water (especially if you will finish to cook together. (good pasta will absorb more water). also to avoid to have a too much oily pesto souce.

I am from Milan and you can find amazing produce anywhere, so please refrain from buying Barilla products! Even Esselunga store brand pesto is better than Barilla, plus pesto is the easiest thing to make so you might as well try making your own, the difference is unbelievable! All you really need to do is blend up a bunch of ingredients.
I live abroad and seeing Esselunga made me almost cry. Where I live now food is definitely not as good as that of Italian supermarkets. :(

I go to Esselunga less often and instead I use their online service every week. The delivery cost is high, but I save a lot of time and it's so much easier to see which are the most convenient products because you can see the weight/price ratio under each category. When you're inside the supermarket some promotions are misleading. For example if I buy a 3 liter olive oil bottle I spend €4.66 per liter. While if I choose the 750 ml bottle with 40% discount it costs €8.39 per liter.
I know, Esselunga a casa! Wanted to mention it in the video but forgot. But in any case, this video was to show what products are sold in Italy, like what would the average Italian have to choose from, so I wanted to actually show the supermarket and what's in it :) thanks for watching!
yeah I appreciated the video. I always find it interesting to watch vlogs in Milan made by non-Italians. In the past I've seen only a Spanish woman living in Milan(Saray DesdeMilán) to post a video recorded at Esselunga.

It's full of stuff I would actually eat. Since I've been to Italy, I can't eat the same things. The food I used to eat isn't appealing anymore. Finding Spanish food in Spain was oddly difficult, we keep ending up in Italian restaurants even in Spain. As for France, I still don't know what French food is or what characterizes it. As far as I can tell, it's the unusual offerings of mayonnaise. I expected more. Or at least something anyway. But Italy! Italy certainly didn't disappoint. Don't go to Italy first if you expect to enjoy visiting France.

Here in most supermarkets in the US they don’t provide gloves to touch the produce :/ I love that you can weigh and print out a barcode for produce you get. I know all the codes already but sometimes it’s a pain because the machines are either old or they give you an error (you’ll need an attendant to help).

Just a tip: If you ever come back to Italy try other brands than Barilla 'cause them products are inferior in quality than the supermarket brand (like the Esselunga pasta for example) im not talking about low bughet supermarket thought (esselunga is one of the most expensive one). If you want to try REAL good industrial pasta try DeCecco or Voiello or Garofalo.

Used to live in Italy long time ago and shop mostly at Conad and Ipercoop. Apart the product it would be nice to show the prices as viewers would love to compare it with their own area.

It’s worth to mention that in Italy you have a large variety of sweet snacks “merendine” which normally you can only find in Italy. We have tons of Merendine that we eat at breakfast or during the day - sometimes even at night if you are hungry 😅
