Hi Ram, love your garden! I’ve been a gardener in Athens for about 7 years now for several clients in 5pts, yours is by far the most settled in I have ever seen. Absolutely gorgeous.
Are you and your partner the only ones working in the garden? Do you have any mentors? I know Dr. Armitage seems to be the plant Dr for nearly everyone in town, lol.

Hopefully, more gardeners will follow this sound advice of using rain gardens to keep pollutants out of the waterways. Ram Giberson is an amazing landscape designer and engineer. She should be given an honorary degree from U GA, asked to give talks, etc. If the Disney Corporation finds out, I think they would want her to design landscapes for Disneyland and Disney World. She is so creative. I love all the waterfalls and the mix of plantings, the layering from ground cover up to tall trees. Just amazing. Thank you for showing us several videos of this garden and explaining how the drainage works.

Such a beautiful place! I’m in awe of how they have made it functional and beautiful. Our whole property is a slope but it drains down to our pond. We have areas that want to hold water (thank you heavy clay) which we had to add French drains to over the years. We also just put in a gunite pool into the slope of our backyard which presents new challenges! I’ve had to put a lot of thought into what I think will work and won’t. They placed large boulders on the ends to help taper but I will have to fill some in with river rock myself and add plants. About to start filling the beds around the pool with the plants I’ve collected so far. We are finally getting a good soaking rain this week so I’ve been going outside a couple times a day to see how things are draining and what I may need to work on. So much work 😅
