I had lost the ability to walk up stairs on my own roughly 10 years ago. In order for me to go up or down stairs I need to be “piggybacked”. I’ve used this method for 10 years+. However, in the past few years I’ve noticed it is causing a strain on my shoulders when I’m being carried up or down the stairs. This is the only way I can get up or down a flight of stairs.

It works but can cause discomfort on the shoulders after a few days of this. All the best to you Daniel!

Hey john, i have lgmd2a as well, just curious did you in the earlier onset have problems with your knees jolting backwards on occasion on a step forwards causing you to lose balance? I keep having that happen near my tvs and im scared of falling into one soon! 😂

Hello Andrew. I never had any problems earlier with my knees jolting backwards. What started to be the problem was when I’d step down I’d lose my balance and lean forward. I only had one near fall and that’s when I decided to stop going down steps. I didn’t want to end up breaking something and then I’d be confined to a wheelchair forever, due to my progression now. The fear that you’re feeling is normal and your body’s way of protecting you from injuring yourself. I’ve had those feelings when getting up from the toilet. I hated those dreadful feelings and that made me more nervous. You’ll know when it’s time to stop walking down steps. Good luck to you.

Thank you for watching. I’ll have a video coming out in a week on how I get up from a seated position. Keep an eye out for that.

I mean... the method is effective, but you rely on a strong person and that particular spot looks perfect for installing a handrail and a ramp so you can just walk or use a scooter or wheelchair.

True, however everyone is different and those items may not be available in every space encountered. This method is here to help others without those items.

You should try creatine I've heard it's great for people with MD, Blessed Be.
