Oh my god. That opening and closing doors are amazing! Same with the pantographs. None of the British trains we have in the UK do that. That's AWESOME.
Maybe not, but I do think it is worth mentioning my two British-made Bassett-Lowke Moguls, though. Mostly because they run on live steam, and even have Walschaerts gear.
Agreed!!!
Not anymore! Accurascale's Class 92 has motorized pantographs, and it would still be a feature on the upcoming Class 89!
Chris stop it. Your making me want this model. If it was not for the journal bearings on the trucks and the parts availability dwindling for this model. I would not hesitate to try to get one. The issues on this set do not seem as hard to fix as I was lead to belive. The opening doors are the real draw that makes me still want this set. They will hold their value as you pointed out. Thanks for making my sunday night.
Thanks for watching Roger! The traction tire replacement took a little time but was not terrible. Patience has been the key to operating this set. I would recommend this set!
Cool and 10/10

@Rama5298 I got questions where u do with all those train put In storage or u have huge train yard storage xD
I can’t find this exact one, no matter what. I loved the closing/opening doors, operating pantographs, and more. Where is it?
0:06 I love that sound from the Amtrak Acela express when the doors are about to be close.
One of my favorite features as well. Thanks for watching!
Great video and enjoyed the fun presentation with this set! I’ve ridden in that fine, thin air on the Acela, Germany ICE and Japan’s Bullet trains at 150 mph +. The recent Virtual Rail trip with Executive Rail’s Catalpha Falls clocked at 110 was also a smooth as silk experience for a 1949 rail car!
That is incredible that you had a chance to ride some of the high speed trains in other countries! Must have been a great experience!
@@RBPTrains the cost of all that track for your entire layout must have been quite costly, how many square feet is it ? I'm looking to start my own layout
Dang! I blinked and I missed it! Gotta rewind, give me a minute...
OK. Wow, that's fast all right! Truly an amazing piece of model engineering, but Acela's a bit too "avant-garde" for my taste. I'm a traditionalist, so I took a little sweet satisfaction when you said your 675 is the fastest on your layout. Of course! Steam rules, baby!
No catenary? No biggie, just say it's running on "third rail" power! (Ahem.)
Thanks for being here Chris, you made my Sunday night! Better than anything on the tube right now, let me tell you!
Thanks Wayne! While I run many modern engines on the channel, I find myself relaxing with the Post War and MPC engines more often when I am just enjoying the layout. That 675 is a special one as it was my neighbor's childhood engine. :) Thanks for watching!
@@RBPTrains You're welcome Chris, a pleasure!
Yes, some times even in this high-tech age it's relaxing just to turn a post-war unit loose on the tracks and just let it roll. Amazing how the world's troubles just disappear when those little "time travelers" do their thing, isn't it?
I got quite the chuckle over the third rail power!
I just happened to check out your channel. It’s great to see someone other than myself appreciate the much maligned MPC era products. I think they really are responsible for reviving the Lionel brand by bringing back some desirable items like the GG1s, and producing new ones such as the SP Daylight sets with both diesel and steam engines. And it looks like you’re having a good time with your trains! Keep up the good work!
“Welcome back Folks! Hope you having a great week…” Always makes my day!
I never got into the 3 track train sets but this is awsome
That Acela horn is marvelous 😍
I love your enthusiasm coupled with you stylised way of presenting.
Thank you! I appreciate your support and the trains make it fun!
Oh god. I had chills when the acela extended it's pentograph (I hope I said it right.) Also it's a train from the year 2026, and it's going back to the future!
What a great model, Chris! The most amazing technologically activated trains I've ever seen! Cool does not do justice to this awesome model!
the Genuine excitement whenever you move a train is so good!
That is truly an amazing train packed with some cool technology going back to 2005. Very impressive looking on your layout Chris with the added three car set.
Dude, you are hilarious. Looks like a fun layout you got there. I love the look of the Amtrak lines. Probably the F40PH and SDP40F Phase III are my favorites.
Great picks for your favorites! Thanks for watching, it has been a lot of fun making these videos!
The Acela is really nice, enjoyed seeing all the different Amtrac trains, had never seen them all together, thanks for sharing Chris
Love the Acela, the doors, the pantographs, the whole thing. Also really liked the F unit, well all of it really, but the F unit is eye catching. Great video Chris, and if I start wanting Amtrak equipment I’ll know who to blame!
Nice video, interesting to see trains from the past still running.. Btw in 2005 I had the Acela. Although I never got to see it run a complete trip around my layout. It was exciting to have such a technological toy train
Chris, I can’t tell you how much I have always wanted an Amtrak train set. When I was a kid, I asked for the 1995 set, but it was unfortunately not available in our area and I have always admired the MPC set because like you, I have a thing for that era for some reason.
As always, I enjoyed your break down about the Acela and seeing one Amtrak after another make a cameo was a highlight. I also liked that you gave a demo for quenching the Acela’s thirst which will definitely help some younger hobbyist to listen to their trains.
It’s Christmas time and this is the time of year for trains! I have my Polar Express sitting around the tree and my Santa Fe visiting our Christmas Village! I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year! Happy Holidays Chris!!!
Thanks SAS Entertainment and Happy Holidays to you as well! Sounds like you have a festive setup in your house!
Great video!
Super layout!
Excellent variety of trains! Love the Acela! (On my wishlist)
THAT WAS GREAT ☺️👍 Nice seeing you have a great time also. Having all of them running was fun. 🤗
Another awesome video Chris! Love the fact that you are running a nice variety of different Amtrak trains! My favorite is the GG-1 with the streamline passenger cars. I have the same set that I run on my club’s layout. It is such a great looking set!!!!
Thanks Anthony! That GG1 is so unique and I bet it looks great on your club's layout!
Great to see a man involved with his hobbies.

My favourite video of RBP trains, great video Chris!
I didn’t think this modern train would be that interesting but your video proved me wrong what a great set I just wish they made a smaller version for 48” curves so I could run it
To this day I have not even taken my Acela set out of the box for testing. I hope mine runs as well as yours once I get a new layout up and running when my new home is finished.
Just WOW. I was at the Lionel booth in the Orange Hall back when this first came out. I think I was 12 then, but I'm super excited to see how these come out next year. I was very tempted to get one (especially that Hiawatha fantasy paint scheme)!
The new ones are going to be really great. I am curious to see how the other paint schemes turn out as well!
Lionel released a new Acela in 2021. It’s really cool. The other engine is powered as well. Do that gives it extra pulling power.
Love the video. Also your haircut brings me back to 1999!
Holy smokes thats an awesome train set you have picked up. love the opening doors, so cool!
Wow, what a rocket ship train to enjoy!
the acela is dope! they all looked great running high speed on the layout.
That Layout Looks Amazing! Especially the GG1!
Awesome Amtrak set! Love the features!
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks for watching @The Kurt’s Place Channel!
Great video! Great shots!
NOT ONLY DID I GET THE NEW ACELA BUT JUST SCORED THE 2005 Acela full set tonight on eBay, yea I payed over but it’s never been ran! Still in original plastic! 2100 for it, but love it. I’m so so so excited. I really wanted both of these together, the new and old. I gotta wait on the bridge for like a year or so, plus the pay out will be moving to a building here in Kentucky.
Great job awesome video thank you
Hey Chris I had a big beaming smile all the way through this video, so cool and so very funny and how about those doors. Thanks again wonderful.
Thanks for watching Peter!
Pretty accurate! I hope it came with the Rather unfriendly Attendant in the Cafe Car that I hade to deal with going to DC about a Month ago.
Love all this Amtrak equipment, thanks for running them
Thanks for watching! It was fun to run all of these together.
It’s nice to see working pantographs on H0 scale too! Although we H0:ers still miss those wonderful doors!
Awesome stuff Chris! Your collection really took a step up with this one
This was an unexpected find and I am glad I found one!
Great train, your layout is awesome.
Very entertaining. I run the Alco FA set, with a non powered A unit also at Christmas. I runs along my Christmas 1964 @029 steam engine. Gotta love the old ozone smell from the old transformer.
I agree on the ozone smell! Thanks for watching Scott and enjoy those engines!
WONDERFUL Models !
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Thanks for sharing the video really cool
God I enjoyed this, I really wish that I had the space, time and money to be able to build a set to this degree. This was brilliant 👏
This is a fantastic video it's very fun to show the various amtraks including the 2005 acela
The thing that really stands out here is that you show off the layout size and all the volume where the train traverses from the various tracks I hope you're able to do that with some more of the videos for videos for all the freights and passenger and other specialty trains that you can run
Thanks Fulvio! It is always fun to have multiple trains running around the layout. Luckily everything behaved for this video!
@@RBPTrains The video also did something else that I consider to be one of those key standards of great trained videos and that is......... It gets me in the mood to run a train...lol
. I don't have a CZcams channel yet but I have a decent size loop and lot of cool Lionel sunset 3rd rail Golden Gate depot kayline and MTH rolling stock and engines... Doesn't matter how cool it is in the collection it can always be added to lol just like the layout never a finished we're a finished thing always something to add on to it or change around for fun And of course the great creativity that exists in this hobby we see so much of it on your videos and others :)
Cool video!
Before commissioning the Acela from Bombardier AMTRAK did a case study by testing two European trainsets in the early 1990s. The Swedish State Railways ASEA/ABB model X2000 and the German DB AEG, ABB Siemens model ICE 1. The X2000 had tilt technology and coluld maintain speed in “standard” non-high-speed turns while the ICE was more powerful and could accelerate harder out of turns. And in the eleventh hour Bombardier came out of left field with the concept design for the Acela. There is a brilliant YT mini documentary about that test period.
Excellent info! Thank you for sharing. :)
This train looks awesome. After seeing your video and Sean’s, I definitely want one. Even with the issues people have with it, I’d still buy this one.
I was hesitant at first as well. My local store had this one so I was able to test everything in person to make sure it worked. It is way fun and more enjoyable than I expected!
Now that is what I am talking about, nice!
You've been holding out on me Chris🤔 Didn't know you had 1 too. Great to see MY favorite model train running and without incident. Great vid as always👏🏻
This set was a recent addition, haha! Glad you enjoyed and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite sets as well! The "stand clear of the closing doors" dialogue is my favorite :)
@@RBPTrains Me too! I also love the fact that when you change direction, the pantographs switch position and the crew talk changes to whichever engine is leading. The doors are just the best, marker lights and all and the p.a. system sounds are just like what I've experienced on board. I'm obsessed and can't wait to get my new ones!! Thanks so much for sharing🥰
Chris….I watch a lot of train layout videos and you are the most entertaining. Keep up the good work. Rick B
Thank you Rick! I have fun making these. It has been a creative outlet and gives me an excuse to run trains more often! :)
Wow!!! Awesome video as always my friend. I love the Amtrak varieties. I have the Genesis Engine in the Phase 1 paint scheme and some Amfleet cars. I lived in CT for about 5 years and would always Amtraks on the New Haven line.
I think that is one of the cool things about this model is that we experienced this one in real life. I wish I could say the same about half of the steam engines in the fleet! Would have been epic to see those in their prime. :)
That is awesome!
This guy spent tens of thousands on this train set. What a train set it is.
IT'S GREAT!!! CONGRATULATIONS FROM MONTEVIDEO URUGUAY, SOUTH AMÉRICA!!
You have awesome setup so cool.
This is actually so cool
That Acela train is awesome.
You're fun to watch! In a good way of course :)
Love that video 👌🏼
Rraly good.gGreat presentation.thanks
Nice layout, beautiful trains. Thanks
Thanks for watching @Microbyte!
Woooow, amazing, mind blown hopefully one day I'll have this set or any other one of the sets. Great video RBP Trains 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Thanks Kenny! You absolutely will have this set one day. :)
Gotta love it!
That’s awesome!!
That Acela is one the best models I’ve ever seen. What a treat to see it running at full speed as well! Does it tilt at all like the real ones? That would be the icing on the cake.
It actually does have the tilt feature but I disabled it for the video as I could not capture it well on camera. My curves are O72 but the tilt looks much better on larger curves. Thanks for watching!
Great video! I love most older trains but pretty soon, Acelas express will be replaced with a new Acela Express called the Avelia Liberty!
Love your videos RBP right on.
Good job man love the trains
Thank you! The Acela set is one of the more fun ones to run.
Sweet layout, I really like the amtrak acela.
I heard the doors on the acela set were a nightmare for Lionel. Your doors seem to work flawlessly.
They are delicate so I can see how some may break over time. I got lucky and was able to test this set at my local shop before bringing it home. I was nervous about those doors at first! Thanks for watching!
Woah that’s amazing
I love it!
Man I love that amtrak train for a 2005 model that is 👌
Cool train layout video.
Excellent video, nice work 👍
Just bought my first little model rail road trains because of your videos now. I got build a layout ect... decided to go ho for my first set up thanks man love the videos been a sub on my other account for awhile now
Thanks for the support and enjoy building your layout!
As soon as I found this channel, I subscribed.
I always wanted this one! 😍
Cool layout
This is awesome
Chris!!! That’s so cool. I’ve watched 29 seconds and had to reply. Those doors closing is too cool!! Absolutely love it!!
I was so relieved that they worked when I got the set! This is one unique train. :)
Chris
My son likes your videos! He really like diesel engines and asks that you feature more diesels! Thank you!
Fantastic video!
Thanks @R Rad!
That Acela set is awesome
i'm new here but i just subbed. this is an awesome model ! :D
Thank you and welcome! This Acela is a lot of fun!
Cool, I love the Amtrak Acela! But I’ve never ridden it before.
Love the channel, my kids call you Ace Ventura train collector 👍
Thanks for watching and I get that Jim Carey comment a lot, haha!
Good one, Chris! He he - Your personality is half the fun! Keep it up!
Thanks Greg! The videos are a lot of fun to make! Half of my excitement is when things work for the camera, haha!
Congrats!
Great trains!
That Acela👌🏾
That is a nice train.
So beautiful 👍💯
That GG1 set is so shiny!
日本人です。日本にもNゲージという鉄道模型はありますが、この鉄道模型もとても素晴らしいです
That is, Cool, Bro.... I have Acela in HO, DC/DCC from Bachmann...
