  • A super cool new Juan K design, the ClubSwan 43 is a genuine multi-role yacht for ORC racing, one-design regattas and occasional fast cruising. Toby Hodges travelled to the Finnish yard for the very first sail trials. Report in Yachting World Sept 2024

    So we have the Clubswan 43, XR-41 and the Neo 430 Roma.
    Problem is, I want them all. Solution to the problem: Can't afford any of those anyway.

    Thanks Toby! Really enjoyed seeing it in it's unfinished state. It gives you a chance to see what goes on in building it out. I look forward to seeing the next video with it fully fitted out and sailing in "proper" winds.

    As a Contessa sailor in my seventies, probably not for me. Having said that it is always interesting to see how new yachts are developing. The performance difference over the decades never ceases to amaze me.😀

      Yachts like the Contessa are more likely to survive severe weather than these high windage, low ballast ratio boats that will not self right if knocked down beyond 90 if a hatch is open.

      @@matthewkenny1944 Perhaps, but slow, cramped and very wet to sail. Give me a Hallberg anytime.

    When I see sails like that I always think that they spent a bunch of money on them and then packed them way too tight for shipping to save a small amount. Always seems pound foolish and penny wise. Can we all just start shipping new sails rolled in tubes?

    Would love to see a full tour when this is finished in cruising mode. Thank you Toby.

    Sorry but it all looks a bit plastic fantastic. the sharp corners below should make crew ,in rough passage, an involuntary group of blood donors. I would say it's well suited for bay racing.

    Swans have always been the most interesting designs of all production yachts. The proof will be in the pud and let's hope they are not playing with theirs.

    Hi Toby, love your job and enjoy the videos. I tend to post negative comments, I do want people to do a reality check, is this the boat for me and my crews ability.
    Please do a review of a small yacht in less than favourable conditions. 19:53

    • @yachtingworld
      @yachtingworld  Před 15 dny +1

      Thanks Matthew - and yes appreciate the comments. And believe me I'd much rather do all reviews in more testing conditions. But a lot of the time I do not have any control over that. You may sense my frustration with this one for example. But even when we do get the chance to have a boat for a couple of days or more, we cannot plan the weather! And as for smaller yachts - I'll sail/review pretty much all new sailing yachts that come out, so the fact there are mostly larger and very expensive yachts coming out these days is reflective of the market I'm afraid!

    When you look at an unfinished F1 car, it’s as exciting as the finished one. Same for an unfinished Moto GP racer. Same for an unfinished Rolex or Patek Philippe. But this looks like an unfinished IKEA just out of the flat pack. The finish quality of the interior panels, even the “saloon” table is embarrassing. Unfinished should still show QUALITY. Am I missing something? I hope so as I’m a massive Swan fan!
